?Chapter 571: Chapter 572: Heart-to-Heart (1)_1 Chapter 571: Chapter 572: Heart-to-Heart (1)_1 When Jing Haohao heard these words, she was taken aback. Liang Chen was actually about to look for her because of a phone call she had no idea about.
An indescribable emotion slowly crawled across her tender heart, making her eyes hot and clouded with mist.
She cringed a bit from a sense of shame for having ever entertained the thought of reaching out to him for help.
Liang Chen, on the other end of the phone, waited for Jing Haohao but she didn’t respond. He gently asked again, “Haohao, are you still there?”
In the past, Liang Chen had used this tone with her, but she didn’t have any strong feelings. But now, unexplainably, tears streamed down her face.
She bit her fingers harshly to stop herself from crying out loud.
This man had indeed let her down. And yet, the moment she left, his wrongs towards her came to an absolute end. She had no right to ask for his help now.
Jing Haohao held her phone with trembling lips. She adjusted her breathing before she could speak in a low voice, “I’m fine. I was trying to call someone else but accidentally dialed your number.”
Jing Haohao bit her lip as large tears rolled down her face. She drew in a deep breath to make her voice sound casual and slowly said, “I’m sorry for bothering you. I really didn’t mean to.”
There was complete silence on the other end of the line.
After waiting a while, Jing Haohao spoke again, “I’m hanging up. Goodbye.”
Having said that, Jing Haohao paused for a few seconds, then took a deep breath, clenched her teeth, and hung up the phone.
This was the path she chose. Therefore, no matter how hard or bitter the consequences were, she had to bear them alone.
She was no longer the Jing Haohao who was once held captive by Liang Chen in his villa. She had lost all her rights to expect him to step in and help her out in times of need.
She could trouble anyone else, anyone except for him.
…
“I was trying to call someone else. I accidentally dialed the wrong number.”
Liang Chen listened to the busy tone on the phone, standing in front of his car, still stuck in the act of opening the door. His mind whirled around that sentence.
She had intended to call someone else. She had mistakenly dialed his number… Liang… Liangnian…
So, she had wanted to call Shen Liangnian, but accidentally ended up calling him.
Liang Chen stood on the streets, looking at his second phone which was ready to send out a text message to his assistant to inquire about Jing Haohao’s current address. He couldn’t help but laugh.
He had indeed misread the situation. The moment he got her call, he had felt as though he had won a jackpot, so exhilarated that he was willing to do anything for her.
As it turns out, it was all a figment of his imagination. Jing Haohao didn’t need him in the first place.
After standing stiffly for a long time, Liang Chen looked up at the deepening night around him, his eyes slightly reddened, and got into his car after opening the door.
He stared at the text message on his phone for a long time, then slowly, one by one, deleted each word of the message he was about to send to his assistant.
Oh, Jing Haohao, how wonderful it would be if I could delete you from the depths of my heart, just as easily.
