Chapter 68: Dao Discussion
Chapter 68: Dao Discussion
Ely opened her Lost Prayer and checked the quest panel. She tried to dig up some vital information.
Her encounter with Yuuki was unexpected, but she would deliberately meet her old friend this time. She didn’t want to embarrass herself because of the lack of information.
They would observe from afar to ensure Evelyn’s viewpoint and to confirm Ely’s doubt.
"..." Yuuki observed Ely from the side as she was still curious about that fancy grimoire.
The book had a classy cover but only blank paper inside. However, Ely read something and sometimes swiped through the blank paper.
"Hmm..." Yuuki wrapped her arms around Ely’s neck and leaned her body forward as she tried to look at the grimoire from Ely’s perspective.
"???" Ely could feel the soft sensation of large twin marshmallows pressing against her head. She glanced up and found Yuuki’s curious gaze, staring at her grimoire.
"What is it?" Yuuki found Ely’s innocent gaze adorable.
"Yuuki, do you have a transformation skill? We will appear with a common identity, and a nine-tailed fox can give people a different impression." Ely stared at Yuuki’s fox ears and fluffy tails.
"If it’s just my fox ears and tails... I can hide them." Yuuki laid her fox ears down and camouflaged them under her hair. She then used her spiritual power to hide her fox ears and tails.
Her fox ears and fluffy tails were still there but in a spiritual form. They couldn’t be seen or touched unless the others were stronger than her.
She hid her cultivation base and power, then activated the anti-appraisal artifact. It was like a golden bell, and she tied it around her neck like a necklace.
"How do I look now?" Yuuki spun around once. Her demi-human characteristics were hidden, and she was very human right now.
"Impressive disguise." Ely was amazed by Yuuki’s capabilities.
Her eyes abilities could see Yuuki’s ears and tails becoming invisible but actually still there.
*Rub* *Rub*
"Hng!?" Yuuki moaned spontaneously when Ely rubbed her spiritual tails without any prior notice. She immediately covered her mouth in embarrassment.
"You transformed your tails and fox ears into spiritual forms, Yuuki. But, why can I still touch them?" Ely asked in wonder, but she still rubbed Yuuki’s spiritual tails.
"Mhhn, hngg..." Yuuki moaned again but immediately retracted her tails from Ely’s hands. It was so dangerous.
Her spiritual tails were far more sensitive than the tangible ones. Not to mention, Ely’s touch could directly affect one’s spirit and soul.
It was just a simple mofu-mofu, yet Ely almost sent her to high heaven.
"Yuuki, are you okay? Do you have a fever?" Ely noticed Yuuki’s face flushed red, and that was unusual. She stretched out her hand to check Yuuki’s body temperature.
"No, I’m fine." Yuuki raised her hand as she took a step back. She wasn’t ready for this yet. She caught her breath and regained her composure.
A few moments later, Azrael came to pick up his master. He knocked on the door, but it opened by itself.
"Come in." Yuuki called out from inside.
"..." Azrael sighed. He had expected it, but he previously thought his master would share a room with him.
"Azra-kun, how about your business? We will visit the Dao Discussion and Martial Competition at the Imperial Castle. Will you come with us?" Ely waved her hand with a cheerful smile.
"With pleasure, master." Azrael agreed unconditionally.
Yuuki then finished braiding Ely’s long hair.
Ely styled Yuuki’s snow-white hair with a snake braid hairstyle, and Yuuki returned the favor by giving Ely the waterfall braid.
"We will go anonymously as ordinary tourists. I am Miss E, Yuuki is Miss Y, and you are Mister A. Please disguise yourself first, Azra-kun. We will be leaving soon." Ely handed her disciple a black outfit with a gold dragon motif and a red outline.
"O-okay." Azrael received the robe.
His master was still wearing her white winter dress.
Even though his master said they would disguise themselves as random folks, his master was always the best first-rate beauty no matter what she wore.
It was impossible for his master to be classified as a matter of course.
Azrael then rushed into the bathroom to change his clothes and disguise his face.
The three of them set off for the Imperial Castle shortly after.
---
The Martial Competition had been going on since yesterday at Imperial Castle’s arena. The renowned sects and prominent clans throughout the Empire sent their most talented young generations to show off their talents before the Emperor and everyone.
Over one hundred youngsters below twenty from various backgrounds participated in the competition, with thousands of citizens watching the event.
Dozens of experts from various major forces were also present to watch that event. However, their primary purpose was to boast their best young seedlings to other sects and clans.
"..." The noble golden blonde lady in a dark purple outfit sipped her afternoon tea peacefully with her friend.
However, two nuisances were also present at her table. They were the Crown Prince, Albert, and the one known as the most talented genius under thirty, Su Yang.
They had their ulterior motive, which was actually driven by their background.
The Lightning Empress Evie... they had to try their best to rope her in by any means. However, they didn’t dare to overdo it since the other party was a Form Synthesis Realm expert. She was actually more potent than the Great Emperor.
"Sigh..." Evie heaved a subtle sigh as she felt the Martial Competition was just child’s play.
Or rather, it was a little game board for the seniors in the VIP areas. They were the elders from their respective backgrounds who were here to establish good relations or cooperation for the ancient secret realm’s exploration.
"Lady Evie, what do you think of the talented young generation of our Empire? The one on stage is the talented genius who reached the Nascent Soul Realm at nineteen. His opponent was unlucky to meet him." Prince Albert opened the conversation again. He wished to talk more with the Lightning Empress.
"Pretty good." Evie’s emerald green eyes glanced at the stage. She answered like she didn’t care about this Empire’s talented young generation.
She was the Temple of Law’s representative alongside Sword Maiden Kirara. Yet, many parties tried to push her to safeguard the Empire’s people for the upcoming exploration.
"What do you think, Lady Kirara?" Prince Albert diverted the topic to another person. He admired Evie, but it always ended awkwardly because she wasn’t interested in almost anything.
"Uhm, my apologies, I can’t see. I can’t really say much." The Sword Maiden tilted her head slightly with a faint smile.
"..." Albert was speechless. He asked the wrong person.
Sword Maiden Kirara could not see beyond her sword zone. She blindfolded her eyes for an undisclosed reason. One didn’t want to talk much, and the other couldn’t say much.
"..." The man in a black-gold combat suit folded his arms while observing the two ladies.
The Sword Maiden was gorgeous and possessed a first-rate voluptuous body. She was the Temple of Law’s female bishop... She supposedly led people to righteousness, but her body was made for sin.
Unfortunately, no one could lay a finger on this sinful Sword Saint because she was the Supreme God’s faithful servant. No one could touch her unless they had a death wish to challenge the Temple of Law’s full force and God’s wrath.
As for the other lady, she was the one known as the fierce yet gorgeous Lightning Empress. Her title portrayed her power, but she had no territory to rule. She had relatively good relations with many parties. As an 8th Rank expert, she was pretty humble.
The Emperor and various powerhouses tried to win her over in multiple ways. However, the Temple of Law was still overbearing.
And that was why he was there. Lady Evie’s divine-like body constitution was the one that made him want to possess her, but it wouldn’t be easy. Therefore, he had already devised a plan for it.
Su Yang smirked in silence as he didn’t need to woo or please the lady and become a simp like the loser prince.
While the competition was happening, three people were already observing everything from the higher ground above the castle’s tower.
Ely watched the Martial Competition and Dao Discussion with a curious gaze. However, her attention was often directed to the four people in a particular VIP seat.
Her old friend was there, next to the Sword Maiden. They were accompanied by a man clad in a royal outfit and a young man with a wicked hidden desire.
"She’s there..." Ely muttered softly as she couldn’t associate Evelyn in her memory with the current Lightning Empress Evie.
Evelyn has grown into a graceful lady with mature charm. Evelyn’s golden blonde hair remained unchanged but turned azure at the ends.
Her first human friend was already known as a hero in the public’s eyes and was adored by countless people. The audience and participants were excited because their Empire’s two most beautiful ladies were there.
With such a good life, Evelyn probably couldn’t help her the way Yuuki did. Even so, she could still ask for a favor and build good relations like the Great Yan Empire’s case.
