Chapter 593: Scammed Demon King
Chapter 593: Scammed Demon King
Yusagi stood patiently in the desolate area amid a dense, shadowy forest.
Her long white hair fluttered in the gentle wind, and her large bluish-white eyes scanned her surroundings with the alertness of a predator. However, her appearance was anything but threatening.
Dressed in an elegant maid outfit befitting her position as a servant of the Goddess, she was the epitome of courteous grace beneath her demure exterior.
She was no ordinary bunny servant, the authentic Demi-God who served the Soul Fox Deity and the Supreme Goddess. She was there with a single mission, namely to mislead the hunters.
Her Goddess Master had given an order. The heretics violated the forbidden rules and the Great Demon of Hell would emerge to the mortal world very soon. Someone summoned a high-rank hell demon just a moment ago, but the villain slipped away, and the hunters had to hunt the violators.
"!?" Yusagi felt someone was approaching at incredible speed. The person was already visible to the naked eye.
It was like a mini approaching hurricane, a missile-like tornado shot from the distant sky and landed with great momentum, leaving a large crater on the ground.
The tornado subsided, and the 9th Rank hunter feared by even the most powerful experts emerged from the swirling wind.
Jack Reaper, one of the highest rank hunters in the world, scanned his surroundings with his sharp eagle-like eyes.
Sadly, the previous apocalypse-level threat had vanished into thin air, leaving only the sinister-looking demon summoning magic circle on the ground, but it was already broken. And then, a super suspicious yet pretty bunny maid stood guard at the crime scene.
"Well, what do we have here? A little bunny, all alone at the crime scene. What secrets are you hiding, I wonder?" Jack frowned as he found the bunny maid had no slave seal on her neck. She also exuded a predator-like aura despite standing before an apex hunter like himself, and it aroused his suspicion even more.
"Are you a hunter?" Yusagi’s ears twitched, but she remained composed. She asked with a calm tone.
"You ask the obvious. Tell me everything you know, or I will have no choice but to capture you as the witness." Jack crossed his arms, putting tremendous pressure on the bunny maid.
Yet, Yusagi never once flinched at the hunter’s aura pressure as she was no weaker than the hunter. He possessed a Demi-God power, and so did she. He stood before her like a fierce eagle before a harmless rabbit. Sadly, she was never the prey. An eagle could only fly in the sky, whereas she was already playing on the moon.
Yusagi showed her intention with a clear impact. She collided the aura pressure with her own, showing the difference between them despite being in the same rank.
*Rumble!*
The collision caused the ground to tremble. Jack was shocked after knowing the bunny maid was actually a Demi-God like himself.
Before the shocked hunter spoke to inquire further, Yusagi opened her mouth while gradually easing her aura. "Cease your unnecessary attempt to pressure me. I am here under my master’s orders, and I need to convey the information for the hunter reinforcements."
"Is that so?" Jack furrowed his brows. A Demi-God was already strong enough to make a name for herself, but he had yet to hear anything about this bunny maid. Yet, she mentioned she took orders as a servant. Then, her master was obviously stronger, probably a Deity.
"Ahem! Please forgive me for my previous action. I just can’t help it because the apocalyptic threat suddenly appeared here so suddenly. The hunter you’ve been waiting for is here now, so tell me what happened here." Jack looked aside and retracted his aura pressure, expressing his defense as he shouldn’t have made things worse here.
"The heretics are the ones you should seek." After saying that, Yusagi shared some details about what she should have said. It revolved around the sinister demon summoning ritual, the fleeing violator, the Great Demon King of Hell, and the heretics.
Jack listened to all the hints and clues attentively as they were the things that would lead him to his target, the one who tried to summon a taboo. What he could understand, the bunny maid’s master was currently hunting the rule violator, most likely the target was a high-ranked heretic, and this bunny maid had to stay behind to inform more powerful hunters to help her master in hunting the rule violator.
He never once doubted the bunny maid’s words since a Demi-God had no reason to deceive him in this matter.
"The heretic fled that way. Please be careful as the slave seal can’t fully suppress her weird demonic power. She is sleek and adept at escaping." Yusagi pointed in the direction where the Demon Queen of Envy had gone.
"Understood. We may find the heretics’ base if we play the right card. Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, the matter is urgent. I’ll treat you to a drink once this matter is over." Jack put his fingers to his brow, bidding his farewell with a cool gesture and a sparkling smile. He then flew into the sky like a hurricane.
Yet, he soon took a swift turn, coming back to ask what he had almost missed. "Hey, bunny lady! Please pardon me for my rudeness, but I’ve yet to ask your name."
"I can’t tell you without my master’s permission. I’m only here to convey her wish. Leave now." Yusagi answered flatly.
"It’s a shame. I’ll greet your lady master first then. See ya!" Jack sighed and then flew away. Since the bunny maid was a beauty, then the mentioned master was obviously a greater beauty!
For the next few moments, Yusagi held up a wooden board with the hints and clues she needed to convey to the newly arrived hunters. She sold several hunters’ names to support her claim, including Jack Sparrow.
After the 5th hunter batch, Yusagi hammered the wooden signboard into the ground. She had served her purpose and her Goddess Master told her it was time for them to leave.
---
On the distant, secluded island, the Demon Queen of Envy went into seclusion to hide from the unreasonable pursuit of countless high-rank hunters. Her power was partially sealed, and she had to temporarily escape everyone’s attention while trying to do something with the slave seal.
The slave seal was already a hassle, but the magic contract made everything worse. It was like an unbreakable spell that bound her so she could do nothing but finish the tasks given by the nine-tailed shadow fox priestess.
"I, the Demon Queen of Envy, feared in the Hell Realm, both above and below, but I got reduced to a mere pawn in this stupid scheme. You deceitful, wicked fox priestess! I’ve been betrayed, and now I suffer in this mortal hell because of you! I will never forget this, fox priestess..." Envy’s voice trailed off, full of anguish.
"Sigh... Curse my fate and the moment I crossed path with you!" Envy couldn’t help but sigh. She then took out a small box, the gift given by the hateful fox priestess.
Thanks to the wild slave seal on her neck, her location was broadcast worldwide. However, it might take a while for any possible hunters to arrive at her current hideout, giving her at least a moment of peace to take a breath.
She had to do something to the slave seal as soon as possible. It was like a necklace of thorny twigs that clung tightly to her skin, encircling her neck in shackles. It would be difficult to remove it in her current state.
Yet, she was filled with curiosity about what the fox priestess had given her. It could be another scam, but she had to check it out.
"A fragment of the abyssal gem?" Envy narrowed her eyes suspiciously. She mused with both intrigue and skepticism. The gem is highly coveted in Hell, but the fox priestess simply gives it away just for those easy tasks.
Her gloved hand reached out to pick up the shimmering, dark crystal from the wooden box. Her fingers closed around the gem, feeling its cold surface as a wave of dark energy pulsed through her.
At that moment, a fleeting idea crossed her mind. She could have just fled with the abyssal gem’s fragment. However, she immediately threw aside that thought, knowing the fox was a cunning minx, and this was probably another scheme devised by that fox scammer gang.
But, it was still the abyssal gem’s fragment! Even if she had to ruin the entire nine generations of Silver Heretic or scheme against the entire continent, she would do it willingly without a second thought. With this gem, she could achieve the things she could never try to do before!
Yet something was off. Her eyes flickered with suspicion as she peered more closely at the abyssal gem’s fragment. "This is not what it seems."
When the thought rose in her heart, the abyssal gem’s fragment turned into dust all of a sudden and formed a series of words.
"You’ve caught the glimpse of a fragment of the abyssal gem. Fulfill your part of the contract..." Envy clenched her hand into a fist as she read the message. She reduced the wooden box into ashes and growled like a fierce beast. "Grr! This hateful vixen!"
She felt incredibly annoyed for so many reasons, but the other party was a gang of Deity. Unless she could draw them to Hell, she could never have a chance to gain an upper hand against them in this mortal world.
If only she managed to grasp that fox priestess’ real name, she would definitely cast a hell-class curse just to appease her irritation. Unfortunately, she didn’t even know who she was facing. All she knew, was that fox priestess was called Ely, and it was most likely a fake name...
