My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 105: Obscure Ghost

Chapter 105: Obscure Ghost

"Ely, what do you have in mind?" Evelyn sat leaning against Ely’s back, staring at the moon.

"Eve? Are you done with dinner? I need to rearrange my thoughts." Ely hugged her grimoire, but she kept watching the strange human-like ghost. It was obscure, and it slowly flew closer.

The pentagon formation array has five layers, one barrier every two hundred meters. However, that ghost popped out in the innermost layer.

Even though it looked harmless with no hostility, it was still a ghost.

[Klaus Vlad Tepes (FV: 3003) | 11th Rank Early Stage]

[Favorability: 0%]

[Talent: 4 Stars | SSR]

Ely widened her eyes after she checked that ghost’s status screen. It was another super powerful powerhouse!

She asked in wonder why recently she had encountered many powerful experts above 8th Rank as if they were vegetables by the side of the road.

The ancient demons, Tiangong Sacred Land’s top combatants, the God of Poison, powerful demons of the Demon Realm, Sylvia, and then this 11th Rank ghost. Everything happened in a few hours, and the day hasn’t changed yet!

’Wait, 11th Rank? It’s the Immortal Ghost! But, it seems to be suppressed by the mortal realm laws.’ Ely screamed in her mind. She then thought about how to deal with that ghost.

Even though that ghost didn’t exude hostility, that favorability didn’t make her feel at ease.

"Master, are you all right? Do you have a fever?" Rafaela knelt down, then grasped her master’s wrist to check her master’s condition.

"I don’t have a fever, Raf-chan..." Ely was about to get up, but her disciple held her back.

"Fever?" Jophiel looked into her master’s face, then reached her hand to her master’s forehead. "Please excuse me."

"That’s one degree Celsius higher than our master’s usual body temperature. That’s a fever, right?" Jophiel measured her master’s body temperature and was sure of it.

"It’s normal for a person’s body temperature to go up or down a little. Please wait here." Ely was surprised because nobody noticed that a human-like ghost was slowly approaching. Even Yuuki and Sylvia seemed oblivious to that ghost’s presence.

Ely tapped Rafaela’s hand, then hopped down from the boulder. She held her Gohei in her right hand and an exorcism talisman in her left before confronting the approaching ghost.

The human-like white ghost stopped, and a pair of fiery red eyes opened from behind the mist.

"Huh? Can you see me? Hmm, why can’t I measure your cultivation base? You don’t emit any aura, either. Ugh, I can’t even scan or identify you. You look like a young devil." The ghost scratched his head.

He had been asleep in his resting place a few minutes ago, but a pleasant aura and scent woke him up from his deep slumber.

Upon closer inspection, the aroma came from a large cauldron over there. Somehow, he craved it.

"You entered past our barrier. Is it possible that this place is your territory?" Ely wanted to confirm something first since the other party had no hostility.

"My territory? Well, I guess, yes." The ghost rubbed his head as he was still a bit absentminded.

"Then, please allow us to take a break here for a moment."

"You are quite polite and courteous. Give me that cauldron, and you can stay here as long as you want."

"Bring the cauldron here."

Ely raised her hand to her disciples for it.

She could notice everyone was surprised to find the ghost was nearby, and it could talk like a virtuous human. But everything was fine as the ghost was reasonable.

Evelyn immediately moved to safeguard Ely.

Michael and Azrael immediately emptied the cauldron by moving all the food into several bowls and containers. Once it was empty and clean, they brought it to their master.

It was just an ordinary cauldron. They had dozens of them at home. So, nobody felt at a loss to give such a common-tier magic item to a particular courteous ghost. After all, the valuable one was not the cauldron but the food.

The ghost received the cauldron, then it sniffed around.

"It doesn’t smell the same as before. It’s because of that mortal food? I want it too..." The ghost shook his head, then pointed at the table.

"You are a ghost, but you want some tangible food?" Azrael raised his eyebrows.

"Ghost? You demi-human doesn’t know of a thing called spiritual entity, huh? Some talented experts with exceptional aptitudes above Nascent Soul Realm can preserve their spiritual bodies even after death. We call it soul essence." The ghost floated towards the dining table while scolding someone, but he was still chill in his tone.

"For a ghost, you’re not half bad." Sylvia licked her lips and rested her cheek on her hand.

"What do you know? Huh? You’re not half bad, devil girl. You’re only one step away from godhood. But! Don’t ever try to ascend, or you’ll be killed by heaven in that instant. The mortal world has been isolated from the upper realm, and nobody can ascend." The ghost reminded the devil girl as if he cared, but he was more interested in the nearby fragrant food.

He didn’t know why he wanted to eat it but had already taken the biggest bowl.

"You are a spiritual entity, and how will you consume that food?" Yuuki squinted her eyes at this ghost intruder.

This human-like ghost didn’t have a precise shape. She couldn’t measure this ghost’s true cultivation base. However, she did detect a trace aura of a 10th Rank expert and ascension tribulation.

"Spiritual beings only need to eat the essence of things." The ghost shrugged his shoulders, then opened his mouth wide. He flew through the food.

The food in the bowl was still intact and untouched. The ghost returned the food to the table. He suddenly swelled up and floated up like a balloon. "It’s not bad. Burp!"

"What the-" The ghost had no idea what was happening, but his damaged soul essence was slowly repaired from within, and his form gradually manifested into a more identifiable being.

A few minutes later, his spiritual body became a black-haired devil with bat wings. He was wearing an all-black robe and an aristocratic outfit.

He was a bit thin but with a bloated belly. His skin was white and pale, like the full moon in the sky. His blood-red vampire eyes flashed brightly, staring at the moon while hovering mid-air in a supine position.

Nevertheless, he was still a semi-transparent ghost. His legs were also missing, still a ghost tail.

"I don’t know what happened, but thanks to whoever cooked the gravy soup. It was really delicious and somehow repaired my damaged soul." The ghost expressed his gratitude in a confused tone.

The food magically healed his soul... That food was truly marvelous in terms of healing and rejuvenating aspects. Unfortunately, he couldn’t taste that fragrant food because he had no body. He could only enjoy its beneficial essence.

’Who’s he?’ Yuuki asked Ely through the telepathy talisman.

’A demon ancestor, or maybe a progenitor. He is an 11th Rank expert, and his name is Klaus Vlad Tepes. Let me handle the rest. His favorability is quite good.’ Ely’s eyes sparkled with an idea as she instantly saw this powerful ghost’s favorability increase to 51%.

After saying that, she gave a secret signal to her disciples. Somehow, Evelyn, Yuuki, and Sylvia could understand her gestures, and they acted accordingly.

"???" Kirara needed clarification. She couldn’t understand the meaning behind Ely’s secret signal. However, Evelyn soon returned to her side. They didn’t need to do anything as the ghost had no hostility.

Yuuki sat beside Sylvia, and Ely soon came between them. However, Yuuki pulled Ely more to her side than Sylvia.

"I’m glad you like our food. Mister Klaus Vlad Tepes, correct? It’s a pleasure for us to meet you at this random mountaintop. Can you share a little about your glory and majestic experience from your point of view?" Ely asked politely.

"Huh? Can you recognize me even though it’s been eons since then? Well, maybe you are the knowledgeable one." Klaus blinked his eyes in surprise, but he took it for granted.

His impression of this beautiful devil young master was good, and he was open for a pleasant chat.

It was nice to share a bit of his past glory with many promising juniors. However, two Great Ascension Realm experts were also present there.

He felt a little intimidated by the nine-tailed demon fox and the blood dragon devil. Not to mention the little magma black dragon over there. Regardless, he came in peace. So, no violence happened.
