Chapter 81: Deeper into the Abyss

Chapter 81: Deeper into the Abyss

The air grew heavier as Seraphis, Elowen, and Sylvaine stepped onto the fourth floor of the dungeon. The torches lining the walls flickered weakly, casting twisted shadows. A deep, resonant hum pulsed through the air, sending chills down their spines.

Elowen adjusted her grip on her daggers. "This place is suffocating."

Sylvaine nodded. "Something's waiting for us."

Seraphis took a slow breath. "Then let’s go introduce ourselves."

Floor 4: The Black Web

The corridor opened into a massive cavern, its ceiling shrouded in darkness. Strange threads of obsidian silk stretched across the walls, ceiling, and floor—thick and glistening with an eerie glow.

Sylvaine knelt, touching one of the threads. "These aren't ordinary webs."

Before she could finish, the webbing vibrated violently, sending a tremor through the chamber.

Then, from above, a monstrous figure descended—a spider, its body as black as night, its eight glowing red eyes locking onto them.

Elowen grimaced. "That's a big one."

The creature let out a piercing screech, and the walls began to move.

Hundreds of smaller spiders crawled from the shadows, their legs clicking against the stone.

Seraphis didn't hesitate. She sent her metal cards flying, slicing through the swarm, their bodies bursting into dark mist.

Elowen and Sylvaine darted through the battlefield, their movements precise, cutting down wave after wave of the skittering monsters.

But the Queen Spider lunged, its massive fangs dripping venom as it struck at Seraphis.

She twisted, barely dodging as its fangs slammed into the stone, shattering it.

Sylvaine hurled a vial at the spider’s legs, the glass shattering and releasing a burst of fire.

The creature shrieked, its legs curling in agony—but it wasn’t done yet.

Seraphis took her chance. With a single motion, she launched her cards straight into its glowing red eyes.

The Queen let out one final, deafening shriek before collapsing.

The cavern shook, the webs dissolving into mist.

Elowen wiped sweat from her forehead. "That was a warm-up, wasn’t it?"

Seraphis smirked. "Looks like it."

With that, they pressed on.

Floor 5: The Hall of Echoing Blades

As they stepped onto the fifth floor, the air turned razor-sharp, charged with an unseen force.

Before them stretched a corridor lined with floating swords—each blade humming with energy, their edges shimmering with deadly precision.

Elowen narrowed her eyes. "They're not just floating. They're waiting."

The moment they stepped forward, the swords came to life, slashing through the air with blinding speed.

Seraphis ducked, twisting her body to narrowly avoid a decapitating strike.

Sylvaine backflipped, throwing a dagger at one of the swords. The blade shattered on impact.

Elowen cursed. "They're immune to normal weapons!"

Seraphis clenched her jaw. "Then we outmaneuver them."

She focused her energy, her metal playing cards vibrating as they synchronized with the floating blades' rhythm.

Then, with perfect precision, she struck—redirecting the swords’ attacks against one another.

One by one, the enchanted blades shattered, their power dispersing into the air.

Elowen let out a breath. "That was too close."

Sylvaine smirked. "We’re still breathing. That’s what counts."

Seraphis looked ahead. "We’re only getting started."

They moved forward.

Floor 6: The Titan's Tomb

A cold wind howled through the sixth floor—a vast, open chamber resembling an ancient battlefield.

At its center lay a massive stone coffin, carved with glowing runes.

Sylvaine’s eyes darkened. "I don't like this."

The moment they stepped forward, the coffin split open with a deafening crack.

A colossal warrior emerged—its body wrapped in tattered armor, its eyes glowing with an eerie blue light.

Elowen’s breath caught. "A Death Titan."

The titan let out a roar that shook the ground, then charged.

Seraphis barely dodged as its massive fist crashed down, shattering stone like glass.

Sylvaine leapt onto its arm, scaling its body with inhuman agility. She plunged a dagger into the glowing runes on its chest—but the blade barely sank in.

Elowen whirled around, throwing a volley of daggers at its joints. The weapons clinked uselessly against its iron skin.

Seraphis narrowed her eyes. "Its core is in the chest, but it’s too well protected."

She took a deep breath and focused. Her metal cards hovered around her, their edges gleaming.

Then, with a burst of speed, she launched herself forward—dodging the titan’s massive strikes by inches.

She used its own momentum against it, twisting in midair and sending her cards flying straight into the cracks of its chest.

The moment they connected, the runes flared—and the titan let out a bone-rattling scream.

Its massive form crumbled, collapsing in a heap of dust and broken armor.

Sylvaine landed gracefully. "That took everything."

Elowen exhaled. "But it’s dead."

Seraphis dusted herself off. "Then let’s keep going."

With the titan slain, they descended further, the darkness below waiting for them.
