Ooh! Ok. That's a bit of a better upgrade for both of the second jobs… a couple more points per level for the main stats… seems mainly physical stats… makes sense. Then, how about the skills? Joe flipped open his skills page and took a look. He took a look at what the mercenary line of jobs gave him and frowned. It was pretty much the same as what the previous two jobs had given him: sword, shield, and bow, if a couple levels sooner. What the next two jobs, hired man and sell sword, gave him was a boost to loot gains. Hired man gave him a single boost, while sell sword gave him a triple boost in two skills. Hired man gave him 'Loot +' while sell sword gave him 'Loot +' and 'Loot ++' which was kind of interesting but… Well… I guess it would make a possible useful ability when I really need something to drop, right? But…
Joe turned to his soldier line of jobs and found much the same as the mercenary jobs. The two jobs pretty much had similar skills. The first soldier job's skills were sword, disciplined, bonus to attack and defense. The next two jobs, private and specialist, also had disciplined, and a bonus to attack and strength. Oh, but… that's interesting. Soldier has swords, private has sword and shield, and specialist has spears. So… do each of them specialize in their own weapons? That's… Joe pondered that for a while, wondering at the ramifications before he continued on as there was nothing else really to understand or learn on it.
Specialist also had two other new skills: One to Many ++ and Guard. Guard seems pretty obvious to him, although given that the specialist used spears and no shields, he found it strange that specialists had a skill for guarding but privates, whose weapon was sword and shield, did not. In any case, the skill seemed obvious so he turned to the other skill. What's one to many? That's… Help, what is one to many?
OK! That would be amazi… but it's so situational… But… some testing needed? Joe's thoughts whirred through options but then soon grew distracted, returning to his mana practice and putting aside his jobs. He did choose two new jobs to replace the ones he was free to swap out, choosing to continue opening up mercenary and soldier. For mercenary, the next job was enforcer. Corporal was the next job available for the soldier line. He then turned to his main status page, intending to check things out before looking at whether he could swap to the next Loki priest job but the insane numbers he now had distracted him, especially now that he had swapped most of his jobs and the new ones were now offering zero stats, and he spent another good half hour struggling to understand what was happening.
In the end, he wasn't able to really understand or pick out where his extra stats were coming from, even after scouring his titles and double checking all his skills and various jobs' stats. All he really figured out was that his stats seemed to radically change, skyrocketing after he began exploring the combat line of jobs; that he was certain of. What he was less certain of was whether it was after exploring the combat line of jobs, in their entirety, or if it was after he leveled the lighter red weapon related jobs, like spearman, tai chi, and pugilist. Maybe it's a difference between the darker red mercenary, duelist, soldier, gladiator, horseman, and warrior, and the lighter red staff warrior, pugilist, and tai chi jobs. But what? He spent some time trying to remember and see if there was a difference but in the end, came to a dead end when he just couldn't add up the numbers. He sighed and turned away. Right… jobs are done… back to practicing.
With his job options set for today, he returned to his mana practice and spent the rest of the morning on it. Because of his earlier rising, he actually spent quite a bit more time practicing than he was used to, but felt like he'd actually made some useful gains. Should I spend… a bit more time each day? Hmm… to do?
After a big chunk of time that Joe felt to be close to an hour or more, Kilniara finally woke and slid around, turning into his arms. She smiled, then leaned forward, lips pursing although Joe could tell she was a bit concerned so Joe leaned forward as well and kissed her passionately, her lips a bit dry but still quite enjoyably soft against his. He held the kiss for a bit before pulling back with a smile. She had climbed on him and lay on his chest, staring down at him with a soft smile and they stared at each other for a bit before Joe replied.
"Never be worried about kissing me, especially in private! You have my body whenever you wish after we're married, and as many kisses as you wish before we're married. Do not be afraid to seek it out with me. I would… really enjoy it if you do so."
She immediately flushed red before turning her head away, but it didn't hide her smile of happiness. Joe laughed a bit and poked her in the side which quickly made her indignant but overwhelmed her embarrassment. She tickled him back for a bit before retreating in defeat and seeking clemency in his arms, laying against his chest.
"I hope… you will allow me yours as well?" Joe asked.
"Huh?" Kilniara picked up her head and looked down at him.
"Allow me yours…"
"My what?"
"Your body."
Her face flushed brilliant red once again as she looked away in embarrassment, her vocalizations were unintelligible as she buried herself in his chest. Joe actually giggled watching her and he rubbed her back while holding her. He allowed her some space for a bit before attempting to comfort her.
"You already know I am very happy with you, but I do not wish to push myself on you."
She shuddered in his arms for a bit before pulling her head up and staring at him carefully, her face still bright red although she appeared to be seriously attempting to read him.
"Why are you asking this?"
Joe chuckled a bit then noticed that she was being very honest so schooled his face, "Why would I not ask? It would be impolite for me to simply assume you're mine."
