Chapter 75: The White Ravens Enter the Guild

Chapter 75: The White Ravens Enter the Guild

The morning air was crisp as Seraphis stood outside the underground fortress, her arms crossed. Elowen and Sylvaine stood before her, anticipation gleaming in their golden eyes. Today was a significant step in their journey—their official entry into the Assassin’s Guild.

With a flick of her wrist, Seraphis pulled two sleek black masks from her belt. They were made of reinforced cloth, covering the lower half of the face from the nose down.

"Before we go," she said, holding them out, "wear these. When we do missions, our identities must remain hidden."

The twins took the masks without hesitation, securing them over their faces. Despite their youthful appearances, the aura they exuded was now undeniably ominous.

Seraphis smirked. "Good. Now, let’s go introduce you to the Guild."

Into the City

The trio moved swiftly through the dense forest, their footsteps silent as they made their way toward the nearest city.

As they emerged from the treeline, the massive stone walls of the city loomed before them. Guards patrolled the gates, but they barely spared the three hooded figures a glance. Seraphis led her daughters through the crowded streets, where their presence quickly drew attention.

Whispers spread like wildfire.

"Who are they?"

"Look at their uniforms… Are they knights? Commanders?"

"No, those insignias… they're assassins."

"Assassins? That woman in front... I recognize her. That's the White Raven."

Seraphis ignored them. She was used to the rumors. The important part was reaching the Guild without unnecessary distractions.

The Assassin’s Guild

The Assassin’s Guild was a dark, looming structure nestled between two abandoned buildings. It was easy to overlook, just as intended. The entrance was reinforced with heavy iron doors, scratched and dented from years of abuse.

Without hesitation, Seraphis lifted her foot and kicked the doors open.

BANG!

The entire guild went silent. Assassins of all ranks turned their heads toward the entrance, weapons half-drawn at the sudden intrusion.

At the far end of the hall, a middle-aged man sat at a desk, casually drinking coffee. The moment he saw Seraphis, he sputtered, choking on his drink.

"Really?" he coughed, wiping his mouth. "Do you have to kick my damn door every time?"

Seraphis smirked. "It’s tradition, Stuart."

Guildmaster's Shock

Stuart, the Guildmaster, narrowed his eyes at her before glancing at the two girls standing behind her. Their posture was straight, their expressions unreadable beneath their masks.

"Who are they?" he asked.

Seraphis gestured toward them. "My daughters."

The words had barely left her lips before Stuart choked on his coffee again. He coughed violently, struggling to regain his composure.

"Your WHAT?!"

Seraphis crossed her arms, watching with amusement as he gawked.

"As in your actual daughters? Who's the father? And how the hell have you kept them hidden this long?!"

She rolled her eyes. "Hold your horses, old man. They're adopted."

Elowen and Sylvaine bowed their heads slightly. "A pleasure to meet you, Guildmaster," they said in unison.

Stuart exhaled slowly, rubbing his temples. "Why am I even surprised at this point?"

Entry into the Guild

Stuart leaned back in his chair, studying the twins carefully. "I assume you're here to get them registered?"

Seraphis nodded. "Same rank as me. They start at F-rank and work their way up."

Stuart sighed, reaching into his desk and pulling out two small cards. "Fine, but if they're anything like you, my job just got a lot harder."

He handed the cards to Elowen and Sylvaine. The Assassin’s Guild Emblem was etched in silver on each one.

"Welcome to the Guild."

The moment the twins took the cards, the murmurs in the hall turned into outright discussions.

"Wait, if they’re her daughters…"

"They must be monsters in combat!"

"Two new assassins, trained by the White Raven herself? The Guild rankings are about to change."

Mission Selection

Stuart leaned forward. "Now, what else do you need before you go?"

Seraphis smirked. "A mission."

Stuart raised an eyebrow. "Scouting?"

Seraphis cut him off. "No. Elimination."

The Guildmaster stared at her for a long moment before sighing. He shuffled through the documents on his desk before pulling one out.

"Fine. There have been reports of bandits setting up camp outside the city. They’ve been harassing travelers and merchants. Nothing too difficult, but enough to test them."

He tossed the paper onto the desk.

Seraphis picked it up, scanning the details. A group of six bandits. Well-armed, but undisciplined. Their location? A small clearing just a few miles from the city.

She grinned. "Perfect."

Before Departure

As Seraphis turned to leave, Stuart called after her. "Oh, and one more thing—"

She waved a hand dismissively. "No, I’m not fixing your damn door."

He groaned. "One of these days, I swear—"

But Seraphis was already gone, her daughters following close behind.

The mission had begun.
