Chapter 111 - 111 105 The Evil Holy Slash
?Chapter 111: Chapter 105 The Evil Holy Slash Chapter 111: Chapter 105 The Evil Holy Slash Amberser had cast a High-Level Invisibility Spell before he boldly walked into the Peel Family territory.
Although the family had a long history, they had no means to break a High-Level Invisibility Spell.
Thus, passing through layers of guards unhindered, Amberser entered the mining area as if it was uninhabited land.
Towering furnaces spewed black smoke, and after the ores were selected, they were melted on-site into various metal ingots.
The Peel Family’s mines were quite a special composite vein. Aside from the iron and copper ores that were mixed together, there were many other miscellaneous metals, as if several veins were forcibly combined, which did not appear to be naturally formed.
Such veins were very troublesome to mine. Different metals had different smelting methods. They needed to be sorted first, then melted and separated at different furnace temperatures.
The more mixed the metals were, the more troublesome it was to separate them.
Picking up a lump of mixed ore, Amberser muttered to himself, “No wonder the Peel Family has to vigorously build alchemy laboratories. They can’t make money solely from this mine; they might even lose money.”
But that didn’t matter to Mercury Avatars. No matter how many metals were mixed, they could devour them all the same.
Releasing two Mercury Avatars at once, the newly split little creatures were ravenous.
Without needing any reminder from Amberser, they immediately pounced on the small mountains of ore and started eating voraciously.
Mercury Avatars had an extremely strong capacity to devour metals, like water pouring onto grains of salt, the small ore mountains visibly caved in.
Naturally, this commotion quickly caught the attention of the miners. Having never seen creatures like Mercury Avatars, and after watching all their iron picks and shovels being devoured, they decisively called for the guards.
However, the guards were of no use. Their spears were devoured the moment they touched the Mercury Avatars, leaving only the wooden handles.
The two little creatures were simply too hungry, too lazy to retaliate, just sprawling their bodies and eating wildly without any resistance.
This passive reaction gave the guards the wrong impression; they thought these two puddles of mercury would not fight back.
With metal being useless, they thought themselves clever to try to use wood to remove the mercury, to prevent it from further corroding the ore.
A dozen sticks prodded messily, aiming to scoop the Mercury Avatars into buckets.
This only angered the Mercury Avatars. A multitude of blades emerged from their pliable bodies, hacking wildly at the guards.
Immediately, five guards were decapitated on the spot, with many more losing limbs.
The battle began and then ended swiftly.
Ordinary people had no means against Mercury Avatars. Even well-trained soldiers were merely delivering themselves to their deaths.
With blood shed and lives lost, the situation quickly escalated. The person in charge of the mine immediately arrived, and he appeared to be an Alchemist.
This person did have some insights, recognizing these two blobs of metal-devouring mercury instantly.
“Living Mercury?! How is that possible?”
As everyone knew, the Living Mercury Solution was a failed product of Alchemy City, and this Alchemist was seeing it in motion for the first time.
In that instant, he was seized with a mad idea, that if he could capture these two Living Mercury creatures and study them closely, he would become the next Legendary figure.
So he immediately ordered the soldiers not to act rashly, and then pulled out a bunch of bottles and jars to start concocting on the spot.
Amberser watched for a few moments and guessed the Alchemist’s intentions.
He was creating a special effective sleeping potion, efficient on a majority of creatures.
A good idea, but he underestimated the intelligence of the Mercury Avatars.
No sooner had the Alchemist prepared the sleeping potion than a rock suddenly flew over and shattered the bottle in his hand.
A faint white mist spread, and with a thud, the Alchemist collapsed asleep, hitting his forehead without any reaction.
The rock had been thrown by one of the Mercury Avatars. After the successful sneak attack, both little creatures emitted strange sounds, which only Amberser interpreted as their laughter.
Amberser was surprised; they were much smarter than before.
A simple act of throwing a rock revealed many details.
Initially, when he tasked them to confront the Paladin, the little creature only mimicked the opponent’s movements and was utterly suppressed by Allen’s swordsmanship. It wasn’t until Amberser reminded them that Mercury Avatars do not need to maintain human form that they overcame Allen.
But this time, without any reminder from Amberser, the little creature knew that the object in the Alchemist’s hand was dangerous and chose to take the initiative to attack, with a targeted approach. It knew that glass could be shattered and that using the potion inside would deal with the Alchemist.
Amberser was satisfied with this growth in intelligence.
As the Alchemist collapsed, the soldiers hurriedly carried him away, and then nervously surrounded the two Mercury Avatars. Faced with such monsters, they didn’t know what to do for the moment.
Until someone loudly suggested, “Burning! Burn these two monsters to death!”
“Quite a rapid reaction.”
Amberser silently praised in his heart and then, in an unseen corner, released all his element Undead. The Undead Puppets, made of glass shards and sand for their bodies, were five of each kind.
“Go, my little ones, let me see your combat strength.”
These element Undead had been alive for several days, and their intelligence had clearly increased as well.
Fine sand spread out, moving forward little by little on the ground, almost invisible to the naked eye.
These sand Undead had come to understand the characteristics of their own bodies and were able to analyze their external environment, which allowed them to execute a mode of movement similar to sneaking.
On the other hand, the glass Undead were well aware they would become conspicuous under the sunlight, so they didn’t bother to move slowly at all; instead, they combined into groups and rolled towards their target.
The sound of the shattered glass orbs rolling across the ground caught the attention of a few soldiers, but before they could figure out what it was, five glass orbs had already rolled up to them.
As soon as they got close, the shards of glass scattered, wrapping around their lower legs and beginning to spin wildly.
These soldiers didn’t have the privilege of wearing full-body armor; they only had simple boots and cotton pants on their legs. The sharp glass shards quickly tore through the cotton pants and cut large gashes in their lower legs.
Screams of agony rose, seemingly causing a lot of damage, but Amberser was not quite satisfied.
These elemental Undead had yet to realize what vital points were and merely attacked the closest body parts, which were after all merely flesh wounds.
But there was no need to hurry; hunting was the best opportunity to learn, allowing these little ones to practice slowly.
Amberser was dissatisfied with the combat abilities of these elemental Undead, but the soldiers of Duke Peel didn’t feel the same way. A big clump of broken glass cutting into your lower legs like an excruciating execution looked terrifying with blood dripping everywhere.
And precisely because the wounds were not fatal, these injured soldiers screamed frantically, spreading fear among the others.
Meanwhile, the Mercury Avatars, which had been devouring ores, noticed that their underlings were fighting and temporarily stopped their feeding. They came swinging their silvery blades and slaughtered the soldiers, causing blood to flow like rivers.
Not every soldier had been brainwashed with bloody spells, and most of them hadn’t completely overcome their fear. Faced with an onslaught of inexplicable monsters one after another, they lost the courage to resist and started to flee in all directions.
This chaotic stampede kicked up sand everywhere, and only when nearly everyone had scattered did those sand Undead dumbly congeal into groups, their stealthy lurking having been for naught.
Amberser just watched from the sidelines and didn’t offer any hints to these little ones, as some things needed to be learned on their own.
After finishing off the remaining soldiers, the Mercury Avatars resumed devouring the ores.
After dividing into two, their appetite had also doubled. They devoured mountain-like piles of ore, leaving behind only mounds of tailings, but the two Mercury Avatars still didn’t seem satiated and were merely recovering from their recent split’s weakened state.
Amberser watched with a gnawing feeling. Initially planning to mass-produce Mercury Avatars, he now realized they could only be used as a small force of elite troops; otherwise, they were simply too costly to maintain.
After almost finishing all the openly laid ores, Amberser prepared to move to the underground veins to continue the propagation.
But at this moment, the sound of dense running and a great cloud of dust approached from afar.
Amberser glanced over and saw a familiar-looking army appear.
It was crazed slaves running on all fours and a Lady Knight riding a warhorse, clad in Thorn Heavy Armor.
Amberser felt puzzled—after all, he had used the power of the Golden Throne last time to blast everyone away with a Thunderous Wave, and all signs of life had vanished. What was the deal with this Lady Knight?
Had the Lady Knight from last time not died, or was there another Lady Knight in this territory?
If it’s the former, that Lady Knight must bear the blessings of Goddess Lovieta.
“A blessed one of the Goddess of Pain… a decent opponent,”
Amberser, deep in thought, had already rushed into the mining area with his Bloody Legion.
The spell-controlled Bloody Slaves, fearless in battle, began seeking targets, but they had never encountered creatures as strange as those Amberser brought. Even if they saw two globules of mercury wriggling on the rocks, they couldn’t be sure if they were enemies.
Not until, under Amberser’s command, the Mercury Avatars changed shape and rushed toward the army in two silver-white, blurry humanoid forms.
Though they had never faced such peculiar enemies, the Bloody Legion didn’t shrink back, charging at the two mercury figures just the same.
The bloody tide easily engulfed the two silver-white figures, as if the blood completely stained the silver white into red.
However, after the initial clash, the two globules restored themselves to silver-white and fought their way in and out seven times amidst the sea of blood.
These spell-controlled slaves weren’t all that powerful; they merely had no fear of death and could heal their wounds by devouring flesh and blood.
But this time, they were facing globules of mercury.
The Mercury Avatars created by Amberser also knew no fear. Ultimately, these Bloody Slaves were just mad mortals; no matter how frenzied they were, what harm could ordinary weapons and bites do to two globs of mercury?
So, after the first wave of assault, the two Mercury Avatars began their massacre.
You Bloody Slaves aren’t afraid of pain, huh? Beheaded or stabbed in the heart, not fearing pain won’t keep you alive.
Blades of all lengths materialized, turning the two Mercury Avatars into meat grinders: as many mortals that came, so many perished.
Though the Bloody Legion seemed to have a sheer advantage in numbers, after dropping twenty to thirty bodies, the commander realized something was amiss – they were simply being sacrificed in vain.
“Waste of life, all of you, move aside!”
The Lady Knight drew out a spiked whip and swung it amidst the slaves, splashing large sprays of blood.
Normally insensitive to pain, the slaves screamed under the lashing of the spiked whip; the force upon it made them wish for death as all the pain they had incurred seemed to explode at once.
After inflicting this pain, the Lady Knight was enveloped by a thick bloody light, and the whip in her hand turned so red it lost its original appearance.
The Lady Knight spurred her horse, charging through the crowd and reaching one of the Mercury Avatars, where the blood-red whip suddenly straightened into a four-meter-long blood-red longsword, slashing at the Mercury Avatar.
Painful Sanctity Slash!
With the power of Goddess Lovieta, she unleashed a stroke like a thousand blades bearing down.
