Chapter 276: A Bedtime Story
Chapter 276: A Bedtime Story
Amy grumbled under her breath because Elysia played her, and that somehow made her indebted to something that would be worth her life!?
"Fufu, sorry. I was joking. Don’t take it to heart." Elysia chuckled lightly and patted Amy’s back.
"No one would play Heavenly Curse as a joke, my lady. But... alright, you showed me that you can handle the Heavenly Curse like a child’s play. That would really help us. So, please ascend to the Divine World sooner!" Amy pumped her fists, eager to encourage the Supreme Goddess to go to the Divine World.
"Not so soon. I have spoken with He-Dao and other Heaven Rank members. They will assist my people in eradicating the Heavenly Demon’s seeds in the mortal worlds." Elysia shook her head.
"Hmm, so many remnants were left behind in the lower realms. What about the suspicious Immortal hiding on that moon?" Nell rubbed her chin, looking at Amy with a meaningful look.
"I released him on a condition. He is still looking for his clan’s lost heirloom. He got a signal that it was somewhere in the mortal world, and that’s it. He will still receive heavenly punishment later, but he is willing to accept it when he returns." Amy shrugged her shoulders and sighed.
"And there’s another Immortal, right? Also the Heavenly Rebel, and the Heaven’s children." Fortuna rested her cheek against her hand, staring at the twin moons above.
"Heavenly Rebel? Ugh, that would be hard to find. However, Heaven’s children? Who are you referring to?" Amy scratched her head.
"The Heaven’s favored ones. You don’t know about them?" Nell frowned, feeling something was wrong.
"Oh, they... We call them the divine envoys. The Son of Heaven and the Daughter of Heaven are their titles. They work for the Heavenly Principles under Heaven’s Laws. They have successfully reincarnated, hmm..." Amy checked her notebook and nodded in understanding.
"Let’s call it a day. Disciples, please notify all disciples about our future plan. Please handle all matters within two weeks and return to Sacred Mountain. We shall carry out our main quest soon." Elysia informed Miko’s disciples.
"Understood." Michael saluted. He and his juniors then excused themselves as they needed to do something immediately.
Since it was already night, Fortuna’s exploration team decided to rest. Elysia’s little group stayed on the Fortuna’s floating boat. They flew westward.
It was a small camping event on the floating boat’s deck with a sky full of stars as their roof. Elysia shared a fairytale from a distant land as a bedtime story.
"The unnecessary sacrifice heroes. That’s so sad..." Miko hugged her mama’s waist.
"They will die young as heroes or live long enough to see themselves become villains. However, they often forget that there are many better options." Lynn raised her finger, and she gained her sisters’ attention.
"Heroes aren’t born heroes because they call themselves that, right? It’s someone else who gives them that title." Vanessa nodded in agreement.
"Hey, you skipped the deep meaning of our master’s story. That is unnecessary sacrifice heroes. They sacrificed themselves for a better world, but they forgot the ones they protect are often more despicable than the monsters and demon lords they fight. Humans can be more evil, and I, as a devil, am sometimes impressed." Sylvia argued with a subtle sarcasm.
"Uhm, yeah... The heroes saved the world by defeating the demon lords. He lost all of his power and loved ones, but when he returned to the kingdom he protected, he was labeled as a traitor to humanity and hunted by everyone like an international criminal. It’s so cruel and unfair..." Alicia wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.
She and her fellow witch sisters felt sad. That fairy tale hit them hard, considering they were the witches assigned to save and guide humanity to the right path. However, the humans came to hate and hunt the witches when world peace was achieved.
"You see... the story teaches us that balance is needed. The long-lasting peace is harmful and will only bring another kind of destruction from within because most variables in the world are filled with greed." Fortuna heaved a subtle sigh.
"But, our Sacred Sakura gives the world the temporary peace it deserves, right? As long as we still stand strong, even the most evil Demon God will think twice about committing his atrocities." Jophiel stated her reason. As long as her master and Goddess Master were around, absolute peace could be achieved.
"Yeah, I understand your point. However, that’s only as long as we’re still around... We won’t stay here for long. Goddess Ely is already planning her trip to another world, and we haven’t talked about the divine ascension to the Divine World yet." Yae tapped her fellow pink-haired friend on the head.
"..." Jophiel glanced at the little fairy on her head. She was fully aware of the truth but felt it was too soon.
She had yet to receive the qualifications to stand alongside her seniors. And, most importantly, she didn’t want to be left behind!
"Fufu, please don’t argue. We have our own principles about life and justice. This is just a bedtime story. No need to take it seriously." Elysia spoke tenderly as she gave Miko a gentle head pat.
"Hmm~" Miko closed her eyes. She wished to sleep while hugging her mama.
"..." Jophiel looked at her master and heaved a subtle sigh. She then glanced at her Goddess Master with some thoughts in mind.
"Don’t overthink. You’re our people too, alright?" Elysia gave the restless Jophiel a head pat too.
"..." Jophiel nodded slightly with a slight blush on her beautiful face behind the veil.
The fluffy little friends went to take their comfortable spot on Elysia’s lap. However, Nell and Yae received the most comfortable spot among their fluffy friends, thanks to their fairy body size being no more than 12 centimeters.
Sylvia, Morfina, and Fortuna looked at each other as Elysia wanted to sleep. So, they would guard the night with the witches and Amy.
"Fwahh... Lady Fortuna, please let us know when you want to rest. We shall take turns to control this floating boat and guard the night." Alicia yawned and covered her mouth before lying down on her folding bed.
"Uh, alright..." Fortuna didn’t mind that arrangement. The witches were a bit tired and deserved more sleep than her. Well, she was alright without sleep, though.
Amy was still busy with her Heavenly Grimoire.
Fortuna left this Agent of Heaven alone, understanding Amy was still reporting something and arranging many things with the Heaven Rank’s members.
"Xentia will begin her attack on Amland City. The Beatific Light Faction was enlightened quite easily, huh..." Sylvia leaned against the taffrail, gazing at the land in the distance.
"She came using the name of the ’God of Light’ and the Sacred Sakura. The local overlords will obviously be afraid and immediately try their best to please her. However, based on predictions, the Angelic Light Faction will become complicated and then their significant resistance. What will Xentia do, hmm?" Morfina used her magic item and eye ability to gaze at the city in the distance.
They were over a thousand kilometers from Amland City, flying at an altitude of over thirty thousand feet. Nevertheless, they would watch Xentia in action with full interest.
---
"Hmm?" Xentia looked up at the night sky in the distance as if she knew her sisters were watching her from somewhere behind the clouds.
She smiled faintly and returned to focusing on her current task.
Her mission in the previous city to handle the Beatific Light Faction went relatively smoothly because many parties offered to help her right after she announced her task and origin. She didn’t even need to fight.
That faction was also quite cooperative because not all parties were involved in the inhumane experimentation. However, they were also terrified because she, the Deity under the name of Sacred Sakura, came with a battalion of experts.
The secret labs were destroyed, all subjects received freedom, the dead ones were given a proper burial, and the guilty received the punishment they deserved.
"Esteemed Deity, the Amland City is in sight. What are your instructions?" One of the human experts clasped his fist.
"Just assist us and protect the innocent. The next one will bring out a dangerous weapon of mass destruction." Xentia replied calmly.
Her master had already told her the Angelic Light Faction would be dangerous because the Archangel was already there. She was ready to jump into battle as she had to stop that experimentation and liberate the poor souls.
Unfortunately, her answer caused the tension in the people around her to increase even more.
These people were human experts and influential powerhouses who helped Xentia uphold the righteousness in the Beatific Light Faction. They were there because they also wished to participate in the follow-up sacred mission.
Even though they intended to curry Sacred Sakura’s favor, they were still righteous cultivators who would uphold justice in their land.
They just learned the followers of the Holy Church deviated from God’s teachings about love and virtue. They would punish the evil and enlighten the confused ones to righteousness. But the Sacred Sakura’s Deity Envoy said the next one would be dangerous!?
"Hmph!" Xentia exerted her 10th Rank profound aura to warn all the city’s residents below.
Everyone with spiritual roots above 1st Rank received tremendous pressure that made their hearts stop beating.
Luckily, it only lasted for two seconds. The citizen immediately rushed out of their residences and looked up at the night sky to find out what was happening.
"The Angelic Light Faction of the Holy Church, come out to meet me now!" Xentia shouted using a loudspeaker magic item.
