Chapter 156: Was it a Coincidence?
Chapter 156: Was it a Coincidence?
It had been one day and one night since the monster subjugation mission had taken place to deal with the monster hordes.
Those monsters would trample over several towns and villages. Hundreds of elite warriors rushed to deal with the problem.
Unfortunately, the monster hordes remained fearless regardless of what the hunters did to taunt them. The monsters kept advancing.
The method of scaring and herding the monsters failed. Still, a brave warrior suddenly charged forward with his God-tier holy spear. He launched an ultimate AoE attack to cut off the path the monsters were about to go through.
As a result, the monsters fled and took other paths. The AoE attack caused the ground to collapse a few minutes later.
The brave warrior was the only one who fell into an underground river. His head hit a rock as he fell and sent him unconscious, after which he was swept away by the current.
---
"Achoo!" A particular haggard white-haired man wiped his nose while rubbing his arms. It was cold, and he shivered even though his qi had already protected him from the cold air.
His winter jacket was lost in the current, and his storage pouch was also lost somewhere. Only his holy spear, flying sword, casual outfit, and a little storage pouch, which he hid in his inner clothing, remained.
Fortunately, he secured the precious items and demonic beast carcasses in that little pouch. So, he didn’t feel so lost.
*Growl*
His stomach growled. He rubbed his stomach as he looked for something to eat and a safe place to spend the night.
He had a lot of prey in his little storage pouch. Yet, that kind of high-grade demonic beast’s meat couldn’t just be eaten, especially with his mediocrity processing and refining skills.
"It’s been a few hours, and I’m still lost in the forest? Where is this? I’ve struggled to return to the surface, and I’m still lost? The goddamn underground river and the fcking forest. Has my luck run out?" Bai Yuchen climbed up the tree because he felt he was getting lost deeper into the forest instead.
It was already dusk when he came out of the underground. It was very late at night, and he was still lost in the forest. He had already flown quite a distance using his flying sword, but going aimlessly by constantly consuming his qi would be detrimental.
He had to preserve some spiritual energy to deal with the unexpected. After all, this place was an unknown region for him.
"That’s very strange. I still couldn’t find good animals, not even a fish, to hunt. Even if I did find one, they were so adept at escaping... Never mind, fruit, mushroom, vegetable, or any edible plant will do. I will starve to death at this rate." Bai Yuchen hopped from one tree to another tree like a ninja.
The fruits, mushrooms, and plants that grew in that unknown forest were unique and strange, very different from what he had found in previous forest areas.
He picked a few and sniffed each of them to determine whether they were poisonous. Even though he was still astonished by the flora’s uniqueness, he could tell those foods were edible. He could even feel a faint of spiritual energy from them.
After his food basket was full, he went to a seemingly safe place to enjoy dinner.
It was winter and snowing. The wood was frozen or damp. He couldn’t build a bonfire without some dry wood. Therefore, he could only bite his lower lips and take out a spirit stone. He did something with it before it could be used as a substitute for fire magic crystal.
He used simple fire magic and sacrificed a spirit stone to fuel the fire to keep it burning. An alternative bonfire, but that was an expensive one.
After roasting some mushrooms, he added fruit and some edible plant. His emergency dinner was then ready to eat. He devoured it like there was no tomorrow. After all, he was starving.
"Burp!" Bai Yuchen rubbed his bulging stomach.
*Rumble*
"Ugh!" Bai Yuchen clenched his bulging stomach as he suddenly had a stomachache.
He prostrated himself and rolled around, hoping his stomachache would subside. Unfortunately, the constipation was no longer bearable.
"Holy fck. Goddamn shit. I ate too much." Bai Yuchen gritted his teeth because the real shit would about to come out. He held his buttocks and immediately ran into the nearby thick bushes.
At that moment, a group of five masked people clad in a black outfit had just arrived in the vicinity.
They stared at the bonfire fueled by a spirit stone, then at the strange noise in the bushes.
"Who are you? What do you want from me? I’m just nameless nobody. Someone who’s lost and has nothing of value. Please be kind and leave me alone. Ugh... Ah, ohh..." Bai Yuchen sensed several people coming closer. He was alert but still squeezing hard to relieve his stomachache.
"You intruded into our territory and defecated in our forest?" Michael frowned. Luckily, he already wore his half-face mask. Thus, he wasn’t bothered by the stench from the bushes.
"Brother, that doesn’t mean I want to infiltrate your territory. I’m just lost. Ugh, please pardon my unsightly behavior. I have a constipated stomach. I appreciate you if you don’t peep at me." Bai Yuchen waved his hand and raised the white flag.
He could sense no malicious intent from the other parties and was a little relieved by that.
"..." Gabriella felt disgusted. She still kept her distance.
She gave some signals to her juniors because she recognized the voice. That lost person was none other than the young hero, Bai Yuchen. The Guardian of Dream monitored this person’s movements.
After their master gave him a gift as a token of kindness, they could tell something of it. This young hero would play an important role in various events in the future.
"Tch, fine. Consider yourself lucky, boy. You better get back to where you came from. These mountains aren’t a place you can just wander around." Azrael rubbed her head with a sigh.
He could see nothing special about this smelly white-haired boy other than the God-tier spear, but his master had a plan for this boy.
"I also want to return as soon as possible. But, this... may I know where I am right now? Also, how can I return to the Reustin City in the Human Realm?" Bai Yuchen raised his head from the bushes.
"The forest at night is too dangerous for you to go anywhere. Go to the mountain foot in the southwest, and you will find an empty hut atop an oak tree." Gabriella hinted as she didn’t want to divulge any clue about anything that could lead anyone to their Sacred Mountain.
Her master’s words were ringing in her head about Bai Yuchen’s luck. She understood it, and he was indeed a lucky boy because he came to this place only because he got lost, despite the massive formation arrays.
However, if she recalled the past... she and her juniors also strayed here and were rescued by her master. Regardless, she needed to tell her master how they needed to handle this young hero. However, it would wait for tomorrow.
"We’re not unreasonable. Be a good boy, and you won’t get yourself in trouble." Azrael gave a warning before he left with the others.
They scattered in five directions because they didn’t want anyone to follow them. However, their destination was actually the same.
"Thank you very much, seniors! Ugh, agh!" Bai Yuchen raised his hand high, but his stomach was still constipated and torturous.
He mixed too much food out of hunger and ate them all simultaneously. It led him to his current situation, and he could only blame himself for it.
After relieving himself for a few minutes, he rushed to the indicated place hinted by the generous senior sister.
It was a simple wooden house on a large tree that had lost some leaves. He climbed up and found some living support furniture, including a fireplace and heater.
He decided to spend the night there after setting up a defense mechanism to prevent anything untoward while sleeping.
The night passed, and the morning sun rose, giving warmth to the land covered by a blanket of snow.
Ely woke up late because she fell asleep a bit later than usual.
The sun was visible on the eastern horizon, and breakfast was served on the table. Gabriella, Rafaela, Yuuki, and Evelyn were busy in the kitchen.
Seeing that, Ely smiled gently and went before the Goddess statue for her usual morning prayer. However, Kirara was already there, kneeling in deep prayer.
"..." Ely wanted to say something, but she swallowed her words. She clasped her hands in prayer before the Goddess statue.
A few minutes later, she opened her eyes and finished her morning prayer.
"Good morning."
Kirara was already standing right beside Ely. She greeted me with a sweet smile.
"Um, good morning, Kirara." Ely replied with a tender smile.
Everyone then exchanged some good morning greetings. Gabriella then informed a somewhat shocking report right after their family’s breakfast.
"The young hero, Bai Yuchen, got lost near here? But he hasn’t contacted me yet. How did he know our Sacred Mountain’s location? Was it a coincidence?" Ely asked in wonder while looking to the southwest.
