?Chapter 283: 283. Lost to Myself (3)_1 Chapter 283: 283. Lost to Myself (3)_1 She was propping herself up from the bed, getting ready to stand up.
But the moment she moved, she was pulled back.
“Hey–”
Before Xiya had a chance to respond, her position had swapped with his.
Now she was below, and he was on top, pressing her down.
The man who had originally pretended to be drunk now was sober, watching her. The odor of male hormones mixed with the strong smell of wine hit her nostrils.
“Khan, what are you doing? Get off me,” she demanded.
Xiya stared at the man straddling her; she knew he had been pretending to be drunk. She should never have gone to the bar to pick him up.
“Xiya, let’s make up, okay?” Khan said softly, his legs clamping tightly around her struggling ones.
“There is truly nothing happening between her and I. Please, believe me.”
Xiya gave a small snort and averted her gaze, answering calmly, “What happens between you two is none of my business. You can rekindle your old flame for all I care. Now, let me go.”
She
“Xiya, let me explain. She was in some trouble the other day, all I did was help her. Besides, we’re over. What’s more, it’s you I like now. Can’t you understand my feelings for you?” Khan bent over, his face close to hers, his voice hoarse.
“I swear, Xiya, I only love you. What her and I had is in the past. Now, all I want is you.”
Xiya refused to look at him, a flicker of emotion shining deep within her eyes.
After a moment, she began, “Khan, I’ve thought about it. I think we’re better off as friends. Let’s forget about being lovers.”
“No, Xiya, you can’t just reject my feelings for you by saying we aren’t suitable. That’s not fair to me.” Khan’s face betrayed his panic and he grabbed her shoulders.
“If it bothers you, I promise I won’t see her again, I won’t help her again, I promise.”
The pain in her shoulders made her furrow her brow. She met his gaze, her decision final. “There’s no need. I’m serious. We are not suitable. Better to end it now than to prolong the pain. After all, we were never really together. It’s better for everyone if we go back to being friends, it’s less complicated.”
Looking at her beautiful face, a dull ache started in the pit of Khan’s stomach. “Really, no second chance?”
Xiya repressed her reluctance and took a deep breath. “No-…” Her refusal was cut off by his lips.
“Um, Khan…”
Xiya angrily beat against his back, struggling fiercely.
Khan had lost all sense of composure due to the alcohol and Xiya’s words.
His kiss was furious, Xiya had no chance to fight back.
“Ah, Khan, let me go!” Xiya, watching the man ripping at her clothes, flushed and angry.
This man, she thought, was going to drive her mad someday.
“Xiya, don’t break up, don’t leave me, please,” he begged, kissing her lips.
There was a ripping sound, and her clothes were ruined in his hands.
Xiya looked up at the man above her, a flicker of indecision in her eyes, before finally, her slim arms returned his embrace.
She slowly closed her eyes, a tear rolling down her cheek.
Fine, just for this one night.
Losing herself one last time.
After this night, she would go back to being the carefree Xiya, while he would return to his hedonistic self.
Love… somehow it feels like both the beginning and end…
As dawn broke, the silhouettes on the bed stirred.
With trembling caution, she rose from the bed, her fair back covered in red marks.
She forced a smile, mocking herself.
Oh, Xiya, you’ve lost to yourself in the end.
She grabbed her shirt from the floor and casually put it on.
Then, she opened a drawer, took out a small jar, and opened it. Wafting it under the man’s nose, he furrowed his brow and then promptly fell into a deep sleep.
She closed the jar and placed it on the bedside table.
As she was about to stand up, suddenly, the vibration of a phone broke the silence.
It was Khan’s phone.
Xiya picked it up. There was no name, just a number; unfortunately, it was a number she recognized.
With a mocking look in her eyes, she answered the call.
Just as the call connected, a soft voice wafted through, carrying a hint of pitifulness.
“Khan, where are you? I called several times but you didn’t pick up. I’m worried about you.”
Her grip on the phone tightened, whitening her knuckles. Glancing at the sleeping man, she gave a sneer.
What a pitiful voice it was!
“Khan, did I disturb your rest? I’m sorry. I’m not feeling well, but you’re the only person I know here. Can you come and help me?”
Hearing the weak voice on the phone, Xiya’s annoyance sparked and she hung up.
She angrily tossed the phone onto the bed and returned to her room.
Worried about the effects of the drug wearing off, Xiya quickly washed up, changed clothes, gathered her passport, and some necessities, then hurriedly left.
The door closed. Little did she know, it would be a long time before they saw each other again.
At the airport
Xiya checked her wristwatch, a look of hurry on her face.
“Xiya, what happened? You didn’t explain it clearly on the phone.” Wearing a backpack, Peter came rushing toward her.
“Peter, I can’t explain it all yet, but there’s something I have to ask you. Suspend all my work. I won’t be back for a while. And no matter who asks, don’t reveal my whereabouts. Please, Peter,” Xiya pleaded while looking at her agent. Exhaustion showed in her eyes and brows.
Peter was startled but agreed without asking any more questions. “Xiya, whatever you’re doing, I’ll always support you. Take care of yourself while abroad.”
A touch of gratitude flashed through Xiya’s eyes. She responded cheerfully, “Thanks, Peter. I knew I could count on you.”
“Save it, oh great Ancestor. You won’t be here, I’ll finally be able to take a break,” joked Peter, picking up on her sorrow and playing along.
“Relax, when I return, I will be the same old Xiya,” and with that, she offered a forced smile, waved goodbye to Peter, and headed to the boarding gate.
Watching her walk away, Peter shook his head.
No matter how casual a person may be, when it comes to love they just can’t remain unfazed anymore!
