?Chapter 476: 462, Unexpected Incidents (1)_1 Chapter 476: 462, Unexpected Incidents (1)_1 “Then stop thinking about it, let’s make up.” He turned his head, his thin lips brush against the corner of his mouth.
The indifference in Jian Luo’s eyes faded, revealing a hint of embarrassment. He quickly called a halt before things got intense.
“Let’s make up, okay? Are we good now?”
Getting the answer he sought, Black Jack smiled and rewarded him with a peck on the corner of his lip.
“Good boy!”
Jian Luo’s facial muscles twitched at the corner of his eyes, he grumbled, “Back off.”
“So, we’re officially together now, right?” Black Jack’s eyes flickered, wanting to seize the opportunity to secure a commitment.
“Dream on.” He pushed him away, smoothing out his wrinkled clothes.
Black Jack chuckled softly, reaching out to stroke his hair.
“So, when will you give me that commitment?”
His magnetic voice was tinged with subtle discontent and sulkiness.
Jian Luo, “…..”
Why did that sound so strange?
“It depends on your performance.”
He replied nonchalantly, then strode away.
In a corner where no one could see, a faint smile lifted the corners of his mouth.
Having just appeased Jian Luo, Black Jack dared not upset him again and obediently followed after him for the first time.
Bai Jue was sitting at the bar counter, checking his phone. At the sound of footsteps, he looked up to see the two men walking side by side, a mischievous grin flashing in his eyes.
Seems like they’ve come to an agreement.
He stood up, walked towards them, slid between the two, and spread his arms to drape them over both of their shoulders, “I’ve been worn out helping you two out. You owe me a feast.”
“Did you die of starvation in your previous life?” Now that they had made up, Jian Luo was in a mood for teasing.
Bai Jue, “How ungrateful!”
They’re using him to clean up their mess after crossing the bridge. He regretted helping them in the first place.
“Then I’ll introduce you to Miss Davis.” Jian Luo suggested.
Bai Jue couldn’t help but laugh at his cunning plan.
Now that they had reconciled, they wanted to push the mess onto him to clean up.
That was really… A huge burden.
“I’ll pass, keep Miss Davis to yourself.”
On the side, Black Jack thought about how close Jian Luo had come to being set up with Miss Davis and his handsome face instantly darkened.
“Bai Jue, it is decided then. Miss Davis is now your problem.”
After speaking, he pulled Jian Luo away with him.
“Hey hey, you two guys stop right there!” Bai Jue reacted, stamping his feet in anger.
The moment they patched up, he ended up being the one getting screwed over.
The ship of friendship capsized so easily, he was practically drowning.
…
Without the cold of winter, Saint Ronas Town was in the mild coolness of autumn.
Aided by relief supplies, the town’s residents treated Quan Jingwu and his team like saviors, fully cooperating with their exploration mission.
However, problems arose early in the morning.
A child infected with the virus suddenly appeared in the town. Thankfully, the first person to discover this was Fu Heng, who managed to prevent the accidental spread of the infection.
Inside the inn, Quan Yimo and his team gathered around a table, the atmosphere heavy.
The door was pushed open, and Fu Heng and Zhan Mingyan walked in together.
“How’s the situation?” Quan Yimo inquired.
“The child has been injected with the virus, the situation is somewhat tricky. I’ve isolated him and administered a sedative. We can only press forward in finding the antidote. I’m afraid the child won’t last long if we delay.” Fu Heng reported gravely.
“I’ve checked the others, no one else has been infected.” Zhan Mingyan added.
“The child was infected not long ago, which means those people have probably infiltrated the island.” Fu Heng analyzed.
“But we patrol the island every day. How could they have possibly managed to slip past us onto the island?” A member of Falcon Team questioned.
Everyone was perplexed by this issue.
“Qiao Yu!” Quan Jingwu called out in a cold voice.
Qiao Yu’s hands quickly flew over the keyboard, his eyes shining with excitement, “Boss, I’ve got it.”
Perseverance paid off. After days of tinkering, the signal was finally stable.
Hearing this, everyone looked towards Quan Jingwu and Qiao Yu, not understanding what was going on.
Qiao Yu turned to the others and explained, “Although the signal on the island is intermittent, I’ve secretly hidden cameras in the trees around the edge of the island. Have a look.”
As he spoke, he turned his computer screen so everyone could see.
On the computer screen, Qiao Yu paused a video. It was dawn and a few shadowy figures could be seen swimming ashore from the sea.
The man standing at the forefront was even wearing a silver mask.
“Damn, they actually infiltrated the island by diving.” Someone exclaimed in shock upon seeing how the intruders had managed to reach the island.
An airplane would have been too conspicuous, likewise for a boat. These guys were really cautious, resorting to diving onto the island under the cover of dawn was both cunning and sneaky.
“Due to the poor signals on the island, the cameras couldn’t track their every move.” Qiao Yu added.
If the signal wasn’t an issue, they wouldn’t be stuck in this predicament.
“They got away again, It’s such a shame.” A member of the Falcon Team complained bitterly.
Quan Jingwu’s gaze fell upon the screen, his already deep eyes becoming even darker and unfathomable, “No, they never left the island.”
His low, measured words startled everyone.
“Jingwu, are you suggesting they’ve been on the island the entire time?” Quan Yimo looked at him, his expression becoming serious.
He never doubted Quan Jingwu’s words. If it were true that those people were roaming about right under their noses without their knowledge, then their predicament was far more troublesome than they first thought.
“Boss, did you find out something?” Qiao Yu asked.
Quan Jingwu’s lips curved upwards, his eyes glinting coldly, “If my guess is correct, they’ve been on this island the whole time. Every move we make is under their scrutiny. They are aware that Qiao Yu installed cameras on the island, that’s why they put on this show for us.”
Quan Yimo’s handsome face revealed understanding, “So you’re saying they intentionally made it look like they dove ashore to mislead us into thinking they’d left the island?”
They knew about Qiao Yu’s cameras and decided to outsmart them so they’d lower their guard, believing they had left Solak Island.
“If that’s the case, why was the child infected with the virus? Wouldn’t that just draw our attention?” Abel asked.
“The child is merely bait, or more precisely, a warning. These few days the townsfolk have been helping us map out the island, which seems to have provoked them.” Quan Jingwu’s cold brows furrowed slightly as he spoke.
“So, they intended to spread the virus around the town through the child?” Quan Yimo evident understanding, his face darkened.
They were trying to infect the entire town. If it weren’t for Fu Heng noticing the child’s abnormal behavior and isolating him in time, their plan might have succeeded.
