My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 104: Call It a Day

Chapter 104: Call It a Day

Because Sylvia didn’t intend to alert the possible enemies, and they had minimal information, everyone stealthily went deeper into the Drocogalla Secret Realm.

Ely’s core disciples moved in a pentagon formation. They used their might to slaughter the low and mid-class formless demons that dared to approach.

"..." Ely wanted to do something, but her disciples were too capable. They cleared any obstacles on their path, and she didn’t even get to kill any demons to get stat points.

The single full moon was big and red, unlike the twin moon of the outside world.

That day was filled with many events...

Ely originally wanted to obtain some resources from the ancient secret realm and eradicate some demons to increase her stats. However, twists and turns brought her to her current situation.

Everything happened just in a day, and Ely felt exhausted. She had walked and flown quite far into the Drocogalla Secret Realm. It should have been night in the outside world, and everyone decided to take a break.

Ely wished to call it a day.

"Hmm, mm~" Ely hummed as she cooked dinner for everyone in a large cauldron.

Evelyn, Kirara, and Yuuki helped her. However, Yuuki forbade Sylvia to cook anything for some unknown reason.

As for Ely’s disciples, they scouted and secured the surrounding area while waiting for dinner to be ready. Everyone would rest on that relatively safe mountaintop, and they didn’t want their master to be disturbed by some random demon or ghost.

"We missed lunch, right?" Remiel looked back several times while she was walking through the dark forest.

"Yes, but it’s not a problem for a 5th Rank cultivator like us. Let’s get the job done, and we can go back." Uriel placed a blue talisman onto a nearby tree.

"Mkay~ I can’t wait for dinner." Remiel looked at the blueprint. They were almost done setting up a temporary protection barrier formation.

The formation was shaped like a pentagon and covered an area within a one-kilometer radius. It would be active for half a day with five-layer barriers.

Once all the disciples finished setting up the layered barrier formation, they went to a particular place at the outermost of the formation. They didn’t immediately return to their master’s side because they wanted to hold a meeting regarding the recent events, and the initial idea was proposed by Gabriella.

"I gathered you in this meeting because we need to discuss us, our master, and recent events." Gabriella activated several soundproof talismans before opening the meeting.

"Make it fast." Azrael occasionally scanned the surroundings.

"This afternoon was the first time our master unsheathed her SSS Rank sword. It’s the God-tier sword of darkness. And the one who became her enemy was our master’s old friend. Sylvia, our master’s devil familiar and also her friend.

Sylvia is actually a good devil, but she was manipulated by some great villains. Sylvia will exact her revenge, but she is the one who will resolve it by herself. We only assist her with our master orders when necessary. Regarding the recent events... we will share our respective understanding." Gabriella put her hands together and looked at the other Apostles.

"That sword slash is truly scary. Our master’s sword is truly beyond mortal comprehension. Just as we would expect from our master."

"But, she was forced to cut down her own friend. It was really mean and evil, the manipulator that manipulated Sylvia."

"I’m sure it’s not the ordinary villain. There’s no way a 10th Rank powerful devil can be influenced unless he is stronger than her."

"Yeah, he has a deep background, for sure. That’s why our master decided to step in to help her."

"At the end of the day, Sylvia is still a devil, and we can’t trust her yet. Please beware of her for the time being. Observe her every move."

"She is a 10th Rank devilkin and seems stronger than Elder Yuuki. What will we do if she turns her back and betrays our master?"

"It’s hard to say for now. But only Elder Yuuki and our master can stop her."

"Hey, do you remember about the situation in the ancient secret realm? That self-proclaimed fiancee who mistook our master as her lover."

Jophiel voiced her opinion as she wasn’t interested in the great war or Sylvia’s revenge. She was still mesmerized by her master’s might but she was more concerned about that self-proclaimed fiancee.

"As for that matter, our master will take care of it when the time comes. Also, it is their fault for assuming as they please. Our master doesn’t even say anything, and they arbitrarily refer to our master as the Young Demon God. Those ancient demon ancestors also look like a bunch of bootlickers! Grr..." Remiel bared her teeth as she was feeling annoyed.

"Okay, stop there. I want to discuss this. Our master is starting to gather back her scattering old friends, or I call them the main group. Something terrible is about to occur, and that’s why. The recent events are solid proof of my assumption." Gabriella raised her palm to stop the topic of conversation from deviating from what she wished to discuss.

"That is what we expected when Elder Yuuki joined."

"But that means we are still not strong enough to withstand the storm and help our master by her side."

"But, what should we do when our master’s main group come? Will our master leave us someday?"

"No way. We are her precious children... I’ll follow her everywhere. If she will ascend to heaven, then I will follow."

The others started contemplating that once more. The last one to speak was Jophiel, but she caused everyone to ponder.

Gabriella then shared a secret she had just found out not long ago, which excited everyone.

They were provided with endless opportunities on their side. Their master had thought of everything, and everything was going according to their master’s plan.

Their master nurtured them to become the sharpest weapons and sturdiest shields. They would slay the evil, eliminate the Heavenly Ancient Demon’s seeds, and uphold their justice. That was why the second generation of the Guardian of Dream was formed.

They had to become stronger and prove themselves to get the qualification to join the main group in the future.

After finishing the brief discussion, Gabriella deactivated her formation. She and her juniors immediately returned to their master’s side for dinner.

"Welcome back. Is the pentagon barrier formation already active?" Ely welcomed her disciples.

"Yes, master. The area within a one-kilometer radius is secured. Within a hundred-meter radius is the effective protection zone. You can rest undisturbed." Gabriella reported.

"How strong can this barrier be?" Evelyn asked in wonder as she observed the invisible holy barrier with her magic eyes.

"It can prevent a Deity from entering. It can at least alert us and give us time to prepare when the powerful intruder enters." Rafaela raised a talisman and pointed in a direction.

Several low-class ghosts tried to enter, but the invisible wall prevented them. Thus, those ghosts could only turn around and leave.

"I’m here, and no one can harm you. With Ely around, I’m invincible. Don’t you want dinner? If not, I’ll eat your share." Sylvia took a large bowl of dinner for herself.

"..." Gabriella and the other disciples were speechless.

This devil girl acted as if she was already part of the group and forgot that she was once on the enemy’s side...

Regardless, everyone soon had dinner together after Ely invited everyone over.

Some people got into a brief trance and enlightenment state. Yet, Kirara was the one who received the most significant benefit since it was her first time tasting food cooked by Ely.

Ely only ate in moderation, and she wanted to rearrange her though. Thus, she excused herself and left the dinner table.

"What’s wrong with Ely?" Sylvia wiped her mouth, then whispered to Yuuki.

"She needs to rearrange her, though. That’s what she said..." Yuuki also felt Ely was acting a bit strange all of a sudden. She then glanced at Evelyn, and the latter immediately went after Ely.

"..." Gabriella and Rafaela looked at each other as if they were thinking the same thing.

They remembered their master had just killed a God from the upper realm, and something might have happened to their master. Eliminating a God or Immortal was always risky, especially for those with curses or evil power. Their master was still recovering, yet the big trouble kept coming one after another.

Last time, their master had a very strange fever. A suspended animation with super hot body temperature...

"Raf-chan and I will follow our master. You continue with your dinner." Gabriella nodded to everyone. She and Rafaela quickly finished their dinner, then immediately followed their master.

As if feeling something was wrong, Jophiel immediately rushed after her master.

Ely sat on the nearby boulder while staring at the big full moon. She then took out her Lost Prayer out of her subspace. It had been some time since she checked her status screen, and she was curious about her current stats.

Thinking back, she slayed many demons and monsters in the ancient secret realm. Then Celestia’s sword slash probably eliminated over ten thousand devils and demons. Not to mention, she stole the kill to slay a God from the upper realm. Even though that God just died physically...

"Hmm?" Ely was about to open her grimoire, but she noticed a human-like ghost popping from the ground. It bypassed the last layer of the protective formation array like it was nothing.
