Chapter 1204: Details of competition

[Eon's POV: ]

"Gurrrrrrr… puti!"

"Don't make those weird noises while gargling!"

Rein didn't like it when I did this. It wasn't a weird habit or anything, I just liked annoying her like this.

"You finished? Should we go and have something to eat now?" I wasn't done brushing my teeth yet but she was already done with her shower today.

She woke up earlier so without wasting time staring at me the whole morning like she usually does, she started with her long, solo bath.

She didn't stick to me all the time. There were times when she knew what she needed to do so she did that. There were also times when she followed her instincts and didn't do many things just to stick around me.

I didn't mind it, she knew what she needed to do and when she needed to get her work done. Just like today, she was punctual with her work some of the time.

"I'm cooking today. Get out quickly." With a bathrobe wrapped around her, without being playful, she ordered me to not make any moves and to get ready.

"Uriel-."

"Don't you dare do that! It's too obvious what you're thinking right now." She couldn't read all minds but mine was an exception.

She knew what I was trying here even though I had the most normal expression possible. The look I had, the expression of some doubt, even the way I was breathing might have given it away.

Or perhaps she could see it with her eyes. She just knew I wanted to pull her in the bath with me and waste her time today.

"Go get ready. I'll be done soon so if you're not out by then, I'm eating everything by myself!" She pushed me inside the bathroom after screaming those words.

It was so obvious how much she was controlling herself right now. She wanted to wait for me since she woke up earlier today. She wanted to have fun since I was being lazy as well.

But she didn't do that.

Since today was the first day for us as the student council presidents, since we needed to go and do a very important thing today, she did not want to be late.

She knew she would be the one wasting our time if she did things as she usually does, so she was in her serious mode right now.

We had done enough last night— it wasn't actually enough, but we had fun. That much was true.

And she had still woken up earlier than me. She did not want to be the one wasting time today.

"Is it really that important? It's just addressing the student body. It's nothing that big~." Today was a big day for us not just because today was our first day as student council presidents.

We were going to tell the students about the details of the first event that was going to take place in a few days.

"You say that but I know you're excited about this as well! And don't shout from the shower! Finish up quickie and get your ass out here!"

So, today was an important day.

'The announcements that are made in the academy happen through the notifications on the bulletin boards on the academy forums, or through a public announcement directly throughout the academy.'

The announcement is made from the office by utilizing the channel that's based on Sir Quesnel's network.

It doesn't happen that often. The channel is utilized only when the announcements are big and important.

The one we're making today was about the upcoming competition that will be held in the academy.

'Also, we're calling it a competition but it's in fact more like guidance duels against the teachers.'

The idea was suggested by the vice headmaster when she got bored after working a little too much in the headmaster's absence.

Duels against the teachers happen during practical lectures but it's rare to see students fighting against the teachers on a large scale.

'In the academy, it's common to hold various events regularly and because of that, events held in the academy are divided into three categories.'

This wasn't a periodic fixed event. This also wasn't an occasional event. The teachers and the headmasters could suggest event activities and those in positions of power like the other teachers could vote to have these events.

'This one was happening because of the suggestion of the vice headmaster as well.'

The event was named [Guidance Duel Challenge].

Not only the students but also the teachers were given the chance to fight against any of the students that they wanted with the aim of teaching them something.

This duel wasn't limited to the teacher's main subjects either. Those who taught weapons could use other means of teaching and the same for the magic specialized teachers as well.

To not make the competition unbalanced, all the teachers were given this chance. As long as the teachers proposed a duel and the students accepted it, it could happen under the terms suggested by the students themselves.

Points would be given based on these sets of rules and whoever, students or the teachers, has the higher points at the end of the day, would be rewarded appropriately by the vice headmaster and the academy.

'Essentially, this little event was (Students Vs. Teachers) where the students could either work together to take down teachers or make their own team lose by fighting their fellow students.'

The one who made the rules was also the vice headmaster– whoever wins in a duel could continue on to their next opponent.

If they want, they could tag out with a person of their choice. However, that person also has to be chosen by a majority of the student body.

Even though the students change, the rules are going to remain the same for that particular duel until the teacher resigns or loses.

'Also, win or loss was based on a three-point scoring.'

Whoever received three points from the judges wins the match.

And, to earn these points, 1) one had to justify their terms, 2) one needed to either win or 3) show the judges something Very interesting.

It was a fun game, truthfully. I sometimes forget the vice headmaster that we usually fight and joke around with is actually a grandmaster and one of the greatest teachers out there.

'I still think she's doing this to take her frustration out on us though.'

She was going to be a judge of the game, but there was no way she would miss out on the fun.

There must be something up her sleeves for this. But we weren't going to know about that until the competition date.

"Lucifer!" And that was the alarm.

"Yeah yeah, I'm done~!"

Coming out of the bath, droplets of water still clinging to my body, I was still half naked when I walked out into the living room.

"Oho? That looks delicious-."

"You…!"

She was on the balcony beside the bathroom door on the left. The table was served with pretty looking dishes, simple things that were presented well.

There were flowers here, the scent in the air was refreshing as well. And the soap that I used today was also scented, so when I stood before her…

"What's up, darling? Everything alright?"

She was speechless. She was flabbergasted. She was staring up at my face one time and then down at my chest and then my abs.

"Uriel?" I deliberately called out her name in a worried tone. She had worked hard to not be late today, but here I was, provoking her so openly.

"Huuu…"

First, she gulped. Then she looked back up at me, into my eyes. After that, she took a deep breath and shook her head, her eyes turning angry once again.

"You want us to be late today, don't you? Bastard!" She was shouting now, her pretty voice echoing with the morning breeze.

"Go put on some clothes! And come back here quickly! Hmph!" She would have hit me by this point but she simply turned her head away.

Her face was already red and her fingers were shaking so it was pretty obvious how much she was holding back right now.

"Won't you come and help me pick some Good clothes, hun?" These lines, I said those lines so innocently even though I wanted to protect myself from the world for a moment.

I have no idea how she did it, but even though she heard it, she didn't react much.

"Go change. I'll be back in a minute."

She simply walked past me without looking at me went straight inside the bathroom and locked it from the inside.

And since the place was soundproofed, I didn't hear anything after that point.

"Gosh…"

It seems like I went too far this time, perhaps.

But considering how she plays around when I'm being the serious one, this much was valid.

'Besides, we needed some fun in between all the work that was haunting us nowadays.'

It felt peaceful to be together and even more so when we were playing around freely like this, without any care in the world.

'But then again, however much I want to have days like these where we don't have to worry about anything, we cannot have that yet.'

For the sake of the time and world we want, there are many things that have to be taken care of.

The demons and the demonic cultists were the first on the list. And then were the divinities that we cannot affect just yet.

'As needed to solve the problems around us.'

Once we deal with the things here… we should have some way to deal with those problems of the higher realms.

For now though…

-Knock! Knock!

"Hello? Uriel? I'm ready already. Come let's eat~."

Enjoying this breakfast she made was the first order of business for this fine morning.
