?Chapter 60: Chapter 061 Was Molested?_1 Chapter 60: Chapter 061 Was Molested?_1 Muniang was somewhat troubled when Erliang whispered in her ear, “Should I try drinking a little?”
“Ah, today I finally see,” someone teased, “this renowned tiger-hunting hero, why does he take his wife’s words so seriously?”
The crowd clearly was making fun of Erliang for asking Muniang’s opinion, but Erliang showed no shame whatsoever, “Of course! My wife’s words are heavier than an imperial edict!”
The crowd was stunned for a moment, then burst into hearty laughter. Muniang’s cheeks reddened and she elbowed Erliang, “Make your own decision, stop asking me all the time!” There was a hint of coquettish annoyance in her tone.
Erliang chuckled, “Then I’ll drink.”
Having said that, he tilted his head back and gulped down a bowl, not hesitating at all.
“Good!” everyone cried out in unison.
Muniang, seeing no change in Erliang’s complexion, also felt relieved. Although he might have been simple-minded, he still retained his skills from the past; otherwise, he wouldn’t be such an impressive hunter. Muniang then realized she had been worrying too much.
With Wang Qiang setting the precedent, everyone started to offer him drinks, one bowl after another. Erliang remained unshakable, earning praise for his capacity for alcohol. Muniang watched in astonishment, wondering if this man used to be a bartender.
Seeing how well Erliang could hold his liquor, Muniang stopped worrying unnecessarily. There was a pile of work to be done in the kitchen, and Mrs. Du and the others were probably overwhelmed, so after telling Erliang, “Drink less,” she left.
Originally impressed by Erliang’s superior hunting skills, Wang Qiang now gazed at him with even more admiration after witnessing his drinking prowess, looking at Erliang as if he were an idol. Chengzi teased him for being pathetic.
While the atmosphere was lively here, Niu Tieshu was deeply sullen. His face was as dark as charcoal, and he was close to snapping the chopsticks in his hand, “What’s so great about that idiot?!”
Nanny Zhang quickly covered his mouth, “What are you ranting about? Why argue with an idiot? Don’t stir up trouble; once we succeed, all of his wealth will be ours anyway!”
Niu Tieshu snorted coldly but held back his anger.
Nanny Zhang, with sharp eyes, noticed Erliang getting up to head towards the latrine. She immediately elbowed Niu Qingfang, giving her a meaningful look. Niu Qingfang nodded and quietly stood up, following Erliang to the latrine.
Nanny Zhang’s smile turned sinister, thinking that after this matter was settled, not only could they take care of that little slut Qiao Muniang, but Erliang’s vast wealth would also soon be within reach.
Indeed, it didn’t take long before a piercing female scream rang out, “Ah! Help!”
The once noisy courtyard fell silent in an instant. Niu Tieshu stood up with a “whoosh” and rushed toward the latrine, with Nanny Zhang quickly following. Everyone gathered around to see what was going on.
There, Niu Qingfang sat on the ground, her hair a mess and her clothes torn. Crying loudly, she shouted, “Help, I’ve been violated!”
Erliang looked in astonishment at the girl on the ground, not knowing what to do. He had just finished at the latrine and was about to return to the feast with the villagers when he encountered her. When she struck up a conversation with him, he felt uncomfortable and didn’t want to engage, planning to walk past her. But then, unbelievably, she began to dishevel her own clothes and hair and started screaming for help!
Niu Tieshu, visibly panicked, shielded his sister as he repeatedly asked, “What’s happened? Who bullied you? Tell me quickly, and I definitely won’t let them get away with it!”
Seeing the crowd gathering around, Niu Qingfang decided to throw caution to the wind, and she pointed at Chengzi, saying, “It was him! I just wanted to go to the toilet, but I had the bad luck of running into this man. He harassed me shamelessly, and though I didn’t want to pay him any attention, he actually, actually… to me…”
Before she could finish, she covered her face and began to cry.
Chengzi glared, “You’re talking nonsense! When did I do anything to you?!”
Niu Tieshu, furious, swung his fist at Chengzi, but although Chengzi wasn’t quick-witted, he was agile enough to dodge to the side.
Nanny Zhang howled, “This is outrageous! In broad daylight, you dare to lay hands on a maiden! My poor daughter, how could she undeservedly suffer such an ordeal?!”
The onlooking laborers and villagers exchanged glances, equally confused about the situation and naturally clueless regarding what was happening.
“I didn’t touch her!” Chengzi shouted, his face turning red with anger.
“Bah!” Nanny Zhang cursed, “There’s no one else here but you. If not you, are you saying my daughter did this to herself? How shameless can you be! You seem honest on normal days, but I didn’t expect you to be such a lecher. Don’t think you can get away with this by simply denying everything! I’ll have you know that I, Nanny Zhang, won’t be bullied that easily!”
“I… ” Chengzi was at a complete loss for words.
Muniang, hearing that trouble had broken out, hurriedly pushed through the crowd to arrive at the scene. Seeing what was happening, she felt a chill, and her voice grew cold as she asked, “What’s going on here?!”
The usually timid Niu Qingfang, who had been nestled in Nanny Zhang’s arms, was startled by Muniang’s presence and took a furtive glance at her, suddenly feeling uncertain. With Qiao Muniang being so fierce, she wondered if she could ever prevail over this ‘tigress’ should she marry Chengzi as a concubine, fulfilling her mother’s wish.
However, this concern lasted only a moment. After all, she had already taken this step and there was no turning back. No matter how formidable Qiao Muniang was, she was undeterred and determined to bring down this rightful wife beneath her feet!
Chengzi quickly said, “Wife, I really didn’t touch her!”
Muniang glanced at the disheveled woman on the ground and felt her heart sink. She thought, so that’s why Nanny Zhang suddenly brought her unmarried daughter to such a place! They were waiting here for her!
Niu Tieshu’s face turned ashen, “What do you mean? You say you didn’t touch her, so you didn’t? Then what’s happened to my sister right now? Don’t spout nonsense at me! I’m telling you today, if you laid a finger on my sister and tarnished her innocence, this isn’t over!”
Muniang went over to Chengzi’s side and took his hand, seemingly offering him comfort. All of Chengzi’s grievances dissipated in that moment; as long as his wife believed in him, that was all that mattered!
Turning to Niu Tieshu, Muniang said, “My husband said he didn’t do it, and that’s that. Whatever you did, you know it in your hearts.”
She then gave a scornful look at Niu Qingfang, who was crying pitifully, and scoffed, “With such character, my husband’s tastes have not degraded to this level.”
Niu Qingfang grew angry and, pointing at Muniang’s nose, began to berate, “What do you mean by that? You can’t control your own husband, and now that he’s taken a liking to me, you’re feeling uneasy, aren’t you?”
