?Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Show Her a Little Care Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Show Her a Little Care Zhu Qianying was still cautiously sorting through her suddenly scattered thoughts and heartbeat. Glancing at the screen, she blurted out before her brain could catch up, “How about we try it tonight?”
Young Master Yan looked at her sidelong for a few seconds, then stood up straight, his hand pressing heavily on her head, he gave it a good rub. “Forget it, let’s go out for dinner tonight!”
Zhu Qianying shrank a little, uttering a soft “Oh”. Her thoughts and heartbeat gradually returned to normal as he moved away.
“You’re free to order whatever drink or food you fancy from Qin Xiu.”
Young Master Yan said, and strolled out.
Despite Young Master Yan’s instructions, Zhu Qianying hadn’t considered calling Qin Xiu. After all, she wasn’t like Young Master Yan—she didn’t have the habit of bossing people around, nor did she expect others to wait on her.
She sat in the reception room for a while longer and gradually got bored. Standing up, she stepped out.
With Young Master Yan engrossed in whatever he was working on, Zhu Qianying chimed in, “Young Master Yan, I’m going to the nearby mall for a walk. Do you need anything that I could get for you?”
Without lifting his head, Young Master Yan responded, “No!”
The man, now engrossed in his work, reverted back to his cold demeanor.
The five-storey mall offers a variety of foods on the first floor, men’s goods on the second, women’s goods on the third, maternal and baby products on the fourth, and children’s recreational facilities on the fifth floor and open-air rooftop.
Zhu Qianying aimlessly strolled from the first floor to the top floor. Bored, she leaned against a pillar and watched parents chasing their own ‘monkeys’ around the field.
The kids’ laughter—silver bells of joy—was punctuated by occasional shouts and scoldings from parents.
Most parents’ foreheads were studded with beads of sweat. It seemed like they were quite exhausted, but every parent’s face was filled with smiles of happiness and fulfillment.
Jacket pockets stuffed with her hands, Zhu Qianying watched these seemingly plain and ordinary bits of happiness. Yet, they seemed unbearably luxurious to her.
Her mother had never once taken her and her sister to such recreations. As for her father, there’s no need to even bring him up. She even questioned if her father regularly forgot the existence of her and her sister, Xiao Yu.
A little boy suddenly ran over and tripped beside Zhu Qianying without warning. She bent down and helped the little boy up. He grinned at her, “Thank you, sister!”
Zhu Qianying smiled back at him, patting his little butt, “You’re Welcome!”
The boy dashingly ran off and stopped beside a man in glasses, tugging at his hand, the man followed where the little boy was pointing.
Zhu Qianying guessed that the little boy had told the man what had happened just now, so she nodded politely at the man.
The man bent down to pick up the boy and took strides towards her.
“Miss, thank you for just now!” The man, in his thirties, looked refined and spoke in a polite, gentle tone.
Zhu Qianying shook her head with a smile, “It’s no big deal, you’re welcome.”
She then reached out to pinch the little boy’s chubby paw. The little boy, with thick eyebrows and big eyes, had a cute, tiger-like look, not resembling his father much.
After thanking her, the man carried the boy towards the trampoline. Zhu Qianying lingered for a while. Seeing that time had passed, she went down to the first floor to buy some snacks and brought them back for Young Master Yan’s afternoon tea.
Fearing that Qin Xiu might prepare an afternoon tea for Yan, Zhu Qianying texted him in advance. She returned to Young Master Yan’s office with the snacks, but found it empty. Maybe he was in a meeting?
Without giving it much thought, Zhu Qianying took the snacks into the reception room.
Despite having been here several times, she never had the intention to pry into the other parts of the office. She had not even looked at Young Master Yan’s desk once. She went straight into the reception room.
Checking the time, it was about ten minutes before Young Master Yan’s afternoon tea time. Zhu Qianying pulled a book out of her bag and flipped it open casually.
“Don’t tell me he’s an old customer. Even if he was the king’s son, if he can’t meet our requirements, we’ll still have to cut him off! There are no privileges!”
Young Master Yan’s cold voice accompanied his approaching footsteps, entered Zhu Qianying’s ears. She turned around to see Young Master Yan and Qin Xiu’s figures stopped by the desk.
Apparently, there were some disagreements with Qin Xiu about work.
“But… ” Qin Xiu attempted to smooth things over; however, Young Master Yan waved a dismissive hand, “Enough, do as I say. No need to quibble. It’s four o’clock!”
Only then did Qin Xiu turned away. Through the glass, he gave Zhu Qianying an apologetic smile.
Zhu Qianying nodded at him with a friendly smile. Young Master Yan excused Qin Xiu and strode towards her; Qin Xiu, conscientiously, turned and left.
“I picked up some snacks at the nearby mall, they may not be amazing but you can have them.”
Zhu Qianying bent down to fetch the box of snacks, uncovered it and pushed it towards Young Master Yan’s seat.
Young Master Yan uttered a grunt, surprisingly without a single complaint. He sat down at his place, grabbed a packet of wet wipes from the drawer under the coffee table, and wiped his face. He then took another piece to clean his hands.
While he was busy wiping, Zhu Qianying stood up and checked the storage cabinet, “Young Master Yan, do you want coffee or tea?”
“Tea!”
After a few times, Zhu Qianying realized that Young Master Yan seemed to prefer tea to coffee.
As for snacks, he seemed to prefer Chinese-style ones more.
“Biluochun!” Before Zhu Qianying could ask more, Young Master Yan added.
Zhu Qianying brewed a pot of Biluochun tea, pouring a cup for him and herself.
Then, she nestled on the sofa to resume her reading.
Young Master Yan took a sip of tea and picked up the chopsticks, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Zhu Qianying nearly dropped to her knees, moved. Finally, he learned to show tiny bits of concern for her!
“You eat, I’m not used to having afternoon tea.”
Young Master Yan scanned her up and down, “Afraid of gaining weight?”
Zhu Qianaying was taken aback. Since when did not having afternoon tea equate to weight-consciousness?
“Of course not, I’m just not accustomed to it. Do you think I look like I’m afraid of gaining weight based on my usual appetite?” Zhu Qianying said, while sticking out her tongue at him, she made a funny face.
A hint of a smile appeared in Young Master Yan’s eyes. Was it due to her funny face, or did her mention of her usual hearty food habits remind him of something?
Young Master Yan picked up a dumpling and stuffed it into his mouth, only to immediately scrunch his brows.
Seeing this, Zhu Qianying knew that the food wasn’t to his taste.
Indeed, he’s a picky eater—spoilt Young Master!
The man in question didn’t bother to hide his dissatisfaction, grabbed a tissue, and spat the unchewed dumpling right back into it.
“This doesn’t taste good!”
With furrowed brows, Young Master Yan said this, took a large swig of his tea, gargled a few times, and walked over to spit the rinse into a nearby trash can.
