He laughed and took her hand, kissing it lightly, “That won’t work, I’m waiting for you to have our babies.”

Having babies?

Jian Qing couldn’t help but imagine a pink and tender little cutie in her mind.

A soft and milky baby, who inherited their best characteristics, calling out “daddy” and “mommy” in a childish accent.

Just at the thought of it, her heart seemed about to melt.

She gave his chest a light tap, murmuring, “Who said I was going to have a baby with you?”

“Of course, it’s you, my Mrs. Quan!”

“You’re so cheeky.”

“Having a wife is all I need, I don’t care about face.”

“Glib tongue.”

The sea breeze blew, and she nestled into his embrace.

He gently stroked her long hair and whispered into her ear, “Sweetheart, how about we try to make a baby tonight?”

He would propose to her soon.

On that day, he would let everyone in the world know that she was his, Quan Jingwu’s, fiancée, his one and only Mrs. Quan.

“In your dreams!” she replied, nudging him with her head.

He chuckled lightly, his laughter resonating in the sea breeze.

Not far away, a figure stood in the shadows. The weak light casting a halo around his defined jawline.

In the man’s gentle eyes, the reflection of the two in a tender embrace brought a sharp pain to his heart, as if a stab with a dagger.

The jealousy and pain were to the extreme.

At this moment, Chu Yihen finally recognized his own feelings.

He didn’t deny that his initial interest in Jian Qing was because she was Quan Jingwu’s one and only soft spot. He wanted to take her away from Quan Jingwu and make him suffer. But after spending more time with her, he realized that his intentions were gradually changing.

He was genuinely attracted to Jian Qing. Her charm was too dazzling, making him unable to break free.

Ironically, by the time he realized this, she only drew farther away from him, even expressing disgust. He desperately wanted to break her connection with Quan Jingwu and he wanted to be the one Jian Qing could rely on.

But why couldn’t she even give him a chance? Was he really worse than Quan Jingwu?

A strange light flickered in his eyes. Jian Qing, he thought, I’ll show you that I’m not worse than Quan Jingwu, not at all, in any aspect.

He finished his wine in one gulp and walked back into the gathering.

The elegant string music continued in the banquet hall. People gathered in small groups, discussing business affairs. Nearby, a gambling game had started, with Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan among the participants.

“Lola, come over to daddy.” Count Durand saw his daughter arrive. He glanced at Mo Xiao and waved her over.

Lola walked over gracefully, wearing a modest smile, truly resembling a princess.

“Hello everyone, I’m Lola Durand.”

Her soft voice immediately won many people’s favor.

“I’ve heard of Princess Lola’s fame. Seeing you today is indeed extraordinary.” A senior executive of a group flattered her.

No woman ever tires of hearing compliments. Lola was no exception, and she smiled confidently, “Thank you for your kind words. I often hear about all of you from my father. Lola still has a lot to learn from all of you.”

As she spoke, she stole a glance at Mo Xiao. Seeing him still unresponsive, she felt a profound sense of disappointment.

She suppressed her discomfort and just about to say something more when she saw a rare smile on the cold man’s face.

She was puzzled but upon seeing who had just entered, a surge of jealous anger boiled up from her chest.

Her again!

“Isn’t that CEO Quan!” Count Durand spied Quan Jingwu and his eyes twinkled with delight and calculation.

“Yes, there’s no one in Beijing who doesn’t recognize Mr. Quan’s face.” A middle-aged man sighed.

They had been hustling in the business industry for decades only to be overtaken by a young man who demanded their respect, it made them realise they were getting old.

“I’ll go over to greet CEO Quan.” Count Durand, holding a glass of wine, started walking toward Quan Jingwu.

Seeing this, everyone else followed suit.

Even they would salivate at the prospect of cooperating with JK International.

Mo Xiao followed behind leisurely, while Lola purposely slowed her pace to stay by his side.

“Xie!”

She called out sweetly, reaching out to hold his hand.

Mo Xiao turned his head, shot her an icy glare and Lola awkwardly pulled back her outreached hand.

“Stay away from me.”

His cold voice lacked any warmth, filled with undisguised disgust.

Lola squeezed out a few tears of pretentious sadness and pleaded with him, “Xie, I’ve adored you for so many years, I refuse to believe you didn’t know. I don’t ask for much, only that you allow me to stay by your side. So, could you please not be so cold towards me?”

Having said that, she purposely bent over a little, revealing her plunging neckline.

Unfortunately, her vulgar display only disgusted Mo Xiao more, making him unwilling to spare her another glance.

He moved past her, quickened his pace and headed towards Jian Qing, leaving Lola with only his retreating figure.

“Damn it!”

Lola stomped her foot, cursing under her breath.

Surrounded by the crowd, Quan Jingwu held his hand around Jian Qing, keeping her delicately by his side.

“Jingwu, I’m going to the bathroom, I’ll find you in a bit.” Jian Qing tugged at the hem of his clothes, tip-toed and whispered into his ear.

Quan Jingwu hummed in acknowledgement and then loosened his hold of her.

Jian Qing had just stepped out of the crowd when she bumped into Mo Xiao.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“To the bathroom.”

“Should I accompany you?”

“There’s no need.” Jian Qing awkwardly responded, her voice sounding flat.

Without waiting for Mo Xiao’s reply, she quickly moved away.

Mo Xiao looked at her retreating figure, a smile couldn’t help but spread across his face.

Lola caught up, and from the side, she saw the smile on Mo Xiao’s face. She clenched her lips tightly, jealousy filled her eyes.

You wait and see, Jian Qing.

She stopped a waiter, placed her glass on his tray, and then turned and left.

In the bathroom, Jian Qing washed her hands and took a paper towel. As she wiped her hands, she left.

The quiet corridor was empty, save for a few waiters in uniform passing by.

“Are you Miss Jian?”

A maid approached face-on and stopped in front of her.

Jian Qing’s eyes flickered, and she nodded slightly.

“Can I help you?”

“Miss Jian, our princess wishes to speak with you.” The maid said.

Princess?

She raised an eyebrow. Was Lola the peacock trying to put on an act again?

“Our princess is waiting for you outside the cruise ship. Can you please come with me?” The maid continued.

Jian Qing’s lips parted slightly, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.

What game is Lola the Peacock trying to play now?
