?Chapter 454: 440, It’s a pity you didn’t become an actor (1)_1 Chapter 454: 440, It’s a pity you didn’t become an actor (1)_1 “Xiya, ever since you left, Khan has been searching for you. Calling out your name in his sleep and often getting horribly drunk. He even mistook me for you once; he truly loves you.”
In his sleep?
He thought Daisy was her?
Was she implying that Khan thought she was her, and they ended up in bed together?
Xiya scoffed internally. She didn’t care whether it was true or not, she neither wanted to know nor showed any interest.
A smirk played on her lips as she asked calmly, “So, are you implying that you’ve been living together ever since I left?”
A trace of panic flashed across Daisy’s face as if trying to hide something, “No that’s not it. We were not living together. Khan just mistook me for you when he was drunk and wouldn’t let me go. That’s why I stayed around to tend to him. Nothing beyond that happened.”
The way she rushed to explain things only made everything seem more suspicious.
She wanted to provoke Xiya. Ideally, to the point of causing her to miscarry.
Xiya remained calm, watching Daisy as though watching a show that was of no concern to her.
If these were her only tactics, Xiya wasn’t interested in wasting any more time with her than necessary.
“Is there anything else you’d like to add?”
Seeing Xiya remain completely calm, Daisy began to lose confidence.
Her gaze shifted before she continued, “Xiya, you’re pregnant with Khan’s child now. You two shouldn’t fight anymore because of me. I would feel guilty, and besides, the baby needs a father, right?”
Xiya suddenly felt an urge to laugh. Where did this woman get her misplaced confidence, she wondered? She certainly played the innocent card quite well.
“Who said my child is Khan’s, huh?”
Daisy was taken aback, then quickly readjusted her face to a sympathetic expression, “Xiya, I know you’re still upset with Khan, but I—”
Listening to her endless chatter, Xiya was running out of patience.
She interrupted her, “Who decided that my child has to be Khan’s? Daisy, you brought me here today after all the circling around and talk—is it because you want to convince me to make peace with Khan, to return to him?”
Chances were, if she and Khan were to reconcile, Daisy would be the first one to weep.
What a hypocrisy, she thought. Did Daisy really believe she could fool her yet again?
“Xiya, I truly wish for your happiness with Khan,” Daisy said earnestly. “I admit that I love Khan very much. But we’re just friends now, so you shouldn’t be upset with him anymore. Make peace with him.”
Xiya leaned forward slightly, her eyes wandered up to meet Daisy’s. An aloof smile on her face, she said, “Daisy, I really appreciate your concern for Khan and me.”
“It’s no trouble; it’s the least I can do,” Daisy said, her sharp nails digging into her palm. Despite the pain, she kept smiling. “After all, you two started fighting because of me.”
Xiya laughed lightly, and her tone took a turn, “There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you for a while now.”
“What is it?”
Looking into Xiya’s deep green eyes, Daisy was filled with an inexplicable sense of panic.
“Actually, it’s a pity that you’re not pursuing a career as an actress.”
After saying that, she put on her sunglasses and got up to leave.
Daisy’s face turned pale and she bit her lip, “Xiya, I don’t understand what you mean.”
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t get it,” she said, standing up and looking down at Daisy. “But let me warn you, I do have many faults. My biggest flaw is my temper; most of the time when I can use force, I don’t bother using my brain, especially with people who underestimate me and try to show off.”
Daisy tried to hide the resentment in her eyes, barely holding back her anger.
Xiya watched Daisy’s face change color. The phoney smile on her face was faltering and she felt very pleased about that.
She leaned down, held Daisy’s chin, and then slowly uttered, “And one more thing, if a man is rejected by me, no one can covet him without my permission. Not even dream about it.”
Leaving Daisy behind, Xiya turned around and walked away with carelessness.
Left alone, Daisy watched Xiya leave through the window. Her eyes blazed with anger which she could no longer suppress.
“Xiya!”
Her once pretty face twisted into an ugly sneer, and her lower lip was bleeding from her bite.
We’ll see about that.
If you can have Khan’s child, I certainly won’t lose to you.
Definitely not!
After seeing Daisy, Xiya was quite exhausted. She didn’t stick around and took a cab straight back to Shijin Haoting.
The car stopped outside the gate of Shijin Haoting. She paid the driver and got out of the car.
Just as she turned around, she saw a familiar figure under a tree out of the corner of her eye.
The bright blond hair shimmered under the winter sun.
She snickered, what a coincidence that she ran into him right after she left Daisy.
She ignored him and walked past him. Hearing his rich voice, she showed no inclination of stopping.
“Xiya!”
Khan quickened his pace to catch up and block her path.
“What is it?”
Xiya stopped, took a step back to put some distance between them.
Looking at his haggard face, she couldn’t help but pause.
Ever since she left Shijin Haoting, Khan had been drinking himself to sleep every night. He missed her, wanted to see her, but feared making her hate him even more. After agonizing for a few days, he could not hold back any longer.
He intended to stay in the corner, secretly observing her from a distance. A mere glimpse from afar would have contented him.
However, the moment he saw her, he knew he lacked the self-discipline he thought he possessed. He longed to be near her, speak to her and see her up close like this.
Khan had dark circles under his eyes, devoid of his usual brilliance and emitting a sense of sadness and decay.
He opened his mouth and mustered a soft utterance, “Xiya, how have you…been recently?”
“I’m doing well,” Xiya replied calmly.
She turned her gaze away. Although her mind seemed clearly resolved, her resolve wavered slightly at the sight of his haggard face.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back now.”
