My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 595: The Brewing Grievance

Chapter 595: The Brewing Grievance

The market host tried to squeeze more from the Elysion Church. Still, he couldn’t do it because the high priestess gave away an entire mining ground to ransom those people.

The Elysion Church might already have taken a great deal to give this up, but it could have been a trap. Some aides voiced it, and Ella brushed it off because they only had to check it out.

"We’ll be at the Elysion Church’s main headquarters. If it’s fake, feel free to visit us, but don’t mess with us." Ella turned around and joined Bhae to heal the injured.

"Deactivate their seal markers." Morfina demanded.

The purchased slaves would need to follow the Slave Market’s procedures so they wouldn’t be hunted by the hunters. The wild seal had to be put to the tamed mark.

"Fine, fine. Take them. But you better not be lying about this mine, high priestess." The market host waved a dismissive hand.

Ella looked at the gray teleportation crystal in the market host’s palm. "You will see for yourself soon enough."

Ella’s eyes turned cold a bit after the market’s staff did something to the slave seals, removing the original wild markers. She then looked at her group and walked away. "Let’s leave. Our task here is done."

The market host clutched the crystal to his chest, envisioning the abundant wealth that awaited him. Without a second thought, he activated that teleportation artifact, vanishing from the market in a flash of gray light.

However, the gray crystal remained in the room. As it fell freely to the floor, the market overseer immediately threw himself to catch it. Cold sweat poured out and his face turned pale. The market host went to check it out without the consent of the higher-ups waiting behind the scenes. All the treasures and the wealth offered by the mining ground given by the Elysion Church would be exploited and the market host planned to run away with it!

"I forgot to mention it. The mining ground is guarded by the local legend, a guardian beast. Those who seek the abundant wealth, treasures, and resources must follow its rules." Ella raised her hand, bidding her farewell.

"What? You should have said it earlier!" The market overseer complained, but the Elysion Church’s people had already left the room.

He then gulped his saliva nervously and fearfully as he felt some pressure and gazes fixated on him.

"That bastard... bring it to us now!" A deep, hoarse voice echoed in the room.

"Y-yes, right away!" The market overseer immediately returned to his feet and rushed to meet the higher-ups waiting in the upper hall.

Some of the higher-ups who backed the Slave Market came personally as they wanted to make things difficult for the Elysion Church, but what the high priestess brought to offer was something they couldn’t ignore. It was no secret that the Elysion Church had some hidden vaults, and they managed to take hold of one of them for a few tens of commodities!

Unfortunately, their messenger immediately activated the teleportation artifact, and perhaps, the bastard was already raking in a lot of wealth in the mining ground.

Once the gray teleportation crystal fell into the hands of one of the higher-ups, he inspected it more closely. "This is a top-tier teleportation artifact."

"Hey, what do you think? The high priestess could be lying with her claim. It won’t be a trap, right?" Another executive voiced his suspicion.

"As weird as it may sound, lying is not in her principles. This one is most likely an authentic mining ground. The Elysion Church can’t possibly compensate us with any proper payment but this. They had to give up their vault so we won’t make things difficult for them. She is a smart woman..." The blue-masked man opened his palm and the gray crystal flew into his hand.

"But that bastard Yao went to the mining ground without our permission. We chose him because of his noxious eloquence, but he chose to betray our trust." The senior higher-ups frowned.

"The high priestess warned us about the mine’s guardian. Let’s discuss this matter with all the higher-ups. We need to check this mining ground immediately. If this can’t satisfy us, then she will pay the price, something more expensive than her life." The blue-masked man concluded the discussion.

The higher-ups soon conducted a secret meeting, discussing how they would split the tasks and treasures.

Unbeknownst to them, whoever they sent to the said mining ground would never return to share the tale. It was as if everyone vanished without a trace. By the time they were at their wits’ end and tracked the teleportation’s destination with more exploration teams and best hunters, or even their personal presence, it would spell their doom for sure. And if they came to the Elysion Church to demand an explanation or cause trouble, that would be the day the Slave Market would receive a huge hit.

Unfortunately, it would wait for the future. Ella talked to Morfina and Yae telepathically with amusement, knowing the bad guys would suffer greatly soon. The plan should be flawless as it came from cheat variables, namely their master’s divinity and Luna’s future predictions.

"Why do I feel the bad premonition getting so strong? This is much worse than what awaits us in the Slave Market." Ella spoke her mind out, reminding her fellow sisters.

"Hmm... They let us go, but now it’s the ambush, huh..." Morfina understood the meaning. She looked at her surroundings with her elemental vision, checking the oddities.

As their entourage passed through a forest, Ella’s alertness instantly peaked to its maximum as she detected a thick killing intent emerged out of nowhere.

A formless blade shot out like an invisible wind, aiming at Ella’s neck. Ella failed to detect it, but Morfina did. Morfina hastily pulled Ella into her arms.

*Swoosh!*

The carriage was split open. Morfina, Yae, Ella, and Bhae jumped out and took a defensive stance right away.

The formless blade hit nothing but empty air, but it left a black, poisonous mark on the exact spot where Ella was previously seated.

"Protect the high priestess and holy saintess!" The holy knight captain shouted, and the holy knights immediately formed a defensive formation around the executives they had to protect at all costs.

"Cough!" Ella covered her mouth as she felt blood filled her mouth. She almost coughed up blood, and the reason was unknown, but she immediately did first aid to heal the sudden internal injury within her body.

"H-how? We avoided it." Morfina was shocked when she saw blood at the corner of Ella’s mouth.

"We should leave right now." Yae raised her fingers and immediately activated the instant teleportation to bring everyone to their master’s location.

*Poof*

Yae brought the entire entourage from there. They vanished from the vicinity as if they were never there in the first place. It was enemy territory, and they shouldn’t linger any further because the enemies had attacked with the intent to kill.

Because Ella was injured, the anxious Yae immediately made a decision as they shouldn’t take the risk of getting involved in any clash in the enemy territory. They were prepared to face any kind of threat and obstacle, but the enemies were also well-prepared with killing intent in mind.

"Where did they go?"

"Damn. Is the Elysion Church so adept in teleportation magic now?"

"This is getting really tricky. They didn’t leave any trace behind, and it’s untrackable."

Several saint and grand master assassins emerged out of thin air, inspecting the ground where their targets previously stood. It was a swift, chantless teleportation magic, and they were too late to prevent their targets from escaping.

"This is getting a bit tricky. How did that elf girl manage to spot my formless blade?"

"Your one-hit kill move is evaded, buddy. But the imbued curse managed to hit our target. Her days are numbered."

"Their retaliation will be very troublesome."

"There are still many old friends who want to say hello. They won’t live much longer."

"Keke, once they fell, we shall raid their base, leaving nothing behind. They shouldn’t be so arrogant. Even a behemoth faction will fall before countless formless assaults, let alone a mere new church."

Several Demi-Gods emerged out of the shadows, observing the sudden turn of events as if everything was still in the palm of their hands.

Because their targets managed to get away and they couldn’t track anything, then they left the scene like a vanishing ghost.

Thousands of miles from the crime scene, the urgent instant teleportation brought everyone to Elysia’s side. Ella received the advanced treatment from Elysia directly, and the curse was lifted without leaving any residue on Ella’s body.

"Since they’re so vicious, then they should be prepared to be killed. We’re no herbivore who will swallow this kind of offense." Luna crossed her arms, feeling angry.

"Mm, they will receive their tribulation and punishment soon. How do you feel, Ella?" Elysia helped Ella to sit down.

"Thank you for your immediate help, master. Also thank you for your quick action, Yae." Ella put her hand on her upper chest, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Yeah, we can’t take the risk as it is still the enemy’s territory. With this, we can’t possibly spare them. We should destroy them with no mercy." Yae nodded in reply, knowing the brewing grievance would be paid in full to the offenders soon.

"We need to minimize any activity for a week and activate the highest level of defense. Let those heretics suffer while trying to discover more about the Gray Mining Vault. As for the Silver Heretic, they will suffer by their own method when the full moon night arrives." Elysia heaved a subtle sigh and faced everyone. She said it specifically to Saintess Bhae.

"Your wish is our command." Bhae knelt down, followed by the holy knights and mages.

Some of them had no idea why they knelt down and received a command from the nine-tailed fox lady, but the lady before them might be another Supreme Goddess’ apostle like the high priestess.
