?Chapter 691: Chapter 691: Oil Painting and Metal Coffin Chapter 691: Chapter 691: Oil Painting and Metal Coffin The original tables and chairs in the meeting room had long been cleared out, now replaced by rows of folding chairs with red cushions. In front of the wall where the balcony was located stood a mahogany platform, on which a table was set. This was for the auctioneer to use shortly.

The auction items were all arranged around the room, among which the Roder Card that Shard had taken an interest in was placed near the entrance. It was evident that it was not the star of the show.

“Let me take a look.”

He stopped in front of the glass display case, gazed at the playing card resting on the red velvet cushion, and then smiled:

“A Queen’s Suit Special Card, how intriguing.”

[History of New World Exploration: Winds of Exploration], the suit of Queen. (Note)

Upon drawing this card, randomly select another card to draw from the remaining deck. If it is a Sunflower Suit, then [History of New World Exploration: Winds of Exploration] is considered the King. The effect of the drawn card is nullified and discarded. It is not returned to the deck and is regarded as a normally drawn card.

“The Queen’s Suit is only inferior to the King and 21 points. The significance of the Queen turning into a King is not substantial.”

Unlike other Special Rules Roder Cards, there was an additional line of text written in both Draleon and Carsonrick languages beneath the rule:

[In commemoration of the great geographical discoveries of the New World, a turning point of civilization, may the winds of exploration blow across the world.]

The “History of New World Exploration” series of cards were issued about half a century ago and were reprinted every five years, but each reprint featured a different Special Card, hence they were also known as “History of New World Exploration I”, “History of New World Exploration II”, and so forth. The series was created to commemorate the discovery of the New World. The initial fifteen Special Cards were not sold but gifted to the fleet that discovered the New World many years ago.

And the Queen’s Suit that Shard was looking at now would definitely fetch a price well above 80 pounds due to its commemorative significance. Since it is a charity auction, most starting prices are inflated; the current base price is marked at 85 pounds and 12 shillings. However, it was quite evident that even if the final price exceeded three digits, it would still be possible.

“That’s really nice.”

Shard squinted slightly as he looked at the silhouette of ships coming and going in Dagon Harbor on the face of the card. He had always been economical, never having spent over 100 pounds at once on anything not related to Circle Sorcery. But this card looked very tempting…

[So, are you going to buy it? Indulge for once?]

A whisper arose beside his ear, her tone very gentle.
