Li Mo looked at the circle of chaos that had already erupted.

A disciple doubted, “Can Ye Chen really bring the Tau Wu here?”

Li Mo wasn’t sure, but now the half-hour mark had already passed.

The situation was about to completely fall into chaos.

“Let’s go and help. I can’t sit here idle anymore,” a restless disciple appealed.

Just as he spoke, the woods behind them began to stir.

Li Mo turned his head back and a disciple asked, “Has Ye Chen brought the Tau Wu here?”

“Quick, hide!” Li Mo commanded.

Ye Chen was the first to emerge from the forest, with the commotion behind him growing more intense by the second.

It must be Ye Chen bringing the Tau Wu.

Li Mo quickly told his men, “Wait. Once those creatures start to charge, don’t engage with them. Try to help them burst out, don’t get singled out, or tangled with the Tau Wu.” He saw a ray of hope, as long as the Tau Wu came, they could break through.

They all nodded in agreement.

“Stop dawdling here, hurry and prepare. Now!”

Free from capture, Yang Jing was thrilled. He instantly had a new idea: slaughtering his enemies, capturing that girl, and declaring angrily, “Apart from the girl who I’ll keep as my wife, kill the rest until there’s no one left.”

They all rushed over.

“Hurry up, don’t bother with Yang Jing anymore. Consolidate, don’t let them tear us apart,” Can Mo yelled from the side, anticipating their intentions from raised tensions. If they were torn apart, confusion would ensue.

But at this point, it was too late. Chaos had erupted, beyond his control. Yang Jing was on the brink of collapse.

At this moment, Ci Ye was the most excited, he shouted, “I have a plan, to tear them into two.”

It would be too hard to kill all of them at once. But if he could split them into two groups and eliminate each one separately, it would be much easier.

That’s what Ci Ye planned.

Ye Chen, sweating profusely, rushed out of the forest. He was worried that the creatures didn’t follow him. Fortunately, the Tau Wu was cooperative. He then feared he took the wrong direction. But by following the thick smoke, running and flying towards that spot, Ye Chen spotted a crowd trapped amidst thick, black smoke.

Better not to think too much about it, just bring it over.

Two to three hundred Tau Wu followed behind Ye Chen, making good time. If Ye Chen wasn’t running and flying, he wouldn’t be able to outrun these Tau Wu.

While Ci Ye and his men were focused on what’s happening front, Ye Chen jumped out and cast a palm, breaking into the killing field. Enraged, Yang Jing ordered, “Kill this brat.”

But before he could react, a chaotic scene broke out at the back. The Tau Wu, indifferent to their struggles, started capturing their men, swallowing them whole.

Everything was in shambles, a riot broke out at the back.

Li Mo hurriedly broke into the crowd from the side, reaching the center where Tau Wu came from behind. Ci Ye’s men were at the rear, so they were the first ones to be attacked.

Ye Chen found Can Mo. They were oblivious to the situation unfolding at the back, only hearing sounds of slaughter coming from behind. While the thick black smoke hadn’t cleared, Ci Ye’s men started panicking, hardly able to respond to the attacks from behind. They can only deal with the attacking Tau Wu.

All of a sudden, the pressure on the disciples of the New City Sect subsided. Can Mo asked, “Ye Chen, what just happened behind us?”

“Regardless of what happened, Li Mo, hurry up and help. We’ll break out from the front.” At this point, Ci Ye’s men were in complete chaos. This was a golden opportunity to regroup and break through from the front.

Li Mo nodded in agreement when he heard this.

Ling’er saw some monsters with boars’ heads, leopards’ bodies, and two large tusks like a bull, fighting the Ci Ye’s men at the back. She asked, “Where did you get these allies from?”

Tong Hegan didn’t know what was happening. The thick smoke began to clear a little, but he couldn’t see clearly. He only knew a massive fight had broken out at the back.

“Don’t they only have three to four hundred men?” one of Tong Hegan’s men asked.

“It seems like they encountered some beasts,” another man suggested.

Ye Chen and Can Mo each led a group of people, launching a fierce attack on Tong Hegan’s men from both sides. At this point, they basically didn’t have to worry about what was behind them as Ci Ye’s men were wholly occupied with the Tau Wu horde. Whether they could break through depended on the forthcoming fight.

Though Ye Chen had brought only about fifty people, they were timely reinforcements at this critical moment. Tong Hegan was quickly overwhelmed, muttering, “Damn it, why isn’t Ci Ye helping us?”

“It seems they can’t spare any forces.” A disciple answered.

Swiftly, Ye Chen and his group broke open a path, escaping directly from the side, out of the encirclement laid out by Ci Ye and Tong Hegan. They could not afford to consider anything else.

Once out of the encirclement, they ran for more than four hours until nightfall.

Surviving a brush with death, Can Mo regretted letting Yang Jing escape, “I didn’t keep a close enough eye on Yang Jing, allowing the man brought by Winged Dragon to be rescued.”

Also escaping from the brink of death, Ye Chen said, “Stop dwelling on it, escaping was already a great achievement. Quickly check if they are still following us.”

“Where did you get all those things?”

“On our way, we were attacked by the Tau Wu, found their nest, right around here.”

“That’s fortunate, without these Tau Wu, we wouldn’t have been able to escape.” Can Mo replied.

Can Mo nodded.

Ye Chen then went to see Ling’er after hearing from Can Mo that she almost got hurt.

“I heard you tried to take on Yang Jing and almost got caught. Are you hurt?” Ye Chen asked with concern.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

Ye Chen glanced at her, “In just two days, you’ve turned into a soot-faced kid. It seems you’ve had quite a time. Well, at least you don’t have any scar on your face, so no need to become a nun.”

“Your plans are totally messed up. We once had Yang Jing and a large group of his men in our grasp, now not only has he escaped, we might be surrounded by them any time.” Ling’er retorted.

“I didn’t anticipate that. How could I have foreseen that after helping you guys escape from Da Gui’s gang, Tong Hegan would turn up? I really didn’t factor in that the New City Sect has so many enemies.” Ye Chen replied.

“Better think of a plan quickly. We are still being pursued.”

“Yang Jing has already escaped. They shouldn’t be too keen on eliminating us.”

“Don’t be so sure. We don’t know who else might come and surround us.”

“True. I wonder why I was so foolish as to promise your dad that I would venture into Ghost City with just over four hundred men. I was truly courting death. Your dad was quite generous, giving me this few men to kill Yang Jing, yet one after another group of enemies was lying in wait to encircle me.”

“Had we acted sooner and killed him, we could’ve avoided so much trouble.” She regrets letting Yang Jing escape.

“You think I didn’t want to do that? I told you to kill him, but you didn’t. You must blame your New City Sect’s hard and fast rule of not killing those who surrender.”

“Ha, blame us? That’s on you, your planning was terrible.”

“Yes, my planning was terrible. I thought I could use Centipede Mountain as a diversion, fooling them into thinking we’d escaped safely. I didn’t expect they’d have a backup plan.” Ye Chen took a deep breath, “You’re okay though. That’s what matters. Rest now.”

Having just done a headcount, Can Mo walked over, “Our combined forces are less than three hundred now.”

Two hundred people had died in just a few days.

Can Mo said, “No one could expect that Ci Ye had such tricks up his sleeve, getting the Four Evil Ghosts and Tong Hegan on board.”

Ye Chen asked, “Do they have any more help?”

Can Mo remained silent for a while.

“Think carefully, you should know them well.”

“They shouldn’t.”

Ye Chen said, “My gut feeling tells me we’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest. We’re like a rat crossing a street being targeted by everyone. We’re in danger all the time.”

Upon hearing this, Ling’er sneered, “You’re the rat,” and walked away.

Can Mo said, “We never thought it would turn out like this. We oversimplified the situation.”

Ye Chen continued, “I believe they won’t let it go just like that.”

“Yes, we killed You Dao and more than two hundred of their men. They might want to seek revenge.” Can Mo said, “It’s fortunate that you made it here in time. Otherwise, we couldn’t have escaped and might have been killed.”

“We can’t stay here for long.”

Yang Jing glanced ahead, “Tomorrow, we should be able to get out of Centipede Mountain.”
