?Chapter 349: 337, Can the Person Quan Jingwu Admires be Simple?_4 Chapter 349: 337, Can the Person Quan Jingwu Admires be Simple?_4 Xing Sen, “What is going on?”
“I’m off to tell the Master about this, you come with me.”
Saying that, Ning Feng turns around and heads towards the study, with Xing Sen hurriedly trailing after.
Upon reaching the study, they find that the door has not been closed.
“Knock, knock, knock.”
Ning Feng lifts his hand to knock on the door.
“Come in.”
A deep, rich voice echoes, prompting the two men to enter.
“Master.”
Approaching the front of the desk, they see the man looking down, engaged with some documents. They respectfully acknowledge him.
“Master, there has been a development in Beijing,” Ning Feng says straight-forwardly.
Upon hearing this, Mo Xiao places down his pen, shifting his gaze from the documents.
“What is it? Ning Feng says, “An Man has been taken to the police station, if nothing unforeseen happens, she’s likely going to be in there for life.”
Mo Xiao’s eyebrows crease. “What happened?”
“I heard that An Man hired an assassin to murder Jian Qing, but the plot was uncovered, therefore…” Ning Feng narrates calmly.
“Wait, how is she?” Mo Xiao interrupts him, asking this.
Ning Feng is taken aback, before responding, “An Man’s been injured a bit, she’s currently being held in prison.”
“I wasn’t asking about her, how is the one called Jian Qing?” Mo Xiao retorts in a deep voice.
Ning Feng and Xing Sen exchange glances, a look of surprise flashing in their eyes.
Did they hear him correctly?
Shouldn’t their Master care more about the welfare of his own sister at this time?
Ning Feng can’t help but scoff inwardly. Is this the natural disposition of a father towards his daughter?
Mo Xiao taps impatiently on the desk. Ning Feng hurriedly collects his thoughts.
“Jian Qing is unharmed.”
Leaning back, Mo Xiao seemingly breathes a sigh of relief.
This inexplicable worry seemed rather strange, even to him.
“Go on.” Ning Feng nods, continuing, “An Man is held by the police station, the old man has forbidden anyone to intervene, and doesn’t plan to save An Man. Moreover, Quan Jingwu issued a warning. Anyone who dares to bail An Man out, will be in opposition to him.”
It seems An Man can’t escape her destiny, even their old patriarch isn’t standing up for her.
In fact, he truly does not feel anything towards his “sister”.
Mo Xiao’s gaze falls slightly, seeming to be lost in deep thought about something.
Ning Feng and Xing Sen exchange glances, maintaining their silent vigil.
After a while, Mo Xiao finally speaks, “Arrange your work, we’re heading to Beijing tomorrow evening.”
“Yes.” Xing Sen responds.
“Master, shall I inform the old Master?” Ning Feng asks.
“No need.” Ning Feng shoots him a glance, and decides not to inquire further.
The two men withdraw, leaving Mo Xiao alone in the study.
Out in the corridor, Xing Sen turns his head towards his companion, asking, “Why didn’t you mention ‘that thing’ to the Master?”
If Jian Qing and his sibling are indeed the offspring of their Master, they should at least prepare him in advance.
“How do you think he would’ve reacted if I had told him?” Ning Feng responds with a counter-question.
“Uh – ” Xing Sen has no answer.
Okay, neither can he imagine how their Master would react to the news.
“What if the Master can’t accept it?” Remember, for so many years, the Master has been indifferent to all women, his heart has been set on finding just one woman named, “Weiwei”.
However, there are many people in this world called “Weiwei”, and without a surname, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.
Ning Feng scoffs, “Do you think if the Master accepts the truth, Jian Qing and his sibling will accept it too?”
According to the information he managed to find, Jian Qing and his sibling aren’t going to be easy to handle.
Xing Sen, “Is Jian Qing really that formidable?”
“You think someone whom Quan Jingwu sets his eyes on would be a pushover?” Ning Feng shoots him a glance and says.
Xing Sen is silenced, “…”
His argument does have some merit.
“Okay, let’s get to our work, we’ll be heading to Beijing tomorrow night.” Ning Feng says.
All things, by fate will naturally come, when they arrive in Beijing, all that’s meant to come, will come.
…
The fuss over An Man is roiling Beijing, however, Jian Qing is taking it easy.
Taking advantage of the lull in business, she enjoys some leisure time with Snowball and a certain grand personage, both very carefree.
After pulling an all-nighter, Jian Qing does not wake till noon.
Working the stiffness out of her waist, she drags herself downstairs.
Upon seeing Jian Qing, Snowball rushes over happily.
“Hello Snowball!”
Jian Qing leans over and pets its large head before heading into the kitchen.
The breakfast spread laid out on the table, she knows all too well who must’ve prepared it.
Picking up the milk, she bites on the straw. Holding a pastry, she walks into the living room.
Just as she’s about to sit, there’s a knock at the door.
She puts down the pastry while Snowball lays on the carpet, eyeing the pastry on the table.
When Jian Qing opens the door, she sees the couple standing at the doorstep, and her gaze flashes.
At the door, Zhou Qi and An Rong eye Jian Qing. Their eyes flash with unease, behind which lurk undertones of resentment.
“What are you all doing here?” Jian Qing leans against the door, every move of hers exuding an air of indifference.
She doesn’t recall inviting them over.
“Jian Qing, I have something to discuss with you.” Zhou Qi locks eyes with Jian Qing, announcing her desire.
Jian Qing’s eyes narrow and she doesn’t seem inclined to let them in.
“What can we possibly discuss?”
An Rong can’t stand Jian Qing’s disdainful behaviour and snaps, “Jian Qing, regardless, we are your elders, did you plan to leave us standing at the doorstep to talk?”
“Elders?” Jian Qing laughs coldly, “In daylight, it’s better not to throw around familial terms so carelessly. I can’t afford to have relations like you.”
“Jian Qing, you…” An Rong steps forward, her face contorting with anger.
“Anrong!” Zhou Qi reaches out to stop her.
They’re here today to ask for a favour. For the sake of An Man, they must not fall out with Jian Qing; otherwise, there’s truly no hope for An Man.
“Mother, look at her attitude.” Anrong shoots Jian Qing a poisonous look. This wretched girl and her fox-like mother are both despicable.
Zhou Qi pulls on her arm, whispering in her ear, “An Rong, think of your sister.”
Hearing this, An Rong’s eyes darken and she grits her teeth, swallowing her anger.
