?Chapter 287: Chapter 286: Versailles Lemon Chapter 287: Chapter 286: Versailles Lemon Luo Ning stood in the corner, even activating the recording function on her phone watch.
Hearing that the two were about to finish their conversation, she quietly left her spot.
Turning around, she hid in a dark spot without any lighting far away and stood against the wall, holding her breath.
No sooner had Luo Ning hidden in the darkness than the two people whispering to each other went their separate ways.
Another person happened to pass by the very corner where Luo Ning had been standing to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Luo Ning herself didn’t feel too exposed, since she had reined in her presence as much as possible, reducing her detectability to a minimum.
Therefore, unless she revealed herself, those two, no matter how sharp their senses, would not be able to find her.
However, those who were watching the live broadcast broke out in a cold sweat— that had been too close.
Luo Ning had nearly been discovered.
The two men had been talking closely, but they hadn’t let down their guard and were both armed.
If Luo Ning were discovered, it could have been dangerous.
After the two men left, Luo Ning didn’t step out, leaving the viewers a bit puzzled.
“Could it be that Luo Ning was scared stiff?”
“Why is Luo Ning still hiding over there? Could it be that her legs have turned to jelly?”
“Why hasn’t Brother Ning come out yet?”
Just as everyone was full of questions, one of the people who had left earlier came back, looking around.
It was clear that caution was ingrained in his bones; even though he hadn’t noticed anyone nearby earlier, he still habitually doubled back to check.
After staying for about a minute, he left again.
“Damn, that guy is so crafty, actually coming back to check.”
“This guy’s vigilance is way too high; you can tell he’s no good.”
“No wonder Brother Ning stayed hidden and didn’t come out; that was a close call.”
“I told you Brother Ning couldn’t possibly have been scared stiff. Clearly, it was a smart move.”
“Brother Ning has come out; I was really sweating for her just now.”
“That feeling just now was too scary; Brother Ning’s mental fortitude is incredible.”
Luo Ning emerged from the dark corner and, instead of heading to the supply warehouse, went to find a few teammates.
Bo Xuan, seeing that Luo Ning looked a bit off, asked, “What’s wrong?”
Luo Ning replied, “I was originally going to the supply warehouse to get a sleeping bag and tent when I accidentally overheard a conversation between two soldiers.”
“I recorded it.” She then played the recording on her phone watch.
After listening to the recording, Fan Ye and the others were bewildered.
They didn’t understand at all, “What on earth are they chattering about?”
Bo Xuan furrowed his brows, “That’s a minor language from the Southern Ocean region, not many people know it.”
“Old Bo, did you understand it?” Fan Ye asked curiously.
Bo Xuan replied, “I only understood a few sentences, the gist being that they want to go somewhere at a certain time.”
He had a slight understanding of this minor language but wasn’t particularly fluent.
He could understand simple conversations, but the recorded dialogue was complex, and he could only guess bits and pieces.
He turned to look at Luo Ning and asked, “Brother Ning, you must have understood, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have made a recording and brought it for us to listen to.”
Luo Ning nodded, “Yeah, I understood.”
“They have already defected to another base and have leaked the news of us opening the arsenal.”
“At four o’clock in the morning, people from that base will send someone to try and take over this arsenal.”
She paused before adding, “They also want to convince us to join them at that base. If we refuse, they’re prepared to use force.”
The smart lock over here had been reset, so the people inside could open the door.
That’s why those two were colluding with another base.
Hearing her words, everyone’s expression changed.
“We didn’t expect traitors to emerge so quickly.”
Having gone through quite a lot and with the people here being flesh and blood with active minds, it was impossible to distinguish between what was fake and what was real. Therefore, Fan Ye and the others had completely immersed themselves in this place.
Bo Xuan spoke with a serious expression, “Besides taking over the military arsenal, their other goal is to snatch Brother Ning.”
The others weren’t foolish either; the reason why the enemy wanted to snatch Luo Ning was straightforward.
Her deciphering of Dr. Luo’s laboratory and the smart locks here had certainly been betrayed to the other base by those two.
“What do we do now?”
Yue Xiao checked the time, “It’s still two and a half hours away from four o’clock.”
“They must have prepared well if they’re planning to raid the military arsenal, which means they’ll bring a lot of people,” he added.
Luo Ning replied, “That’s not for us to worry about.”
Yue Xiao froze, “Ah, then whose problem is it? Or what should we be considering?”
Luo Ning laughed, “This kind of problem should naturally be left for Liao You to fret over. What we need to do is protect ourselves, avoid getting shot or killed, and then being eliminated from the game.”
Having said this, those who had been somewhat tense relaxed considerably.
“That’s true, we should go find Liao You and talk to him about this.”
As they exited the main gate, Yue Xiao asked Luo Ning, “I’ve got a question I’m very curious about.”
Luo Ning looked at him, “What?”
“Brother Ning, you can even understand such a small language, your language skills must be really good.”
He asked, “Just how many languages can you speak?”
Luo Ning thought for a moment and responded truthfully, “Over a hundred, I guess.”
“Pfft!” Jin Feiyang, who was drinking water, spat it out and stared wide-eyed at Luo Ning, “Say that again, how many?”
Luo Ning, nonplussed, said, “Over a hundred. Is that really such a big deal to make you react like that?”
She had learned over a hundred languages in her past life.
During that time, she was blacklisted online, fell into a cold war with Ji Xinghang, had her work stopped by Yan Qiuping, and would get cursed at by haters if she went out, so she just stayed home.
The only thing she could do was distract herself with other things to prevent depression.
So she learned many languages, including some nice-sounding minor ones.
Today’s language was quite obscure, but she had liked some of the pronunciations back then and decided to learn it.
Initially, it had all been to kill time and to stop dwelling on troubling thoughts, yet today, it turned out to be useful.
“I’m completely shocked, okay? I know over thirty languages and I even think I’m pretty impressive.”
Jin Feiyang looked at Luo Ning admiringly, “I had no idea you knew over a hundred. You’re the real deal.”
Luo Ning was torn between laughter and tears, “I just had a period when I was feeling down and didn’t want to go out, so I ended up learning quite a few languages. It’s really no big deal.”
In front of the others and the live broadcast, she didn’t show off or think it was anything amazing that she knew so many languages.
After all, that was accumulation from her past life, and in a sense, it was a form of cheating.
Of course, she had learned them on her own, so she didn’t feel guilty.
Jin Feiyang said helplessly, “Because you were feeling down, you learned all those languages while staying home, and you’re saying it’s no big deal?”
Then he added, “Versailles Ning.”
He had always felt he had a talent for languages and knew many, which was his forte.
Who would have known that as soon as Brother Ning stepped up, he would be overshadowed.
Jin Feiyang gave Luo Ning a mournful look, “Brother Ning, I’m completely transformed into a lemon spirit with envy now.”
