?Chapter 185: Chapter 180: Stubborn Old Woman Making Things Up Chapter 185: Chapter 180: Stubborn Old Woman Making Things Up The sky was pitch black, with a bright moon hanging above.

Wan Lan spoke again, “Nevertheless, I am still grateful to you, as you saved our Sect Leader.”

“I don’t have that much power. It was a group effort that saved Wei Sisan,” Ye Chen replied.

“The Sect Leader places great value in you.”

“Perhaps he’s more interested in the martial arts skills I possess and how I could help him.”

“Possibly, but his actions reflect an enormous level of trust in you.”

“It would be better not to trust me. I don’t even believe that I’m a good person.”

“At least you are aware that you’re not a good person,” remarked Wan Lan.

“I won’t stay up chatting. I have to leave here tomorrow, so I need a good night’s sleep.”

“Leave? How on earth are you leaving?”

Ye Chen laughed, “Do you hate to see me go?”

“Hehe, I couldn’t care less about your departure. Whether or not you leave is none of my business!” Wan Lan retorted with a cold laugh.

In the morning, the mist was intensely thick, but people had already started gathering.

Ye Chen went to see Can Mo. While speaking to Elder Can Mo, he realized he must discuss things with him. As they were collaborating to take down the No. One Thieves, Ye Chen still felt like he was dreaming, not knowing the first thing about the thieves.

Probably Wei Sisan had spoken to Can Mo. Can Mo seemed quite modest, addressing Ye Chen respectfully as ‘Leader’ as soon as they met.

Ye Chen quickly waved his hand, “Don’t call me ‘Leader’, I’m not used to it. For elders like you who are older than me, call me Ye Chen directly. That way, I don’t feel too much pressure.”

Hearing this, Can Mo chuckled.

Ye Chen continued, “Seriously, just call me Ye Chen. Additionally, I may not necessarily become your Sect Leader. I joined in to see if I truly have such capabilities and to get to know myself better. There are still many things I need your help with in the future.”

“The previous Sect Leader has clearly mentioned that I should assist you.”

“Let’s not do it that way. Let us cooperate and discuss things together,” Ye Chen said.

“Hmm, okay.”

“Although I have lived in the Wastelands for so many years, I’ve only ever stayed in Wasteland City and never ventured outside. I haven’t even been to Ghost City. I still need your expertise on many matters.”

“I’m happy to help.” Can Mo had heard the issues that occurred over the last few days, and he admired Ye Chen.

“Don’t just help, cooperate. The No. One Thieves caused significant losses to you guys. I just hope I can avenge those who died, given the opportunity,” Ye Chen said.

Can Mo initially wanted to deal with the No. One Thieves himself. However, Wei Sisan persuaded him last night.

“Alright then, let’s prepare. We’re ready to set off.”

Can Mo then went to prepare.

At this time, two people approached.

It was Wei Sisan and Yiling. Wei Sisan said, “I’m adding one more person to your team.”

Ye Chen looked over and said, “You’re not going to add your daughter, are you? Afraid I’ll flirt around, and have your daughter watch over me from now.”

Wei Sisan laughed, “Yes, I’m adding my daughter in.”

“We’re constantly in danger. I won’t be able to take care of your daughter. If she ends up with a scar on her face, I won’t marry her,” Ye Chen deliberately said.

“You better not get a scar on your face,” snorted Ling’er.

However, Wei Sisan said, “She’s your wife after all. You have to take care of her. If she gets hurt or scarred, you’ll be responsible.”

Ye Chen replied, “We haven’t married yet.”

“I don’t need his protection. I can take care of myself,” Yiling asserted, already moving to another side.

“We didn’t discuss bringing your daughter last night,” Ye Chen said.

“We didn’t say we couldn’t bring her either,” Wei Sisan continued, “You both also need to develop feelings.”

“As a father-in-law, you’re pretty thorough, huh? How are we going to develop feelings amidst fight and conflict?”

Wei Sisan laughed, “Really? I must do my best.”

“I need to clarify, that I can hardly guarantee her safety.”

“She needs training too.”

“Not necessarily at this moment.”

“Alright then, take good care of her.”

Apparently, Wei Yiling persuaded her father all morning to let her come for training, but she had a different intention.

Ye Chen walked over to the girl and said, “Hey, what are you up to? Are you keeping watch on me because you’re worried I’ll flirt around?”

“I can’t come if I want?” Yiling asked.

“I won’t be able to protect you.”

“Haha, I don’t need your protection.”

“But your father assigned me as the leader.”

“Don’t use my father as an excuse.”

“So you’re afraid I’ll end up with a country witch? Is that why you’re keeping an eye on me?”

“You’re thinking too much.” Ling’er turned and walked away.

“Just to be clear, I won’t marry you if you end up crippled or your face is scarred. You better be prepared to become a nun.”

“I think it’d be better if you get a scar on your face, so you become a hick with a scar.”

Ye Chen wasn’t sure of her intentions—she truly was fearless.

On the other side, people were calling out, ready to set off.

Wei Sisan advised them to depart earlier to avoid drawing too much attention.

At the gate, Ling’er saw her father again.

“Let’s go.”

“Alright, be careful everyone. Report any developments in a timely manner.”

They left.

Ye Chen glanced at Ling’er, rode up to her on his horse and asked, “Girl, what in the world do you mean by this?”

“What do you mean?”

“Are you worried that I’m lonely and thus deliberately coming along to keep me company?”

Ling’er scoffed coldly, “I’m afraid you’re too kind-hearted, and that you will let that group from the No. One Thieves go.”

“Are you trying to take revenge on them for what they did to you before? How about this, don’t go, I’ll capture them and let you skin them alive, alright?”

“With your brains, there’s no telling if you’ll be able to capture anyone.”

“Hehe, you think so little of me, huh.” Ye Chen spoke with a cold tone.

The convoy continued forward.

Ye Chen murmured, “Alright then, if you’re coming along, you have to follow my orders.”

“Listen to your orders, why?”

“Do I even need to say why? I’m the leader of these folks, so of course you have to listen to me.”

“That depends on whether or not you’re capable.” Ling’er replied.

“Hearing you say that, it seems like you showed up just to oppose me!”

“You’re really overthinking things.” Ling’er replied.

They increased their pace, and two days later at dusk, they arrived outside of Ghost City. It was quiet around them. Everyone looked tired. They did not enter the city immediately, but waited for news.

Someone came to deliver a message. Can Mo asked, “Have the people from the No. One Thieves already left?”

“No, they’re still in the city, unaware that we are coming.”

Ling’er said, “Then hurry up, let’s go in and kill them.”

Ye Chen glanced at Ling’er and said, “Rush in and kill them? Do you think they’re a flock of ducks? You can just slaughter them however you want?”

Ling’er snorted, unsure of what he meant and retorted, “If we don’t rush in, how are we going to capture them?”

“Why would I tell you?” Ye Chen beckoned, “Everyone, rest here in this valley. Tonight, we’ll take a few people in and scout.”

They set up camp in the valley.

Ye Chen looked around at their surroundings, a map in his hand. It was given to him by Can Mo, showing the route the No. One Thieves would take should they decide to leave Ghost City and return to their own territory, and the surrounding terrain.

Can Mo came over and asked, “Ye Chen, what is your plan?”

“What do you think is the best course of action?”

Ling’er said, “We should definitely take action.”

“Sweet Potato, always thinking about fighting.”

“You’re the Sweet Potato.”

“We don’t even know the distribution of their forces yet.” Ye Chen stated.

“Then go inside, figure it out, and we’re good. We can pose as merchants to enter.”

“Pose as merchants while carrying swords?”

“Without weapons, how are we supposed to deal with them? Strangle them to death?”

Can Mo chuckled at this.

Ye Chen continued, “We have no idea how they’re arranged inside, and we don’t know which groups inside are close with the No. One Thieves. If we truly start fighting, we don’t know who might assist them. There are so many different factions inside. We need to understand who answers to the No. One Thieves clearly.”

“So, we just sit here watching, doing nothing. By the time you understand everything, the ducks would have flown away.”

Ye Chen gave a light smile, “Even if we rush in, we can’t disregard the people inside. Once we start killing, it will be chaos with the presence of the Mutant Winged Dragon. Besides the destruction, it’s unclear who would be responsible for the innocent lives lost.”

“So, you’re planning to wait here like a hare waiting for the moon? If they don’t come out for half a year, will you stay here for half a year?” Ling’er argued with a great dissatisfaction.

Can Mo, however, said, “What Ye Chen said is not unreasonable. We really should consider it carefully. They don’t know that we are near Ghost City yet, which is beneficial for us. But if we alarmed the No. One Thieves and they found out, they would disappear immediately.”

Ling’er fell silent.

Ye Chen nodded and said, “We indeed need to go inside and find out how many of them there are, then think of a plan.”

Can Mo agreed with his idea as well.

Ling’er objected, “Make sure you don’t let them escape before you’ve completely figured everything out.”

Ye Chen stood up and said, “Alright, stop listening to this stubborn old woman’s nonsense. Disciples, stay here. We’re going in.”

Ling’er slapped him, shouting, “Who’s your old woman?”

Ye Chen retorted, “Ask anyone here, they all know you’re my old woman.”

The followers behind them laughed.

Can Mo called Li Mo over and said, “Li Mo, you will be in charge here while Ye Chen and I head to Ghost City to scout tonight.”

Ling’er declared, “I’m going in too.”

Ye Chen glanced at her, “You want to go too?”

“Yes, what, is there a problem?”

“Can I oppose it?”

“No.”

“I might go to the brothel. Don’t be upset when you see it.”

A fierce kick came at him.

“If you mess up my business, I’ll kick you straight into the brothel. You’ll be so desolate after a few days there that you’ll lose all hope in the world.”
