Chapter 159: Red Demon’s Ambush

Yuuki teleported to Evelyn’s location using the teleportation crystal. She stared to her left and right as the current snowy mountainous region was foreign.

Spruce and pine trees flourished all around, and snow covered the ground. The sky was the typical turquoise color of the Human Realm.

Yuuki then turned to the two girls nearby. They were lying on the snow while observing something using binoculars. She then asked. "What about your current situation, Eve?"

"Eh?" Evelyn gasped because she never expected a friend to appear behind her. She then beckoned for Yuuki to come down next to her. "Yuuki? What are you doing here? Then, what about Ely?"

"Ely ended her seclusion this morning. She asked me to help you eradicate the evolved red demon so you all can return earlier." Yuuki went down on her stomach.

"That’s good. We have spotted him." Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief.

"Is that so? Then, tell me where he is now. With me joining the execution team, we can finish this faster than estimated." Yuuki squinted her eyes at the cliff hundreds of meters ahead.

"He is inside that cliff’s crevice. There is a deep cave that leads underground. Can you feel the demonic aura emanating from there? The faint stench of blood and death permeated in the air too." Evelyn pointed at one of the gaps in the cliff.

"How many people are involved in this operation?" Yuuki nodded in understanding.

"About three hundred forty-two. Apart from me, Kirara, and Gabriella’s squad, experts from various righteous sects came to hunt down the red demon. They found him before us. We will wait for their ambush plan to unfold first." Evelyn pointed to some people on the opposite hill. They were ready to ambush and attack the enemy.

"Then, we will deal with the aftermath." Yuuki heaved a subtle sigh. She felt those cultivators would suffer from the evolved red demon.

The strongest one was only an 8th Rank old man. As for the others, all of them were in the 6th Rank or below.

Even so, those humans would help measure the opponent’s capabilities. She could sense Gabriella and the other disciples were already waiting for those cultivators to ambush the evolved red demon too.

"Elder Ping, everything is ready. We will ambush him and make him pay for all the sins he has committed." A cultivator in a white robe clasped his hands before the old man in a black-white taoist robe.

"Good, then we shall exterminate him today." Elder Ping took a golden stick and summoned his hundred-petal silver lotus under his feet.

He then floated into a cave and left an instruction to the other experts. "My battle against the demon will be legendary, and the surrounding area may be destroyed. Keep your distance and stop him when he tries to escape."

"Understood."

"All hail, Elder Ping from the Virtuous Valley. We shall intercept him and block his escape path for you."

"The red demon shall be slaughtered today!"

The surrounding cultivators clamored. They then rushed to take up positions for the siege.

"There are countless paths to heaven, yet you barged into the gate of hell. By the name of justice, I shall exterminate you today, demon!" Elder Ping used his eye’s ability to spot the enemy’s presence within the cave.

He could see the red demon was somewhere four hundred meters inside. That demon was meditating in a pool of blood among a pile of bones. Thus, he immediately flew in.

"You human is definitely noisy. An Emperor-class cultivator, huh... I have never tasted such a high-rank flesh and blood. You also came with a bunch of nourishment for me. Wonderful!" The red demon got up from the pool of blood and grinned super wide.

"I shall ensure your demise today! Mountain Chop!" Elder Ping made his move. He swung his golden stick vertically.

The slash penetrated several walls as if splitting the cliff in two from the inside. However, the red demon swiftly evaded the slash.

"Nova Demonic Form!" The red demon streaked like a red comet. He lunged at the 8th Rank old man with silver wolf-claw gauntlets wrapped around his hands.

"Impeccable Golden Body, activate!" Elder Ping put his hands together. He used his trademark technique, and his body became radiant with a layer of sparkling gold.

*Boom!*

The bright golden elemental energy clashed with the red destructive demonic energy. The entire cliff exploded from within, leaving rubble behind.

However, two experts shot out and continued their fight in the sky.

"Hundred Clones Insight! Even though Buddha will spare you, I am the one who will send you to him." Elder Ping summoned a hundred elemental clones to attack the red demon.

"Keke, not even a Buddha can kill me, let alone a puny human like you. Silver Blitz!" The red demon unleashed a barrage of claw attacks into the surrounding air, tearing the surrounding clones to pieces.

Elder Ping felt a prolonged battle would be detrimental to him. He had already released two of his ultimate moves, but they could barely leave any damage to the red demon.

The enemy was only a 6th Rank Peak Stage demon, but his 8th Rank attacks were still meaningless.

"Activate the grand array formation now!" Elder Ping shouted out to his people.

"Demon-slaying Grand Formation, activate!" Dozens of cultivators immediately activated a formation with themselves as catalysts.

A massive white magic circle was activated, enveloping the area within a three-hundred-meter radius. The demonic energy was suppressed by two ranks instantly.

The red demon was astonished by the domain’s suppression, but it couldn’t prevent him from slaughtering the surrounding people. He killed the nearest ones one after another to destroy the grand formation. Regardless, the 8th Rank old man and several other cultivators immediately showered him with barrages of attacks.

"..." Yuuki sat on a log while enjoying the show. She and Evelyn watched the clashes in the sky as if they were watching an action movie.

"Uhm..." Kirara was speechless. She had two powerful experts by her side, but they wanted to avoid getting involved too soon.

"If they succeed, we can go home without a sweat. But if they fail, then it’s our showtime. Would you like some?" Evelyn reassured Kirara and gave her friend a popcorn box.

"Alright then." Kirara put her holy sword into her lap and sat on the log.

Her holy sword was a gift from Ely, but she hasn’t had another chance to use it to slay the evil again after that hellish incident. She stroked it briefly before accepting the popcorn.

"Hmmh!" Elder Ping unleashed his golden palm spiritual attack to cripple the enemy.

He and the other experts released hundreds of destructive attacks in succession, and the red demon was already in a miserable battered state.

As the strongest one in that ambush mission, Elder Ping wished to execute the villain with his own hands to bring justice to those killed by this red demon.

"Five Gold Chains Pulling." Elder Ping threw a golden chain, which spread into five with a clone at each end.

The golden chains bound the injured red demon’s neck, both arms and legs. After that, Elder Ping threw dozens of red talismans at his clones, enveloping the chains in burning flames.

"Execute him on the spot." Elder Ping raised his two fingers, controlling and empowering his clones.

The five clones pulled the chains with great force. The red demon was split into five pieces and burned in a blazing fire. The weakened red demon could do nothing, and he was killed.

"Is it over?"

"The red demon is dead?"

That question arose in everyone’s minds. Over ten people died within the ten minutes, but the casualties were horrific in just the last two weeks. Nevertheless, the demon was dead for good. The heroes might have fallen, but the evil was successfully killed.

"..." Elder Ping stared at the five burnt body parts intently.

He was aware the red demon could revive after death. Still, he believed that burning the demon dead after splitting the demon into pieces would do something to prevent this demon’s revival.

After a few seconds, the grand formation slowly lost its effect.

Even though it was only a ten-minute battle, everyone was exhausted as they went all out, fighting against time while the red demon was being suppressed.

They unleashed their ultimate attacks continuously in that short amount of time. It took a heavy toll on their bodies and spirits. Everyone thought Elder Ping had succeeded in eliminating the red demon. Unfortunately, it was not over yet.

The red demon might be killed, but his death was still far away.

He emerged from the body of a nearby cultivator. He came out and stabbed the 8th Rank old man in the back. "Do you think I will die after you kill me? Surprise, human hypocrite."

"!?" Elder Ping noticed the sudden spike of demonic energy from behind, but it was too late. The demonic silver claws had pierced him and penetrated his chest.

"Ghak! H-how?" Elder Ping spat out a mouthful of blood. Over half of his spiritual energy had been depleted, but the enemy still seemed in prime condition.
