My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 575: Catch Them All

Chapter 575: Catch Them All

Although many people called it the extreme north, the continent of eternal winter in the northernmost part of the world, that place actually had no concrete name.

Besides the extreme north, the extreme south was also known as the only continent where the world laws of the three worlds merged into a unique law under an extremely cold environment. Yet, the two eternal winter regions were named differently depending on the place.

As for the extreme north, just like the extreme south, it was just a nickname used to simplify things. In some places, Quadtria’s North Pole was also known as the Eternal Night Icelands, Arctic Veil, Frozen Tundra Stars, and many more.

Unlike the extreme south, the extreme north had something hidden deep in the world’s northernmost region, the forbidden death zone, a place where no one had ever returned alive to share the tale of what was hidden there.

Yet, the two nine-tailed fox sisters ventured into the treacherous expanse of the forbidden region. They strolled above the snow hand in hand. Faint, serene smiles adorned their faces as they were unaffected by the extreme cold that could freeze almost anything instantly.

The frigid air howled around them, biting at their fur and leaving a trail of frost on their long hair. With each step, their nine fluffy tails swayed gracefully behind them, leaving faint marks on the snowy ground as they went deeper into the central part of this ancient, untouched frozen land.

As they neared the most deadly central area, many towering ice pillars came into their sight, casting long shadows over the frozen plain. There was barely any light from the sky, yet the shadows were so clear on the snowy ground, darker than the darkness itself.

Elysia and Yuuki exchanged knowing glances as they heightened their senses. They could feel the ancient power resonating from the frozen world veins beneath them.

’These shadows... they formed a seal formation. Something is sealed underneath.’ Elysia spoke via telepathy.

Yuuki nodded in reply as she had a similar premonition as well. She rubbed her arms as she shivered unconsciously at the thought of the fearsome monster sealed in this forbidden area.

Based on Xentia’s theory, every world with a civilization in it always hid at least a ’key variable’ to end half or all of the living beings living in it. Earth and Vrelenia already experienced their own share of apocalypses that ended the eras, but the one that happened on Earth recently would lead to the world’s destruction, the final apocalypse. Moreover, Gaia’s demise was already so near.

If it weren’t for her master’s interference to replace Gaia with a new world core, Earth would be done for in a few decades. Gaia also received her master’s favor and became part of the Elysium Pantheon.

Most likely, the ’key variable’ for Quadtria was sealed in this place. Although she felt a little nervous, she still wanted to uncover the mysteries with her master. If it were just her alone, she could never survive the extremely cold temperature in this death zone for long. But! Her master was by her side, and she felt absolutely safe.

’Are you cold? Come closer to me.’ Elysia put her arm around Yuuki’s slender waist and cast a stronger magic barrier as she knew her snow fox still couldn’t stand the extreme cold despite possessing the heavenly ice divine power.

’Ah, thank you, master.’ Yuuki felt the warmth enveloping her body. The extreme cold couldn’t penetrate the warm barrier around her now.

As Elysia and Yuuki moved forward, various mythical beasts emerged out of the towering ice pillars.

The ice serpents coiled on ice pillars, frost wolves bared their crystalline fangs, colossal ice golems towered above them, and various other monsters created by snow and ice stared at the two nine-tailed foxes as if they warned the intruders to leave. Each one was no weaker than a Demi-God. Their death glares were beyond obvious as it had been so long since someone could reach that forbidden place.

’They are all soulless creatures created by snow and ice. ES Nirvana can’t see anything in this place, but I think this place looks like a crown, a thorny ice crown.’ Elena uttered her opinion.

She began to imagine if Quadtria was the head, then this forbidden region would look like a small ice crown. Those towering ice pillars served as the thorn decorations.

Just as Yuuki was about to take out a divine weapon, Elysia held Yuuki’s hand and shook her head. She felt those ice monsters would attack them all at once if they pulled the trigger. Showing their backs to get away from them was also not an option because, in the eyes of predators, the prey’s back was always seen as the delicious target. It would be better if she tested the mechanism in this area first.

Yuuki nodded in understanding and put her hand on her master’s arm. They proceeded to walk deeper into the central area, the place where the towering ice pillars were centered.

"..." Yuuki kept her eyes fixed on the front, not daring to look anywhere because her master told her to do so. The closer they got to the central area, the more ice monsters appeared.

More than a hundred 9th and 10th Rank ice monsters had surrounded them from all sides, but those monsters only stared at them like lurking predators, waiting for the right time to attack. Yet, those ice monsters never made any move other than staring at them with death glares.

As they delved deeper into the forbidden area’s center, the landscape began to shift. The snow thinned, revealing a cavern hidden beneath the ice.

’Sister Elena... do you feel this scene is pretty similar to something?’ Elysia stopped her steps, staring at the ice cave with a complicated gaze.

’Yes, we’ve been in this kind of place before. The place where we found Primogem is also like this. Is what’s sealed down there an apocalyptic monster or something else? Let’s check it out, Ely.’ Elena also felt a similar sense of deja vu, but it made her even more curious to discover the truth, the search for mystery that might lead to their true origin.

Elysia set up an additional protective barrier, and she led Yuuki to descend into the ice cave. Inside, the temperature dropped even further, and the air was thick with indescribable ancient energy. At the base of the cavern, a swirling vortex of cosmic energy hummed ominously.

Strange glyphs covered the ice walls, and the ground trembled beneath their feet. They had uncovered something far beyond mortal comprehension... an ancient, forgotten force older than the world itself. In the center of it all lay a colossal, slumbering being, a mystery wrapped in ice and shadow without a fixed form, and was bound by countless celestial seals and runes.

This was a secret hidden for eons, a mystery that could either grant them unimaginable power or spell the end of the world itself.

’Why did you enter the extreme north’s forbidden region, the Tomb of the Frostbound Titan out of all places, my lady?’ He-Dao spoke directly to Elysia’s mind, asking with an unsettled heart.

’May I know what is sealed in this place, Lord He-Dao?’ Elysia asked politely, knowing the mentioned Tomb of the Frostbound Titan was definitely super dangerous because He-Dao had to warn her all of a sudden.

’You have found Vorgrim, the Herald of the Frozen Apocalypse. It was the world devourer from the distant outer space that could freeze everything just because of its presence... the one who once invaded my world before the worlds merged. It’s an immortal monster that can’t be killed even with heavenly laws. We can only seal it under eternal slumber, and suppress it under the mortal world’s laws.’ He-Dao explained the point.

It would be best if Elysia let that monster remain in eternal sleep, but if she had a way to resolve the slumbering calamity, then it would be better.

’Hmm, you should have said it sooner. We’re currently still collecting the apocalyptic and calamity monsters, storing them in my new world. Can we take this away? We shall be responsible for this.’

’No, I mean, it’s not a problem if you can handle it. So, are you absolutely sure? That thing can’t be killed. Even the space and dimensions might freeze just because of its presence.’

’It’s okay. We have a way. We shall take this entire ice cavern and the sealing ground, alright?’

’Wait a minute. I shall send Yuna to your aid.’

’Alright. If you have more apocalyptic and calamity monsters sealed somewhere, please let me know. I mean, please give them to me. I shall lighten your burden for the threats they bring.’

’Well... let’s talk about this again later.’

Elysia chatted a little with He-Dao as she wished to secure more calamity monsters to her monster army.

As for the one before her, it was actually an outer space world devourer! She wanted to catch it. If this monster was as dangerous as He-Dao feared, she could try to tame it in the most extreme and deadly domain. Or maybe, she could unseal it and throw it to the Corrupted Nirvana Realm during the Great War in five months.

A few seconds later, Yuna, the strongest Heavenly Agent and also the ruler of the White Realm, descended into the mortal world. She greeted Zi Xuan and Sakura who happened to be nearby with a simple hand gesture, then vanished from the sacred shrine in an instant.

"Huh?" Zi Xuan and Sakura looked at each other, feeling somewhat confused about why Lady Yuna seemed so anxious and in a hurry.

"Sakura, did something happen? Why is Lady Yuna in such a hurry?" Zi Xuan twirled a strand of her long hair, feeling somewhat worried.

"Mhm..." Sakura shrugged her shoulders as she was also clueless. However, since the Sacred Sakura Goddess had yet to convey anything, then it was probably the Divine World’s matter which was none of her business. She simply flew to the Sacred Sakura Tree, returning to her true body.
