"It's not that, I just didn't expect you'd want to go there. You haven't been up there in a while." She said, gripping the hem of her dress with her free hand while he still held onto her wrist.

Jael smirked to himself, she was adorable. She didn't meet his eyes as she spoke, instead, she stared at his chin. He had been worried that the conversation about palers had affected her but she didn't seem too bothered by it.

Still, it had pissed him off that Lord Garth had chosen that moment to speak about it. If he had been so curious, he should have asked earlier.

He closed the gap between them and lifted her chin. Her bright eyes fluttered to his eyes and then back down.

His eyes strayed to her lips and then back to her eyes. He would be lying if he said the thought of taking them right now didn't cross his mind.

"Only because I've been busy." He whispered, studying her face.

Her eyes squinted a little as if she had a hard time believing his words. He couldn't blame her as he himself couldn't understand the need to want to spend more time with her.
