Chapter 496: Finally A Success in Escape

[Desert region of the unknown planet, Damian's POV.]

The whole world blacked out for a second as Damian felt a surge of overwhelming pain. Even his hand resting on the generator couldn't hold his weight, and he collapsed onto the sand below, his entire body aching as if he were being reforged—pain radiating from every body cell.

The Highswords in the distance noticed immediately. Some of them rushed to his side, calling out in concern. But Damian had lost all his senses, leaving behind only searing pain and the eerie, creaking sound of his bones snapping and muscles tightening.

It lasted for only a minute, but it felt like an eternity. Several healing spells landed on him during that time, yet they barely made a difference. And then—just like that—the pain was gone.

"Kid!? Are you alright? What the hell is going on?" Worldscribe asked, holding his arm for support.

Runefather took his other side, helping pull him to his feet. Evolving in the middle of such a tense situation was a reckless, stupid decision, but as his senses returned, the pain vanished completely. It was done—whatever it was.

When Damian opened his eyes again and stood up on his own, he immediately noticed a change. He had grown taller—noticeably so. But it wasn't just his height. His arms and legs felt more powerful, his lean frame now carrying defined muscle. His body felt alive, brimming with energy.
