Chapter 194: The Missing Friend
Chapter 194: The Missing Friend
A fleet of imposing warships sliced through the vast expanse of the open ocean, embarking on a long and arduous journey. The scene was a majestic display of naval power, with each warship exuding an aura of strength and purpose.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue across the tranquil waters, the warships emerged as formidable silhouettes against the fading light. They sailed in a formation that showcased their disciplined coordination, a testament to the extensive training and preparation that had gone into this expedition.
The warships’ hulls, constructed of sturdy metal and reinforced with rugged plating, gleamed with a fresh coat of paint that seemed to defy the corrosive effects of saltwater. Cannons and armaments bristled from their sides, ready to respond to any threat that might emerge during their long journey across the uncharted expanses of the ocean.
Flags bearing the emblem of the blue soul fox faction fluttered proudly in the breeze, snapping sharply as if to announce their presence to the world.
As the fleet advanced, the rhythmic pounding of powerful engines reverberated through the vessels, propelling them forward with unwavering determination. The white foamy wakes churned behind each ship, creating a frothy trail that stretched far into the distance, marking their path through the boundless ocean.
Overhead, a squadron of fighter planes soared, serving as vigilant sentinels to ensure the fleet’s safety. Their wings sliced through the sky, leaving contrails that intertwined with the wisps of clouds.
The journey of the warship fleet was challenging. Storms tested their resolve, and the endless expanse of the ocean demanded unwavering focus and vigilance. Yet, driven by a sense of duty and camaraderie, the crew members pressed on, their hearts set on reaching their distant destination.
"Mother, what do we need to do?"
A bluish-white fox princess came into the command room, showing an urgent signal with just her agitated expression.
In contrast to her anxiety, the command room was still enveloped in serenity. Only her mother and her mother’s confidante remained in the room.
"Which one do you want to mention, my dear daughter, Lynn? We have just crossed the world’s boundary and headed for the Tearobis Great Continent. We also intend to look for our missing friend."
The graceful empress-looking bluish-white fox lady put her long pipe down, exhaling a delicate smoky breath that exuded an herbal floral fragrance typical of aromatherapy.
"Our friend, Vanessa, is still at Caelum World. She is confused about getting to Terra World before the winter ends. We also haven’t been able to contact anyone from Elysium core members, including our master." Lynn sat next to her mother, showing their busy chat group.
"Hmm~" The Fox Empress, Luna, leaned her body to the side, glancing at her daughter’s group chat. However, she couldn’t see anything as that feature was offered in their respective spirits.
Therefore, she accessed the Elysium Chat Group through her own spiritual connection. It emerged before her vision. After scrolling several times using her mind, she couldn’t find the people she was looking for.
"I see... Our Goddess Master Elysia and the other Goddesses haven’t been online since Goddess Zera’s announcement, huh... I hope everything is well on their side." Luna heaved a subtle sigh as she gazed upon the sunset on the western horizon.
"My Lady, then what about Miss Vanessa’s matter? She blames us for leaving without telling her." The nearby white bunny asked respectfully.
"We’ve crossed the world’s boundary. Our fleet will be in danger if we turn back now. Everyone knows we must return to the Terra World’s Northern Realm according to the four-year agreement. Yet, we couldn’t even find Vanessa’s whereabouts. We tried to find her for three months. It’s her fault to move independently and is very difficult to find." Luna held her forehead as she couldn’t think of a solution for Vanessa.
She intended to return to pick up Vanessa, but her fleet would run out of power before they could reach the Caelum World’s mainland. They would also deal with various unexpected factors such as monsters and so on.
After considering the risk of crossing the world boundary, she knew her crew members couldn’t bear a round trip between the two worlds.
Vanessa: [Master~ Did my prayers reach you? Please don’t let Zera take you away when your beloved cat isn’t home yet! Anyone, please pick me up. I must wait three months for another crossing-world flying boat to depart. I can’t wait that long...]
Xentia: [Alright, we will visit the Caelum World to pick you up, Vannessa. Please share your exact location, and we will be there in two or three days.]
Vanessa: [Xentia, I love you! I am currently in the Achunara Region on the westernmost isle of the Caelum World. You can detect me easily when you arrive in this region.]
Xentia: [Affirmative. We are currently still in the Chthonic World’s outer space. We may take longer to arrive at your location.]
Vanessa: [That’s totally fine! We still have at least a month or two before the first snow in Terra World melts. However, outer space!? Are you on the outside planet or the boundary between the mortal worlds and the upper world?]
Xentia: [Understood. Yes, the planet’s orbit. We need the heavenly license to go to the Divine World because it is in a different celestial dimension despite being on the same planet.]
Vanessa: [Thank you very much! You are my best friend. Unlike Lynn and her mother... Those bad foxes just left without me. *sob* TT^TT]
Luna blinked her eyes with astonishment. Of all people, Xentia possessed a fleet of super sophisticated, futuristic spaceships, and Xentia could pick up Vanessa easily!
Luna: [Fufu, good for you, Vanessa. Please don’t blame us because the risk of turning around after crossing the world boundary is enormous. Our fleet may be shipwrecked before arriving at your location.]
Vanessa: [Yeah, I understand. I’m just complaining about my frustration. I planned to fly across the ocean, and it’s so wild.]
Morfina: [Cats don’t get along well with water. You may become fish food. Be a good cat and wait for Xentia to pick you up.]
Vanessa: [Are you mocking me, bimbo elf? I can swim and fly just fine!]
Yaereene: [Wonderful. Then, the matter is settled. But hey! Are you still there, Dorienne? Dory? You’re still alive, right? Why haven’t you even said anything since yesterday?]
Gabriella: [Come to think about it, you are right. Dory has yet to respond. Is she okay? Her status is the only one colored yellow. She is still alive, but why...]
Lyla: [Maybe something happened on her side? Dory has many defensive artifacts and Sea God blessings. She should still be okay, right?]
Lynn: [You are entirely correct! Dory, please report your condition. Where are you now? Are you still in the underwater world on the border of Terra World and Caelum World? Our blue soul fox fleet has almost entered the territory of those sea creatures. Would you like us to pick you up?]
Several people tried to reach Dorienne. Unfortunately, the results weren’t good because Dorienne didn’t respond at all.
Luna: [Something has happened to her. We will look for her news in the underwater world around this border ocean.]
Ariel: [You have Lynn, Yusagi, and the entire fleet of naval personnel by your side, but please be careful, Lady Luna. The sea is their territory, and they are not friendly to other races.]
Luna: [Thank you for your kind advice, Miss Ariel. We are fully aware of that. You also... please have a safe journey.]
Gabriella: [Understod. We shall cross the ocean today. But Xentia is around, and she will pick us up before going for Vanessa.]
Vanessa: [Wow, okay! But do you realize it? Evelyn, Yuuki, and Sylvia last accessed this group chat five hours ago.]
Morfina: [Now that you say it... Did something happen on their side? They also haven’t told us about the latest situation of our Goddess Master Elysia.]
Lynn: [Agree. Even though they are connected, Gio, Cherub, and Lixue have yet to join this group chat.]
Yusagi: [Miss, those dragons are passive readers on this channel. They read this group chat occasionally.
Lynn: [You seem right. Their status is green, and they have clearly read this chat. They just have trouble communicating.]
*Beep!* *Beep!* *Beep!*
"!?" Lynn was alarmed when the danger signal sounded all of a sudden.
The ocean waves suddenly became violent, and the wind blew fiercely. Several tens of kilometers ahead, a row of ships sailed towards them, revealing fierce troops and intimidating weaponry.
Those ships raised a black flag and exploded black fireworks as if signaling the approaching fleet to surrender.
"Those are pirates. The sea races and sea monsters are on their back. Just like four years ago when we crossed this ocean... Yusagi, send a signal to all personnel. Those fish pirates declared war on us." Luna gave her command in a calm tone.
"Affirmative." Yusagi stood up, then excused himself.
A few moments later, all the Blue Soul Fox’s warships raised a red flag. Yusagi went to the flagship’s front deck, then exploded a red firework into the sky, declaring a bloodbath.
"This is Flagship. We are the overlord of the sea and sky, but those sea dweller pirates declared war on us. All warships fly to the sky! Destroy them with aerial attacks!" Luna declared her orders to all warships via the communication line.
"Warship One here. Roger, my lady!"
"Warship Two. Roger, ma’am!"
"Yeahaha! Warship Three here. We shall destroy those presumptuous fish pirates for you, Her Majesty!"
"Warship Four. Affirmative. Switch to flight mode."
"Aircraft One to Six shall send first warning strike."
Some response soon came, but Luna had other plans. "Sunk their ships and make sure they suffer. We shall destroy their fleet and capture their people, especially their leaders. They are pirates, but they chose the wrong prey. We are their nightmare~"
"..." Lynn shuddered a little as she looked at her mother’s faint smirk.
She knew it was related to Dorienne, their pink mermaid friend. However, it was also like revenge because they suffered a lot when facing the pirates for the first time on the trip to Caelum World four years ago.
Regardless, they would destroy their opponents and capture some to interrogate those pirates.
