?Chapter 285: 285. Awesome Mother-in-law (2)_1 Chapter 285: 285. Awesome Mother-in-law (2)_1 Upon hearing this, Rhee knit her brows and put down the bowl in her hand.
What is she here for?
“Please let her in.”
Since she’s already here, it would be rude to send her away immediately.
Jian Qing, with a serene expression, was savoring her sago pudding, a faint smile playing around her lips.
Soon, Song Xirou walked in with a poised grace, high heels clicking on the floor.
Different from her usual dresses, she was adorned in a fitted blazer suit today, which added an aura of a strong modern woman to her.
Upon entering, Song Xirou spotted Jian Qing sitting on the sofa. Her sleek white dress complemented her fair skin, and her relaxed demeanor made her seem more agile. Her unadorned face flashed a trace of envy in Xirou’s heart.
Concealing her internal resentment, she smiled politely and greeted, “Auntie!”
“Miss Song, why are you here today?” Rhee chuckled elegantly, adding, “Unfortunately, if you are looking for my mother-in-law, she left early in the morning.”
Listening to the distant title of “Miss Song,” Song Xirou clenched her handbag and forced a smile. “Auntie, I’m not here to see Grandmother Quan.”
She was the one who had been genuinely good to Quan’s family, and she didn’t understand why Jingwu’s mother had always disliked her, always keeping a distant approach.
On the other hand, she was quite affectionate towards Jian Qing.
The preferential treatment infuriated her. How could she not be jealous?
“Is that so? Then what brings you here today?” Rhee looked curiously at Xirou before smiling and asking.
Song Xirou glanced at Jian Qing indifferently and slowly stated, “I just stopped by JK International to discuss a business proposal with Jingwu. But the receptionist told me he wasn’t there, so I came here.”
The way she kept saying ‘Jingwu’, it made Rhee think she was much closer to her son than she actually was.
“For business discussions, you should schedule an appointment in advance. Otherwise, you’ll exhaust yourself running around like today,” Rhee suggested with a laugh, while her seemingly harmless words made Song Xirou’s complexion alter slightly.
Her smile started to wane, “Auntie, you’re right. I didn’t plan this through properly.”
Rhee glanced at Jian Qing who was calmly enjoying her sago pudding, she couldn’t help but chuckle exasperatingly.
Your rival is here, shouldn’t you be a bit more alert?
Just as she considered an excuse to send Song Xirou away, she noticed an approaching figure from the corner of her eye.
Sending her away now seemed a little more complicated.
Upon hearing the footsteps behind her, Song Xirou turned around and her eyes lit up with joy seeing him.
“Jingwu!”
Her joy fell on unresponsive ears as he ignored her.
Quan Jingwu walked past her, focusing only on the petit female figure wearing a frosty pink dress.
Left standing in place, Song Xirou’s eyes dulled. She couldn’t afford to show her disappointment.
Why is it always like this?
Why can’t he ever look at her directly?
She had spent her entire youth loving him, wasn’t that enough?
Despite her attempt to mask her emotions, Rhee’s sharp eyes detected the fleeting desolation and sorrow in her gaze, causing Rhee to furrow her brows.
Song Xirou claimed she had a boyfriend, so how should one interpret her current reaction?
Well, it seemed her words were mostly lies.
“Xiaojing!”
Jian Qing put down her bowl and her gaze remained fixed on the package in the man’s hand.
It was a package from the most famous cake shop in Beijing.
She had casually mentioned it the previous night, not expecting that he would actually bring it.
Quan Jingwu placed the cake on the table, reached out and pinched her nose teasingly, “Greedy cat!”
“Jingwu, I raised you, but I’ve never seen you buy me a cake,” Rhee feigned jealousy and teased him playfully.
Quan Jingwu was familiar with his mother’s antics, and without giving it much attention, he wrapped his arm around Jian Qing’s waist pulling her closer.
“What were you sneaking around?” He glanced at the bowl of sago pudding on the table and a frown flashed across his face.
Noticing this, Jian Qing quickly intervened, “It’s warm, not cold.”
“Don’t worry, the bowl your daughter-in-law ate was warm,” Rhee affirmed.
Upon hearing this, Quan Jingwu’s frown relaxed.
Petting her long hair, he couldn’t resist pinching her cheek, “Behave, or next time no more snacks for you.”
The soft touch made him reluctant to let go.
Jian Qing mumbled, “I know, you’ve nagged me countless times about it.”
Having a boyfriend who constantly threatens not to give snacks, what to do?
Waiting online, urgently!
The pair’s intimate interaction seemed oblivious to everyone else’s presence.
Rhee glanced at Song Xirou, who was still hanging around, and cleared her throat subconsciously.
“Jingwu, Miss Song mentioned that there is a business proposal she wants to discuss with you.”
Jian Qing gave Quan Jingwu a cool look that seemed to say, handle your flirtatious admirer yourself.
Quan Jingwu chuckled, not resisting the temptation to peck her on her lips.
Kissing his wife, Mr. Jing didn’t feel the need to hold back.
“What are you doing!” Jian Qing gently pushed him, not really caring about Song Xirou, but conscious of her future mother-in-law watching beside them.
Quan Jingwu raised his eyebrows, taking her cool hands into his.
Rhee covered her laughing mouth and diligently shifted her gaze away.
She saw nothing.
Not far away, Song Xirou was watching the couple’s affectionate display, which was incredibly irksome to her, making her itch to tear them apart.
“Let go of me, I want to eat cake.” Jian Qing squirmed out from Quan Jingwu’s embrace and reached for the cake box.
“You can only have a bit, we’re eating dinner soon,” Quan Jingwu did not stop her but gently reminded her.
With his permission, Jian Qing grinned happily.
Rhee was also a fan of sweet treats. Without any hesitation, she and Jian Qing got busy unpacking the cake.
Quan Jingwu looked over at Song Xirou. His eyes rendered deep frost, a single glance enough to send shivers to her very core.
Her heart skipped a beat as she looked into his cold, indifferent eyes, feeling like someone was strangling her, she couldn’t even catch her breath.
“Jingwu, I—”
“We don’t know each other well.” His cold voice interrupted.
Song Xirou’s smile stiffened, her fingers digging into her palm, “CEO Quan, I’m here to discuss a business proposal on behalf of the Song Group.”
