Chapter 289: Heaven’s Chosen Ones from Another World
Chapter 289: Heaven’s Chosen Ones from Another World
Several Sacred Sakura disciples and Supreme Goddess’ followers looked for the source of the strange weather changes with several investigation teams led by internal elders from Elysium members and external elders from various groups.
The other forces were already in motion, but the mages under the auspices of the seven Witches of Origin had to gather for a briefing.
"Listen, we are the mages who serve the Supreme Goddess. As the newly formed loyal servant group, we need a new name to make it convenient for our operations." Alicia tapped the table, attracting the attention of all the mages.
"We are now classified as mages, not witches or wizards. How is the Sacred Mage Society? It’s cool, right?" Ruri immediately proposed her idea.
"That sounds too generic, and we’re not a society. We need a more suitable name, Lady Ruri."
"Yup. There is Sacred Sakura, Guardian of Dream aka GoD, Temple of Law, Elysion Chruch, Blue Soul Fox, El-Fai Merchant, and ES Nirvana. Oh wait, there is also the Mermaid Kingdom. We need to rival them all."
"Uh, they all have a lot of members, especially the Elysion Church. Lady Xentia’s ES Nirvana is the scariest one."
"We are only around fifty people, not counting the ghost witches."
"Don’t feel down, my fellow mage. We are our Creator God’s creation."
"Huh? We’re a spirit, the soul essence. Not a ghost, alright!?"
"Okay, okay... But, the Creator God only personally created the Seven Witches of Origin, the 1st generation witches. We are the witches born from the witch trees or the chosen ones endowed with our senior’s magical power."
"The witch trees are gone."
"No, Lady Alicia managed to save one in her space magic. She has returned it to our Goddess Master."
"Is that true!? Ahem! Hey, back to the main topic. We need a good group name. Unlike the witches, we wizards hold no sacred power because our magic power originates from a fragment of our master’s power."
"Yes, we need something magically cool."
The witches and wizards began to confer and share insightful ideas. Alicia remained silent for a few minutes to listen to everyone’s opinions.
"Not good? Alright, I’ll cross this out. Hey, we’re running out of names, and why haven’t we gotten anywhere yet? Lady Alicia, what do you think? Do you have a name in mind?" The secretary sighed after crossing out the last name on the blackboard.
"I’ve listened to everyone. Some of you came up with a suitable name, but others felt it lacked something... I think it’s our own identity. I’ve thought about it... what about the Sanguine Occult?" Alicia tapped her chin, looked at everyone’s expressions, and proposed her idea.
"Uhm, are we going to become a mage cult?" One of the witches raised her hand.
"It’s occult, not cult. Sanguine is optimistic, especially in an apparently difficult situation. Occult is supernatural, mystical, and magical practices. I think that’s enough to represent us." Alicia explained the origin of the name she proposed.
"That represents us. We remain optimistic as we believe in hope. We’ve been through a lot... humanity is the monster, but we will be fine from now on." One of the 1st generation witches wiped the tears at the corners of her eyes.
All the mages soon agreed with the proposed name. Since that day, the Sanguine Occult was formed with the seven Witches of Origin as the leaders, but Alicia remained the supreme leader.
---
Far to the east of the Sacred Mountain, a particular young wizard still couldn’t return even though the Witch Queen had told all mages to come back immediately.
"Why does this stupid entrance test take so long?" Lucius gritted his teeth in annoyance.
"It could take up to a month, and we are currently in a secret realm." Medea sighed when she peeked at the ranking list on her disciple’s wooden plaque.
There were four people above her disciple’s position. The first in rank had a super ridiculous score, far above second place. So, even though her disciple could pass the entrance test, he had to settle in fifth place. They couldn’t get the elemental fruit reward.
"Well, I’ll find a way to escape from here. The other competitors have some cheats that don’t make sense. But let’s find something good in this secret realm first." Lucius sighed.
He knew the secret realm’s entrance was guarded by several elders. So, it wouldn’t be easy to escape just like that. However, he could just give up the entrance test’s objective after trying to find some good things here.
All participants could only enter Area I to Area IV. However, this vast forest secret realm possessed ten areas in total.
This secret realm was dangerous, with many vicious spiritual beasts in it. Many participants had to die here, but it was just an entrance test, the vile one!
Since this secret realm was the special dimension one of the prominent sects owned to raise many vicious beasts, this place obviously also had many treasures!
Lucius made up his mind as his current objective had changed from the elemental fruit to the other treasures. He could gather the other materials and requirements to revive his master after he returned to the Sacred Sakura. Everything would become much more efficient from there.
After all, The Sacred Sakura’s Quest Pavilion would be the answer to all of his problems.
"Beware, all top participants are being watched. You need to fall from the ranking list first to divert attention. After that, we can leave here." Medea whispered softly.
"Let’s go to the higher area. I will go to Area IV while waiting for my rank to fall from the top list."
"Why do you want to go to the most dangerous permitted area? Don’t you want to return immediately?"
"Not yet. I will take some treasures first before leaving."
"The Area IV and above is dangerous. You are still a 4th Rank mage here."
*Rumble* *Rumble*
While Lucius and Medea were briefly discussing, the approaching beasts made them suddenly alert.
Many giant rats ran over like they were running for their lives.
"Yeah, but I also have a cheat. Only, it’s not that effective for exterminating the beasts. Damn, those despicable elders forced the participants to work as free laborers." Lucius understood the other meaning behind this entrance test.
The participants would serve as the pest controls, and those elders could just ignore the casualties from the participants in the name of risk.
*Rumble!* *Rumble!*
Dozens of 3rd Rank giant rats began to approach in a stampede, and finally entered Lucius’ attack zone. He took his stance, then immediately moved like a gust of wind. He tapped each giant rat on the head with his chi magic, then landed perfectly behind the group of giant rats.
*Thud* *Thud* *Rumble*
The giant rats got their brain shaken. They fainted and fell to the ground.
"Well, they won’t die with that move." Lucius breathed a sigh of relief.
He took out his sword as he was about to kill those giant rats. Yet, he remembered that he wasn’t supposed to accumulate points by exterminating monsters anymore.
*Rustle*
Someone was approaching quickly. Lucius looked up and found a white-robed veiled girl who had just landed on the nearby branch of a tall tree, looking down at him.
"Did you kill them?" The girl asked in a cold tone.
"Your prey? Are they already dead in your eyes?" Lucius squinted his eyes.
"You killed them." The girl looked at the giant rats once again.
"No. Go for them, then. They are yours." Lucius sighed. Those monsters only fainted, and he waved his hand in farewell as he didn’t want to bother with this matter.
He flew away like a free gust of wind, leaving the girl behind.
"..." The girl widened her crystal clear eyes as she caught a glimpse of a subtle spiritual wisp entering that young man’s ring.
"Is he the person? He possesses a soul artifact and a powerful ancestral spirit. His aura and specs also match the Heaven’s chosen one. Our spiritual connection had also been lost. The Son of Heaven... doesn’t he remember? Don’t even recognize me?" The girl muttered softly. She considered several things and then immediately followed the young man secretly.
She regained her memories of her past life recently, the beginning of her arduous cultivation journey in this life.
The Qinlan Sect was the one that caught her attention because this renowned sect held a recruitment event for new disciples. Amid the cruel cultivation world, someone had to find a good place to take shelter. She would start her journey to the pinnacle from there.
To think she met her fellow Heaven’s favored one here was already arranged by fate. However, she had to ensure the other party’s identity first.
---
"She’s been following you secretly, Lucius." Medea couldn’t help but remind her disciple.
"I’ve confirmed she lost track of me. Why can she still follow me?" Lucius frowned. It had been several hours since the giant rats incident. He didn’t steal her prey, but she went after him.
"Perhaps it would be better to confront her directly and ask her what she wants. She is still at 3rd Rank, one step away from 4th Rank. You can still handle her with your magic if she has evil intentions." Medea suggested a piece of good advice.
"Alright then. I’ll try talking to that human girl." Lucies felt reluctant, but his master had already said so.
He stopped when he found a good spot to rest, and the disguised girl also stopped, hiding at a safe distance.
The naked eye couldn’t see the girl, but the magical flow was never wrong. He didn’t take long to spot the white-robed girl with his magical eyes.
*Swoosh*
Lucius rode the wind and floated on a branch near the girl’s hiding place. "What do you want, girlie? Keep following me, and I’ll consider you a threat."
"..."
No response. Lucius grumbled under his breath, then cast an earth magic to make the nearby mud pour down on the girl.
"Wha- Wait, I’m not a threat!" The girl immediately dodged swiftly. Her disguise and hiding techniques were discovered by her target of observation.
"Then, why are you following me?" Lucius frowned.
"I’m watching you."
"Why do you want to watch me? We just met."
"Yes, but this might not be our first meeting."
"What do you mean?"
"Your aura. You’re the chosen one."
"!!!"
The girl stated her conclusion from her aura observations confidently.
"How do you know that?" Lucius became incredibly alert because he assumed this suspicious veiled girl could see his secrets with her crystal-clear eyes.
The wizards and witches were considered the chosen ones in his previous world because they were endowed with the power of magic. Only Sacred Sakura’s people knew it, but this girl was only an outsider!
"So, I’m right? Don’t worry. I’m not your enemy. It’s okay if you don’t remember me, but our destiny is linked, old comrade. What if we work together?" The girl felt relieved when the young man’s aura soared and became clearer for her to inspect. She couldn’t be wrong.
"Huh?" Lucius became super confused.
