Chapter 412: Two holy rank hunters Part 2

Chapter 412: Two holy rank hunters Part 2

"How much am I getting paid?" Uriel asked with a bare face. While Cassandra's deal did seem very favorable to him, being offered a military escort was nothing but trouble since it meant he would need to conceal his abilities.

But Cassandra didn't have the chance to respond, because as soon as Uriel said that, a chuckle was heard from the cellphone on top of the desk and then a couple barged in Cassandra's office.

"This cheeky bastard! He's being presented the sweetest deal of the century and bargains." Jon Hunter laughed merrily.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Asked Uriel in utter disbelief. When he heard there were two holy rank hunters in the city, he assumed one of them was their own and the other was Mister Scofield who was sent there to save the city.

"What else? He's hitting on women and drinking all day like always." Seiren replied with a dejected look on her face. Seriren's revelation didn't come as a surprise to anyone in the office, but that didn't answer Uriel's question.

"I thought Mister Scof... I mean, the Quill was supposed to be here. When I mentioned him, the soldier on the wall acted as though she knew him."

"That's because she knew him in person. He was here not too long ago, but he got a call from the head of the Cryptid hunting agency and he dropped everything to rush over there." Cassandra replied.

"Could it be... oh, this is bad, this is really bad. Is it possible to call him back here?"

"I'm afraid no, even if we could communicate with his ship, I'm afraid I don't have the authority to command a holy rank hunter. Even if it was an emergency, the only ones who can command them are the higher ups from the government."

"Don't you see how bad this is!? Our city is filled with those things, they'll mimick his trait and the city will be lost."

"We thought that was a possibility, but our hands are tied. The only thing we can do is focus on what we can do, which is to fix your ship and try to kill the thing that's been attacking us."

"I'll do it." Uriel let out a sigh and attempted to retreat, but Jon had other plans.

"I believe that's mine." Jon said as he attempted to grab the Fedora hat Uriel was wearing, but Uriel activated his trait in a timely manner and casually dodged him.

"You'll only get it once you give David Crockett's diary back to me." Uriel grunted.

"Wow, look who's all grown up now!" Jon hunter laughed, trying to hide how taken aback he was by the fact that the same kid who was completely helpless against him in the past, was now capable of dodging him. Granted, he wasn't using his full speed, but he was able to assess that neither was Uriel. "I'd let you keep it, but you've been acting like a proper butthole and I need it back."

By that moment, Uriel was beyond annoyed. He needed to help fix the ship in order to save his friends, but now it was a race against time because Mister Scofield was in danger. He had been the one and only person who cared about him when back when he was a nobody and all the things he achieved so far, he owed to the old librarian. That's why he wasn't so keen on taking Jon's crap anymore.

Uriel's adrenaline began pumping and his emotions were completely out of control, but just as things were about to take a turn for the worst, Seiren stepped forward and appeased him.

"Mister Sage, what Mister Hunter attempted to say was that he's been experiencing a lot of troubles because of you. He's well known for his Fedora hat and for some unknown reason people think he's been acting anonymously in your city under the name 'Raider'."

"And he's got in trouble?" Nika asked and Seiren had an answer at the ready.

"Mister Hunter represents the interests of the Mapple corporation, but this Raider person is a known associate to your company. That's how we figured out it was you the one causing so many issues."

"What issues? I've been minding my own business but people keep getting in the way."

"That may be so, but people think Jon can control lightning and summon a cryptid, and it's beenhard to explain the rumors going around aren't about Mister hunter. May I ask, who in your company has the ability to summon and control that jaguar cryptid?"

"You can't." Uriel replied without forgetting for a second that her trait allowed her to tell when people lied. In the past, he figured a way to throw her off, but that was only thanks to Water warlock's possession, now his emotions were as easy to see as anyone's and he didn't want to risk saying more than he should.

"Then please tell that person that he or she is welcome in the Mapple corp. any time." As usual, Seiren acte in a serious way and kept to business, but it could be seen in her eyes how troubled she was by being so shameless.

"I think this meeting is over, come by my quarters later tonight so we can talk about my sister." Cassandra said as she nodded at the lieutenant present to usher the guests outside.

Now that Uriel had the army's full cooperation, he handed the blueprints of the parts he needed to the lieutenant and then he set off to the cafeteria to grab something to eat with Nika. But as soon as he set foot inside he noticed people glaring at him like they wanted him dead.

He couldn't, by the life of his', fathom why would soldiers who never met him before hate him, but the hatred was palpable and he sat on the corner to draw as little attention to himself as possible. It wasn't until Nika went to grab their food that he realized the reason why people hated him.
