Chapter 79: Spider Queen

Ely traversed the dark forest by going in one direction. It didn’t matter where she went because she needed to get out of the forbidden zone and use her teleportation crystal to regroup with her disciples.

However, she always ended up in the same spot from what she had been through. It was as if she had never gone away, but the nightmare demon’s castle could no longer be seen.

’Am I lost? This forest is enveloped in an illusory array. I walked in circles and ended up at the starting point?’ Ely observed the nearby tree and found the marked one. When she passed it a while ago, she left a marker, and it was the same tree.

Ely then tried to use her teleportation crystal, but it still couldn’t be used. Telecommunication talisman also couldn’t reach her disciples.

’This is very strange. I won’t fall for trick or illusion, but some unknown variables mess with my sense of direction.’ Ely muttered in her mind. She focused on her perception and eye abilities, then walked away.

Previously, several hidden experts followed her from the shadows, but she managed to trick them and escape from anyone’s surveillance. The demon fiance also lost track of her.

Ely managed to drive that demon fiance away. She exuded no aura, and she hid her presence well. Unless the other party could see her, they couldn’t possibly detect her.

Somewhere deep inside the dark forest, a battle of power was taking place between thousands of spider demons and the Spider Queen.

The 8th Rank Spider Queen had just hatched her superior egg to create a super strong offspring, but her child wished to eat her as nutrition.

"I have supplied enough food and nutrition for you. Why did you want to kill me?" The Spider Queen held her bleeding arm while escaping her children’s pursuit.

Her treasured child took the command and her authority. Thousands of spider demons went to attack her. She nurtured them for so many years, but they instantly betrayed her. The child that she loved the most even wanted her to become his nutrient.

"I’m sorry, mother. I will fulfil your dream. By swallowing you, I will reach the 9th Rank. I have a great chance of reaching the Deity level or above! Our Araneae Clan will have a Spider God soon. Please be obedient and unite with me, your beloved child." The Spider Prince grinned widely and continued to chase his mother with his spider army.

"..." The Spider Queen spoke nothing more as her heart felt like breaking.

It took her many years of hardship to cultivate and create a 7th Rank Spider Prince since birth. Yet, her dream became the nightmare, and her ambition became the despair caused by the hope she created.

She didn’t expect the ending to be like this. Her child should be devoted to her, and her spider army should only listen to her orders. However, she lost everything because of her desire.

It might be her fault because she also passed a fragment of her power, authority, blood, and soul to her cherished child. Because of that, the Spider Prince could stage a coup and dethrone her.

She was weakened, and her child managed to take command of the spider army as their new king.

The Spider Queen didn’t have much qi left in her body because she ran out of energy to hatch her superior egg.

A few minutes later, the spider army managed to catch her. She couldn’t resist much because she was already exhausted and injured. The spiders wrapped her body in a silken bundle, and she could only wait to be devoured by the Spider Prince.

Even so, as an 8th Rank Spider Queen, she didn’t want to be helplessly devoured by her child. Her will to live was still very strong. Thus, she created a little spider from her blood and flesh, and then transferred her soul essence.

"..." The Spider Queen felt something was wrong when the noises outside suddenly became quiet. She also could no longer sense any living spiders in her surroundings.

Although feeling a bit hesitant, she exerted the last of her strength to make a small hole to send her spider self out.

Her Spider Queen body then fell into a state of ’death’. Even though the Spider Prince would devour her body, it was just her physical flesh. He couldn’t refine her spirit and soul because she could always go through rebirth.

The moment the Little Spider Queen crept out from the silk cocoon, the cave was already enveloped in a cloud of poisonous smoke. Hundreds of dead spider demons were lying on the ground, and she soon fainted with foam coming out of her mouth.

"Phew..." Ely breathed a sigh of relief.

She accidentally encountered a bunch of spider demons. Yet, they ambushed and attacked her without prior notice.

But, they chose the wrong opponent. She fought back by spraying acute insecticides and toxic fumes. The spider demon colony then met their demise...

The poisoned air did not affect her because she was already wearing her respirator mask.

"That’s what you get for attacking me with thick killing intent, spider demons. I accidentally wiped out your entire family." Ely harrumphed. She shook the can of insecticide, then put it back into her storage pouch.

She then crouched down and picked up a random dead spider.

The spider demon was black in color and looked terrifying. It was a poisonous insect, but its abdomen and legs had precious-looking red crystal bits.

Upon closer inspection, these red crystals could be used to craft artifacts and magic items. It could also enhance a magic item if refined properly.

"I found a treasure~" Ely’s eyes sparkled with joy.

She gathered the dead spiders into a sack and put them in her storage pouch. There was also a large silk egg sac. She secured that too.

It probably contained many spider eggs. Ely felt raising spider demons for their silk and red crystal bits was a good idea.

"!?" Ely gasped when she went to another passage. There were a lot of spider demons.

She immediately picked them up like they were precious treasures.

"Grrr..." A super big spider demon made some desperate dying noises.

An unknown suppression made him lose control of his human form. He reverted back to the spider demon. He would surely die if he was longer exposed to these poisonous fumes for a few more minutes.

He tried to run away, but an arrow suddenly penetrated his head. The newly born 7th Rank Spider Prince died unimpressively like a common random mob.

Yet, he immediately extracted his soul essence and fled from the scene to the underground. A terrifying demon came to slaughter his entire clan!

"Spider King? Phew... The mini-boss class spider demon has been killed." Ely still felt unsafe. Thus, she pushed the nearby boulder to crush that super big spider demon’s head. She needed to make sure the spider demon’s king really died.

A few moments later, the toxic fumes gradually dissipated. Ely took advantage of her time to dissect the Spider King’s body and retrieve the red crystals bits. She also took the crushed blue crystal from inside its body.

After that, she crushed the small spiders and took their crystal bits as she planned to utilize these spider demons for something nice.

*Clang* *Crush* *Clang* *Crush*

Some noises made the Little Spider Queen conscious. She had just recovered from the toxic fumes. Yet, a great terror and horror awaited her after she regained consciousness.

She was currently in a pile of dead spider demons, her children. A dark knight picked up some spiders from the sack, smashed them with a hammer, and dissected them for the spider demon’s red crystal bits.

The Spider Prince was already crushed to death and no longer had a complete body.

Her entire clan was wiped out by this dark knight!?

"!!!" The Little Spider Queen yelped. She got picked by the dark knight, and she was placed on a flat rock.

At that moment, the Little Spider Queen had never felt so frightened in her entire life. She was a weak little spire demon right now, but she also got suppressed to the mortal level. She couldn’t do anything, not even speak.

She has gone through many near-death experiences, but she would meet her demise if she was killed in her current situation!

The menacing dark knight then raised that deadly hammer high, about to smash her to pieces like other spider demons’ tragic fate.

*Splurt*

The Little Spider Queen spat out some silk threads from her rear end due to fear.

"Oh, you are not dead?" Ely was amazed when she found this spider demon was still alive even though it had been exposed to the toxic fumes that exterminate all types of insects.

Not even the Spider King could survive it, but this spider revived after death. It was also bigger than other spider minions and burgundy in color rather than black. So, this one was definitely a special spider.

Nevertheless, Ely still raised her hammer and tried to smash it, but the burgundy spider demon dodged it by a hair. She tried to smash it several times, but she stopped her action after three attempts.

In the end, Ely let the spider demon go.

The spider jumped away but soon returned...

The Little Spider Queen couldn’t speak anything other than insect language. She then begged the dark knight to spare her life and release her real body with body language. She still had a chance for this!

How could she possibly leave and let her Spider Queen body that she cultivated for thousands of years in this dark knight’s hands!? If she could save herself by begging, she would do it with a heavy heart.

Her pride prevented her from doing this, but it was okay because no one knew she was the Spider Queen. Her children were dead, but she could create a new army.

’This reasonable spider asked me to bring it with me?’ Ely was confused but also curious. This palm-sized burgundy spider demon seemed to be worshipping her or begging for something.
