Chapter 196 Last real threat from the 100
Evil 100 Member’s Point of View
I managed to kill someone during the test which got me enough points to buy many of the upgrades I wanted. I purchased Kryptonian physique, reality warping, speed force access, and power bestowal. With my body-swapping powers I purchased the first time and exchanged bodies with more and more powerful criminals until I was going to swap with Sebastian Shaw… For him to die right before I did and my target changing to Darren Cross just so I could get his suit I slowly stole more and more powerful heroes or villain bodies.
My current body was Vandal Savage. I could have chosen a more powerful villain, but many of my choices were murdered before I could get their bodies. If I retained the abilities of the person I swapped to when I swapped again I’d be a powerhouse by now but I was only an enhanced, immortal human with many tools and gadgets to my name. With the new influx of powers, I was an immortal superman who could think and grow faster the more speed force I absorbed and could warp reality around me.
I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face as I killed my rivals, with power bestowal I removed the biggest flaw in my ability to gain new powers as I could just capture the person, knock them unconscious, transfer over all the powers I gained before swapping to them and killing my previous body. I had planned on waiting for my plans to fall into place, I knew I needed to get stronger and acquire five or six key powers to steal Danny Storm’s body, but I couldn’t help but be excited at the thought of taking his body from him.
I was making my way towards Professor X who I’d speed blitz and knock unconscious before he had a chance to mind whammy me. The fact that I didn’t know all the powers Danny Storm had but knew enough that gaining the mind-controlling and mental defenses from Charles was absolutely necessary for fighting him. Time manipulation was off the table, but I could possibly strengthen my reality-warping abilities by body-swapping to another reality warper.
While I needed his powers… It wouldn’t hurt to pick up some of the more useful powers from the other members. Flying over to Krakoa was only a thought and as I landed on the island… I knew something was wrong. The attosecond I set my foot down an unknown power of my Kryptonian physique warned me that I just set off a magical spell that would let someone know when a powerful non-mutant landed.
The thought of flying away was the only thing that happened before a man teleported in front of me moving faster than me as he had access to the speed force for longer, perhaps he just knew how to draw more power from it than I did. Briefly, my eyes started to widen but the man had already placed a hand on my shoulder. The moment he made contact with me, I felt my soul expelled from my body.
I could no longer fly away and I lost access to all of my powers… Except the most useful one for this situation, the one I wanted more than anything because I wanted to take this man’s life from him. Even as a soul, I couldn’t help but smirk as I moved towards him to swap into his body. Without an inflection of emotion, the man tossed something at me.
I could only look on in shock and horror as my soul-projected body was absorbed into the item. He casually, having stopped using the speed force, walked over and collected the item. My mind was already growing fuzzy as my vision started fading to pinpricks of light. As I felt my consciousness fading, the last thing I heard was the man whistling like he hadn’t just taken the body and soul of someone with no hesitation. No, it was almost like he was happy this happened.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
I felt satisfied that this jackass wasted his one shot at me like this. That was the last real threat to me from the 100 and I stole the body-swapping and Kryptonian physique powers from him while strengthening the other powers I had already. I felt my demigod physiology click over and grow even more powerful. I was a hair’s breadth away from it becoming a true god’s physiology. It meant that my stats would never fall below high cosmic.
There were still two who hadn’t joined in on the second trial, two Justice League members, and Old Death left but… Old Death spent his points securing his happiness as he met a woman he loved and settled down as he quit being a villain. The other two who didn’t take part would pose a threat, so that meant I was done with worrying about the 100.
I was happy to gain a soul of the 100 as well. It would allow me to experiment and see if there was any difference between this and a soul from someone else. It didn’t even take a second glance to realize there was. At least his soul almost seemed streamlined, there was no indication that his soul went through any stress up until a few months ago when we joined this world.
It meant that these weren’t our original souls from Earth most likely and they were made from scratch at the same time our bodies were made and our powers were given to us. We were effectively ‘born’ when we came to this universe, which somehow made sense. Most of our ages were adjusted to eighteen. I turned my body to the side as I dodged a laser from behind me.
The magical protections I put on the island would alert other members, specifically the higher-ups in the X-men that someone very powerful just broke through. I looked back toward Scott before pointing at the lifeless but still alive body on the ground. The evil man had stopped breathing but it would take minutes for his body to stop functioning on autopilot as his bodily processes shut down one after another.
“Big threat is dealt with. I’ll stick around to explain what happened… But that guy is missing his soul which is.” I pulled out the soul gem his soul was in. “Is right here. I got to keep his body alive for a reason I’d rather not say so can I move over to him and begin life-saving processes to keep him from perishing?” Scott was in above his head.
This wasn’t the self-assured Scott from the comics but the young man who hadn’t grown into a hero yet. He had the same mentality as comic book Cyclops but lacked the knowledge to know what to do when something like this happened. As I moved over and picked the body up telekinetically, I started making it breathe manually with my molecular reconstruction.
I was keeping his body alive for a few reasons. The first was his Kryptonian blood. I had gone to the third-world country the younger villain had taken over and taken his corpse but it was always good to have a self replenishing supply of super blood. Was it kind of evil to keep him alive for his blood and DNA? Yeah, probably. As more X-men kept arriving I knew I didn’t really care.
The second reason was to have a backup body in case the worst ever did come to pass. It was odd how I could absorb the Kryptonian physique power while his body kept the DNA. Maybe, over the course of a few days, Vandal’s body would go back to just enhanced human but I didn’t think so. I think his body would stay Kryptonian and that it was just a glitch allowing me access to the power while his body retained the DNA.
