?Chapter 57: 57_1, Did it hit your painful spot? Chapter 57: 57_1, Did it hit your painful spot? An Mansion
Busy with the termination of their contract with JK International, the three members of the An family had no time until late in the evening. They came home with frustration, expecting to confront Jian Qing, only to be informed by their housekeeper that Jian Qing would not return home that night, worsening their frustration further.

As the three of them fumed, the entire An household was made aware of the incident that had taken place earlier in the day at JK International. The peace and tranquillity of the An mansion was disturbed setting off a storm that left no one unaffected.

At the end of the corridor off the second floor, a figure leaned against a closed study door, the ear pressed to the door, carefully holding their breath, apparently afraid of being discovered by those inside.

“What are you doing?” A cold voice sounded from behind, causing the woman at the door to start and quickly turn around.

Upon seeing who it was, the woman sighed in relief, complaining, “You scared me, brother.”

The woman eavesdropping beside the door was none other than An Yu.

An Yun frowned, glanced at the closed study door, and understood. “Yuyu, this is dad’s study. What are you doing here?”

His voice was loud, and An Yu worried it would disturb their parents inside. She quickly walked over and whispered, “Brother, mom is inside too. I was afraid she would start arguing with dad, so I stood here. If things got bad, I could try to mediate.”

“If you were truly concerned, you wouldn’t have been the one stoking the fire in the living room. You are clearly trying to create discord between mom and dad.” An Yun snorted coldly.

Even though he didn’t know exactly what happened seventeen years ago, he was certain that Jian Qing’s mother was the fuse causing friction between their parents. No woman could stand her husband longing for another woman deep in his heart.

Having been annoyed all day by Jian Qing, An Yu looked wronged, “I wasn’t wrong. If it weren’t for Jian Qing, I wouldn’t have broken the contract with JK International. It’s all that little bitch Jian Qing’s fault.”

While saying this, An Yu’s beautiful face had turned twisted, her eyes revealing a deep hatred.

What angered her more was that Master Jing even stood up for that little bitch Jian Qing. That was Quan Jingwu, an unmatched nobleman. Why did he favour Jian Qing so much?

An Yun caught her shoulder, his voice growing stern, “Yuyu, Jian Qing clearly bears a grudge against our family. You are no match for her, stay clear of her in the future.”

To be in JK International and to have Quan Jingwu on her side, Jian Qing, is definitely not simple.

“I don’t want to.” An Yu shook off his hand, completely devoid of the warmth she usually displayed in front of others. “Why should I? I am the rightful heiress of the An family. Why should I always step down for her? I will not.”

An Yun knew that she had been greatly provoked by Jian Qing today, so he didn’t get angry, “Yuyu, if you insist on confronting Jian Qing, things like today will only happen more often. Think it over.”

“This is my business. I’ll deal with it.” An Yu was too angry to take An Yun’s advice.

Suddenly, An Yu lost interest in eavesdropping and pushed An Yun away, sulkily heading back to her room.

“Bang––”
The sound of her slamming the door echoed in the long corridor.

Shaking his head, An Yun glanced at the still-closed study door before turning around and leaving without a hint of reluctance.

Maybe the insulation in An Mansion was too good; none of the commotion outside affected the two people in the room.

In the study, An Chong and Zhao Xuan sat facing each other with only an office desk between them.

Zhao Xuan sat straightened with her hands on her knees, graceful as always, only the anger and hatred in her eyes betrayed her demeanor.

Gazing at the man opposite of her with closed eyes, faint wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, one could still see the handsome visage from his younger years.

Zhao Xuan reflected, perhaps she was bewitched by that face back in the day.

Zhao Xuan broke the silence between them, “Aren’t you going to say something?”

With her words, An Chong opened his eyes. Instead of answering immediately, he picked up a teacup on the side and began to sip it calmly.

As Zhao Xuan watched, the hands on her knees gradually tightened, bitterness rising from her heart.

This was the man she had been sharing her bed for over twenty years. In all these years of marriage, she had never seen him get worried over her, not even when it concerned their two children. She thought, maybe it’s in his nature.

However, when that woman appeared, she realized how naive she had been. It wasn’t that he was indifferent and cold-hearted; it was that she and their children were not as important as that woman.

Now, with Jian Qing’s appearance, her carefully managed peaceful family life was shattered.

How could she not hate that?

“Yuyu’s collaboration with JK International was spoiled by Jian Qing. Don’t you plan to do anything? After all, she’s your daughter.” Zhao Xuan said.

An Chong frowned and put down the teacup, “Who can influence JK International? If it weren’t for Quan Jingwu’s agreement, do you think Jian Qing alone would have been able to end Yuyu’s contract?”

Quan Jingwu, the most concealed man of the Quan family, even he had to give him some respect.

His words sounded like a defense for Jian Qing to Zhao Xuan. Her hand, which had been clenched and unclenched, wrinkled her skirt as she grabbed it.

She smiled coldly, “Really? Perhaps we shouldn’t be discussing Yuyu. We should be discussing Jian Qing, or that shameless woman.”

“Zhao Xuan.” An Chong’s face darkened.

“What, did I hit a nerve?” Zhao Xuan said, her eyes piercing him with her sarcasm. “That woman is shameless, and her daughter is the same. They’re absolutely disgusting.”

“Bang––” An Chong raised his hand and slammed it hard against the table, producing a loud ringing sound.

“Zhao Xuan, you better know your limits, don’t go too far!”

Zhao Xuan stood up, seemingly unconcerned, “An Chong, where do you think I’m being excessive? All these years, you’re still clinging to that bitch who’s been dead for so long. Where do you think that leaves me? Do you think I’m dead?”

Before she could finish her sentence, she reached out and grabbed the picture frame on the table, smashing it to the ground before he could even react.

It was too sudden for An Chong. He could only watch helplessly as the picture frame fell to the ground.

“Thud––” The elegant black frame shattered upon hitting the floor, the glass broken, the picture inside it tumbling out.

However, it wasn’t just one picture but two.

One large and one small, an instant piercing pain in Zhao Xuan’s eyes.

Zhao Xuan rushed forward, managing to pick up the two photos before An Chong could. She found a smaller photo hidden behind their family picture. Tears slipped down her cheeks.

“Zhao Xuan, give it back.” An Chong circled the desk and demanded sternly, “Give it back to me before I lose my temper!”
