Chapter 324: The Leviathan's Grasp – Birth of a Sea Beast

Chapter 324: The Leviathan's Grasp – Birth of a Sea Beast

The moon hung high over Raven Island, casting its pale glow across the darkened shores as Seraphis stood in the quiet confines of the shipyard, her mind ablaze with designs. The waves lapped gently against the rocky coastline, yet in the far distance, her thoughts were deep beneath the ocean’s surface—where the ancient Leviathan’s Grasp would rise.

She had spent the last several weeks sketching, studying, and consulting with some of the finest artisans, mages, and engineers the island had ever seen. It was time to bring the Leviathan’s Grasp to life—a warship unlike any that had ever been conceived.

The ship would be an invincible beast of the ocean, drawing from the primal powers of the sea itself. The design was as much a reflection of the ancient Leviathans of the deep as it was a piece of art.

As she stood at the blueprints table, her hands poised over the rolled parchment, Seraphis’ mind pieced together the immense ship in intricate detail, taking into account both magical and practical elements, combining them seamlessly. The Leviathan’s Grasp would be a monumental ship of war and a symbol of absolute power.

1. The Conceptualization

It began with Abyssal Blackstone—a rare material that Seraphis had come across during her research into deep-sea magics. The stone was black as midnight, and its surface seemed to absorb the very light around it. Abyssal Blackstone was tough—stronger than any steel—but its true strength lay in its connection to the ancient runic magic of the deep oceans.

Seraphis could already imagine the ship’s hull: 120 feet long, 30 feet wide, and able to house a crew of 60 to 80 elite warriors, mages, and engineers. This was not a merchant ship; this was a beast that would rule the oceans.

2. The Hull – A Serpent’s Spine

The hull was the foundation of the Leviathan’s Grasp. Seraphis knew that it had to be both incredibly durable and able to survive the crushing depths of the ocean. Drawing upon her ancient sea magics, she infused the stone with Runes of the Deep, a set of incantations designed to increase its resistance to physical and magical damage.

The shape was inspired by the sinister, flowing form of the sea serpent, with curved, sinuous lines that made the ship look like a predator of the waves. The prow was designed as the gaping maw of a leviathan, obsidian teeth gleaming in the moonlight.

3. The Keel – Tidal Spines for Protection

At the heart of the ship’s maneuverability, Seraphis included enchanted Tidal Spines. These spines were inspired by the long, jagged fins of the great sea monsters, and they would give the ship added maneuverability, especially in turbulent waters. As the spines extended beneath the ship, they could also provide extra protection from undersea predators.

The keel’s design would feature several long, curved spines embedded directly into the Abyssal Blackstone hull, both as weaponry and defensive features. The spines would keep the ship balanced in the most violent of seas, while also acting as an effective defense mechanism.

4. The Weapons – Abyssal Harpoons and Tidal Cannons

No ship could be called a warship without weapons, and the Leviathan’s Grasp would carry some of the most deadly and devastating armaments ever conceived.

Abyssal Harpoons would be mounted at the sides of the ship, each tipped with the precious Deepwater Crystal—a magical material capable of piercing even the toughest of hulls. The harpoons would not only pierce through enemy ships but upon impact, they would unleash a whirlpool, dragging the target beneath the waves.

Next, Seraphis turned to Tidal Cannons. The four Tidal Cannons were long-range weapons designed to fire condensed blasts of water and ice. They would freeze and shatter enemy ships, and were perfect for disrupting entire fleets at a distance. Tidal Cannons could summon massive waves, knocking ships off course or capsizing smaller vessels.

5. Vortex Lances – Manipulating the Sea’s Power

At the stern of the ship, Seraphis designed Vortex Lances—two massive rotating weapons capable of controlling the currents of the sea itself. These lances would allow the ship to create powerful whirlpools, dragging enemy ships toward the Leviathan’s Grasp or simply creating chaos by disrupting the movement of other ships in a fleet.

The rotating motion of the Vortex Lances would be powered by a combination of arcane energy and the Oceanic Heartstone Crystal—the ship’s heart and main power source. The lances could be aimed at anything from the smallest ship to the largest fleets, creating untold havoc.

6. Ocean’s Embrace Shielding – A Barrier of Water

The key to the Leviathan’s Grasp’s invulnerability was the Ocean’s Embrace Shielding. This defensive system would generate a massive barrier of pure water around the ship, absorbing incoming damage and slowly regenerating the ship’s integrity.

Seraphis decided that this shield would be strongest when the ship was submerged in deeper waters, allowing it to absorb the ocean’s natural energy. While the shield would absorb damage, it would also serve as a source of magical power, replenishing the ship’s other systems.

7. Pressure Blade Armor – Scales from the Abyss

To protect against piercing weapons, Seraphis incorporated Pressure Blade Armor—enchanted scales from deep-sea creatures, which would cover the ship’s exterior. These scales would not only deflect attacks, but their hardness would increase the deeper the ship went into the ocean, rendering conventional weapons useless.

The Pressure Blade Armor would also grow stronger as the ship submerged itself further into the ocean’s depths, adding an extra layer of protection when the Leviathan’s Grasp needed it the most.

8. Maelstrom Pulse – The Reaper’s Last Stand

As a final defense, Seraphis designed the Maelstrom Pulse. This devastating ability would allow the ship to summon an intense maelstrom in the surrounding waters, destabilizing enemy ships and throwing them into chaos. The pulse would last only a few seconds, but it would be enough to disrupt enemy formations and cause confusion among any attackers.

9. Crew and Special Units – The Heart of the Leviathan’s Grasp

The crew of the Leviathan’s Grasp would consist of the most elite warriors, mages, and engineers, each trained in both underwater combat and deck battle. The ship’s captain, a Master of the Deep, would lead the ship, a seasoned veteran capable of commanding the oceans as though they were a part of his body.

Alongside the captain would be Sea Mages—specialists in water magic who would harness the ship’s elemental core. These mages would control the flow of water, summon aquatic beasts, and even enhance the ship’s weapons. There would be around 10 to 12 Sea Mages on board, each trained to manipulate the ocean’s power to their will.

The Leviathan Marines, 30-40 soldiers equipped with Deepwater Steel tridents and harpoons, would be ready for both underwater and on-deck combat. These warriors would also carry Hydro Pods, devices that allowed them to breathe underwater for long periods, ensuring their readiness in any environment.

10. The Oceanic Heartstone Crystal – The Soul of the Ship

Finally, there was the Oceanic Heartstone Crystal, the source of the ship’s power. This ancient crystal, imbued with water magic, would channel the ship’s energy and provide the necessary power for both offensive and defensive systems.

The crystal would be carefully housed in the ship’s core, where its power would flow throughout the entire vessel, connecting every weapon, shield, and defensive system. It would serve as the nucleus of the ship, ensuring the Leviathan’s Grasp could function at its peak.

11. The Blueprint Unfolds

With the final calculations made, Seraphis unfurled the scroll. The detailed blueprint of the Leviathan’s Grasp was now complete. She could almost feel the ship’s magic flowing through her fingertips as she traced the intricate designs.

"This will be the most powerful vessel the world has ever seen," she muttered to herself, knowing that it was only a matter of time before the oceans themselves would bow to the Leviathan’s Grasp.

The Leviathan’s Grasp was more than just a warship. It was an embodiment of the sea’s untamed power—a mighty beast forged from the ocean’s deepest secrets.
