Chapter 162: Short Message in Stream of Memory
Chapter 162: Short Message in Stream of Memory
A day of silence had arrived in the second week after the new year at the Sacred Mountain. It was a day where there was an hour or two when all the activities of sentient beings in the Sacred Mountain and its surrounding seemed to cease to exist.
There was no animal noise or even rustling wind. Everything was quiet because nobody wished to disturb the most respected person in Sacred Mountain to carry out her monthly sacred ritual.
The shrine priestess walked down the mountain unaccompanied by anyone. However, more than a hundred entities were secretly watching and guarding her from the distance.
*Tink-a-ling*
Ely gently shook her Kagura Verity every ten steps, leaving a gentle sound of bells in the stillness of the forest.
Her monthly sacred ritual would happen in a sealed cave in a remote location in the Sacred Mountain’s foothills, the only entrance to the sacred ground.
When she arrived at the location, she noticed the security was getting tighter because of her friends.
Everyone took part to secure her monthly sacred ritual to prevent any form of disturbance. She appreciated it.
"..." Ely took a deep breath and approached the sacred ground’s entrance with peace of mind. She would meet her Goddess Master again and regain some of her memory.
It was her usual monthly routine, but she felt a bit nervous this time for some reason. Even so, the excitement and expectation were more dominant. She might be able to unseal her Goddess Master next month.
Ely went through the sealing white rope and stepped into the cave mouth. She instantly disappeared as she had never been there before.
"!?" Zi Xuan widened her eyes in surprise but kept her composure. She put her guard up atop the nearby tree.
She saw Ely get teleported somewhere unknown. That cave was not very deep but shrouded in mysterious darkness. Anyone would be thrown out if they tried to enter that place, but mostly, the unrecognized trespassers would vanish into the void if they dared to pass through the sealing rope.
Nobody could enter the sacred ground but Ely. However, her case was unique because she was already there when the Heavenly Star Fall happened.
Zi Xuan gulped her saliva nervously. Ely’s Goddess Master still scared her. She hoped Ely could bring her coffin near that large spherical kaleidoscopic crystal out without any problem.
*Zap*
Ely got teleported to the cave’s open space. The sparkling blue crystal light scattered everywhere, illuminating the place with a sacred feeling.
She had no idea whether she was still in the Sacred Mountain, but whenever she visited her Goddess Master, she always felt like she had gone to a separate dimension.
The large spherical kaleidoscopic crystal was still there, hovering a few centimeters above a sacred altar.
Ely looked at the kaleidoscopic crystal for a few seconds before paying her respect. Her Goddess Master couldn’t be seen yet.
’Mhm, let’s save Zi Xuan’s body first.’ Ely turned around and used a magic item to make the nearby blue crystal coffin and debris float.
How Zi Xuan could end up in this sacred ground remained a mystery. It happened a month ago, but she didn’t make a big deal out of it.
Ely put the blue coffin and the debris into her storage pouch. Everything was completed in seconds because she felt every moment she spent here was precious. Also, she only had five minutes before being ejected from the sacred ground!
Ely then rushed to the kaleidoscopic crystal and knelt to show reverence and obedience to authority. "All praise is only for you, master."
After saying that, she burned some incense and clasped her hands in prayer. She conveyed everything she wished to speak through the spiritual connection she could faintly feel connected to her Goddess Master.
The kaleidoscopic crystal glowed slightly, and that multi-colored crystal turned somewhat transparent, revealing the six-winged injured Goddess sealed within it.
A stream of memory and revelation flowed into Ely’s mind. This time, she could see a girl with the same appearance as her. However, that girl was more mature, sexy, and had elements of darkness.
Her twin sister, Ai. Ely gave the name, and it means love. But, some people sometimes would call her Aisha, and it means life. Ai’s previous name in her previous life was Alisha, but Ai abandoned that name and preferred her new name.
Ely and Ai got trapped in an extreme vacuum environment where ordinary living things could never survive, outer space with almost no light. There was also an incredible four-winged dragon-like void beast, Ai’s pet.
Their survival journey began. Their enemies vary from shadow-like beasts, void creatures, and even asteroid monsters.
They dared not go too far from their dark star home because that void-like realm was boundless. They might encounter many powerful God-tier creatures and get lost somewhere unknown.
The first and only God-tier creature they encountered was a twelve-winged giant eyeball with countless smaller eyes the size of a mini-star, the only shining creature in that super dark realm.
Ely was amazed when she saw that magnificent heavenly entity, but that creature seemed to be looking at her for some reason. It should just be a memory.
The strangest thing that happened next was she saw the entire event from a third-person point of view. Ai and her (Ely) were there. They would challenge the strongest creature in that star cluster to find a way out.
They were already in their battlesuit, but they also stared at her. Her other self said something to her, but she could hear nothing. She could only read her other self’s lips movements.
Ai, the void dragon and her other self then challenged the heavenly being. The golden light shone brightly, dazzling her eyes.
Ely then heard a faint gentle voice in her mind.
"It’s about the time for your tribulation and divine revelation. Take your time- don’t overdo it. They’re watching us. You may-"
---
"Gasp..." Ely returned to her sense with a gasp.
She then raised her head, looking at her Goddess Master with reverence. Her Goddess Master specifically spoke to her. It was not just a stream of memory.
So many questions came to her mind, but she didn’t dare to ask. Unfortunately, her Goddess Master gradually could no longer be seen because the multi-coloured kaleidoscopic crystal lost its transparency.
’That twelve-winged heavenly being was the one who injured my Goddess Master? That creature hurt my mother. Unforgivable!’ Ely clenched her fist. She was angry, but she immediately checked her timer. It was almost five minutes!
She spent the next few seconds sending her prayers and hopes in her heart as if she knew her Goddess Master could hear them. She also informed her Goddess Master by summarizing the events she experienced that month.
After that, she stood and bowed once before turning to the teleportation array.
She couldn’t witness the outer space God-tier battle, but her Goddess Master gave her a mysterious blessing when the previous super bright golden light occurred.
Also, she could hear her mother’s voice! Even though she didn’t understand what that meant.
Ely looked at the kaleidoscopic crystal again, but the scenery suddenly changed. She didn’t need to do anything and returned to the cave’s entrance.
"Phew..." Ely heaved a subtle sigh. She almost witnessed the battle between her Goddess Master and that magnificent heavenly entity. That creature was the villain here.
She gazed at the cave’s darkness, then wrote something on her note. She had to decipher the meaning of the message her Goddess Master conveyed soon.
She knew her master’s words had not finished and got cut off suddenly. That was why she needed to unravel the mystery.
After that, she walked away up the stairs.
"Holy Maiden Ely~ Did you do it?" Zi Xuan shot out like a gust of wind and floated beside Ely.
"Yes. It’s in my storage pouch. Let’s return first. I need to rearrange my thoughts for a moment." Ely held her head.
"Okay..." Zi Xuan spoke no more after that. She just hovered beside Ely until they returned to the shrine abode.
Even Sylvia and Yuuki just followed closely behind. Everyone could see Ely was a little agitated for some mysterious reason.
The first thing Ely did was draw the twelve-winged heavenly entity as she had to remember this villain’s appearance while the image was still so vivid in her mind.
"Hmm?" Yuuki was curious. Her fluffy tails kept swaying left and right, but she made no noises and only watched Ely from behind.
Everyone was watching silently, but they suddenly gasped in surprise when they saw the painting of a twelve-winged giant, eyeball creature with countless other smaller eyes. The golden light shone brightly in the dark depiction of the starry universe, but the painting seemed to glow too.
Yuuki, Sylvia, and Evelyn soon paled as they could recognize that heavenly creature. They had no idea why Ely suddenly drew that supreme being, but it wouldn’t be a good sign if Ely finished the painting.
"E-Ely... please stop. I’m afraid what you draw will come here." Yuuki grasped Ely’s arm with a slight stutter and fear.
"Why did you suddenly draw this one? But, yeah... please don’t finish this painting." Sylvia took the unfinished painting away from Ely’s hands.
"Huh? But why? That is the villain. Our possible enemy." Ely widened her eyes. She would also use the painting to ask her friends about that heavenly entity, but they were terrified. It was only a painting.
"No, no... You can’t call her a villain. She helped our Goddess Master once, but we can’t consider her a friend either. Let’s say she’s still in the grey zone, but please be aware that anything related to her is dangerous." Evelyn took the brush from Ely’s hand.
"Uh, okay... Then, I’ll seal it." Ely was confused but considerate enough to respect her friends’ warnings.
They were alert and afraid of that heavenly entity. However, she wondered why and how the twelve-winged heavenly entity was not an enemy. Ely was confused, but she would save it for later.
After sealing the painting and placing it in her storage pouch, Ely summoned her grimoire to check something.
Chills and goosebumps soon crept from her feet to her head as she checked the top missions of the quest list.
