Chapter 333: The Hunt for the Crimson Phantom
Chapter 333: The Hunt for the Crimson Phantom
Choosing the Next Target
With Drenkar defeated, the White Reefen returned to Raven Island for resupply. But Seraphis was not done yet. She turned to Lysara, a determined look in her eyes. "Who’s next?"
Lysara smirked, leaning against the railing. “There’s one pirate you’ll love to take down. Captain Valeria the Crimson Phantom. She’s a ghost on the seas, appearing out of nowhere and striking before vanishing again. Her ship, the Scarlet Dagger, is enchanted to move faster than the wind.”
Seraphis’s eyes narrowed with interest. “Sounds like a challenge. Let’s hunt her down.”
Setting Out for the Hunt
With their supplies restocked and weapons loaded, the White Reefen set sail once more. The ship cut through the waves effortlessly, its newly enchanted hull making it faster than ever. The crew moved with purpose, eager for another battle.
Seraphis stood at the helm, her eyes locked on the horizon. "This time, we test the full might of the White Reefen."
Lysara grinned. “Let’s see if the Crimson Phantom can outrun us.”
Tracking the Scarlet Dagger
Finding Captain Valeria was no easy task. She never stayed in one place for long, and her ship was infamous for evading pursuit.
Seraphis used her magic, summoning a tracking spell over the map. The ink shifted, revealing faint traces of movement in the eastern waters.
“There,” she pointed. “She was last seen near the Siren’s Veil.”
Lysara’s expression darkened. “That’s dangerous territory. The mist there disorients even the best sailors.”
Seraphis smirked. “Good thing we’re better than the best.”
Entering the Siren’s Veil
The waters became eerily calm as they neared the mist-covered region. The crew whispered nervously, knowing the stories of ships lost within the veil.
Seraphis raised her hand, casting a protection spell over the ship. A faint golden aura surrounded the White Reefen, keeping the mist from clouding their minds.
“Keep your eyes sharp,” she warned. “She’s here somewhere.”
The Ambush Begins
A shadow moved within the mist. Before Seraphis could react, cannon fire erupted from the fog.
The White Reefen shook as explosive rounds struck the deck. Lysara cursed, drawing her sword. “They were waiting for us!”
Seraphis grinned, unfazed. “Good. Saves us the trouble of finding them.”
Counterattack
The Scarlet Dagger emerged from the mist, its blood-red sails billowing. Valeria stood at the helm, her crimson coat flowing like fire.
“Fire!” Seraphis commanded.
The White Reefen’s enchanted cannons roared to life, launching glowing projectiles. The Scarlet Dagger swerved, dodging with unnatural speed.
The Chase on the Open Seas
Valeria’s ship turned sharply, cutting through the waves like a ghost. The White Reefen followed, matching its speed.
Seraphis gripped the wheel. “She’s fast, but let’s see if she can outmaneuver us.”
With a flick of her wrist, she activated the ship’s wind propulsion enchantment. The White Reefen surged forward, closing the gap.
Broadside Exchange
Both ships lined up for a broadside assault. Cannons fired in unison, shaking the sea with thunderous blasts.
Seraphis ducked as debris flew across the deck. “Their aim is good.”
Lysara smirked. “Ours is better.”
The next volley from the White Reefen struck true, tearing through the Scarlet Dagger’s hull.
Boarding Maneuver
Valeria wasn’t going down without a fight. She turned sharply, trying to escape into the mist.
Seraphis wouldn’t let her. “Grappling hooks—now!”
The crew launched enchanted grapples, latching onto the Scarlet Dagger. The ships locked together, forcing close combat.
Battle on the Deck
Seraphis leaped across the gap, landing on the enemy deck. Pirates swarmed her, but she moved like a storm, cutting through them with precise strikes.
Lysara joined her, fighting with ruthless efficiency. The deck became a battlefield, the clash of steel ringing through the air.
Confronting Valeria
At the far end of the ship, Valeria stood waiting, twin sabers in hand. Her eyes glowed with a crimson hue, her presence radiating power.
“You’re bold to challenge me,” she said. “But you’ll regret it.”
Seraphis smirked. “Let’s find out.”
The Duel Begins
Valeria struck first, her blades moving like lightning. Seraphis barely dodged, countering with a precise slash.
Their weapons clashed in a flurry of strikes, neither gaining the upper hand. Valeria was fast, but Seraphis had experience.
Magic and Steel
Valeria conjured a burst of dark magic, sending spectral daggers flying. Seraphis deflected them with a barrier, retaliating with a blast of her own.
The ship rocked as their magic collided, sending shockwaves through the air.
The Final Strike
Valeria lunged, aiming for Seraphis’s heart. Seraphis sidestepped, twisting her blade in a precise counter.
Steel met flesh. Valeria gasped, her strength fading.
Seraphis stepped back as the pirate captain fell to her knees. “It’s over.”
Claiming Victory
With Valeria defeated, the remaining pirates surrendered. The Scarlet Dagger, once feared, was now in their hands.
Lysara wiped her blade clean. “That was a good fight.”
Seraphis nodded. “And one less pirate terrorizing the seas.”
As the White Reefen sailed away, the legend of Seraphis grew once more. But she knew the seas held more enemies yet to be conquered.
