My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 177: Bury the Ancient Ruins

Chapter 177: Bury the Ancient Ruins

"This blue winter milk tea is truly wonderful. May I know where you got it?" Feng Xue was pleasantly surprised after sipping the blue tea.

Sipping the blue tea brought a subtly earthy and mildly sweet taste, accompanied by a delicate herbal undertone. Its flavours were gentle and soothing, making it an ideal choice for relaxation.

"Hmm-mm, you won’t get it anywhere. It’s tea grown by the Elder Gumiho." Ely nodded in agreement, glad to find another someone who could appreciate tea.

Feng Xue then went over to bother the nearby nine-tailed snow fox as she wished to buy some blue tea.

"..." Ely gazed at the southern coastal region outside the window.

A vast region containing at least one big city, eight towns, and eighteen villages was destroyed almost without survivors. Everyone’s life essence had already been absorbed, and that Heavenly Demon Inheritor turned the victims into undead.

She and everyone stopped the incident, but the dead couldn’t come back to life. More than ten thousand living beings were killed by the demons within those few hours. They got released from the Heavenly Demon’s control and went to the afterlife.

’No wonder the mission is in first priority. The target powered up and spread the destruction so fast. But she managed to escape... She was obviously super-duper badly injured because her soul got burnt by the purgatory...’ Ely muttered softly while observing the people in the blood-red plains.

They used several earth elemental spells to bury the dead, the former undead, in a mass grave. And on the other side, there was a tall pile of rubble from the destroyed demonic golems.

’Never mind, I will report everything to my Goddess Master after I unseal her next month. Not even a God can be arrogant in front of my Goddess Master. Even if it’s a Heavenly Demon in her peak, she will look like a baby in front of my mother- uhm, my Goddess Master~’ Ely nodded slightly and sipped her tea while gazing at the moonlight. She was not afraid of the Heavenly Demon’s revenge.

It was still evening, and the night was still early. Many experts from various backgrounds came to the southeastern coastal region as reinforcements. The main forces had also arrived, and they would investigate the dangerous ruins left by the Heavenly Demon.

"What are you thinking about, Miko?" Meiying went by the window, standing beside Miko.

"Nothing. Our reinforcements and allies have assembled. We will move soon." Ely shook her head with a faint smile.

Evelyn and Kirara flew closer to Feng Xue’s portable hut. They had just given some tasks to the monks from the Temple of Law and the reinforcements who had just arrived.

Ely waved her hand at them, then turned around. She gave some hand gestures to her friends and disciples. It was time for them to sort things out here and then go home.

"Let’s talk about it another time. We need to go into action soon." Yuuki gently pushed the Blood Empress pushover as she felt uncomfortable when the other party got too close to her.

"Is it about the time? Then, let’s go." Fen Xue gave a signal to her maidservants.

Saintess Miko and Sacred Sakura’s people had left the room. Yet, Mingyue remained seated, staring at Miko’s back, deep in thought.

"Is there something bothering you, Mingyue? Yue-Yue? I just cleared up the misunderstanding about my reputation, and you were happy just a moment ago." Feng Xue approached her youngest sister as she knew something happened between Mingyue and Miko.

"Uh, that... no, nothing. I just feel shocked. Miko holds an authority on par with a great elder... Those 10th Rank experts listened to her command without question. Then, how strong is Miko?" Mingyue felt a bit insecure.

She was treated as the young genius back in her sect, and everyone considered her as a peerless talent in a century. She and Miko were Saintess of their respective sect, but the difference in all aspects was huge.

"Hou~ Is this the first time you feel you are not at the top of the talented young generation? There is always a sky above the sky. But Saintess Miko is so nice despite her status, right? She wants to befriend you, and why do you feel complicated? Wouldn’t it be a good thing if you could learn something from an interesting person like her?" Feng Xue put her finger on Mingyue’s chin and raised her little sister’s face to stare at her.

"Ah, uhm... you’re right, eldest sister. Then, we must head out to participate in Miko’s team." Mingyue’s eyes brightened.

She then invited Meiying to immediately go after Miko. Apart from Feng Xue’s people, everyone in the room immediately followed them.

"Phew..." Feng Xue heaved a sigh of relief. To think her little sister would feel insecure after comparing one’s talent to another.

Apart from that, she was mainly relieved because she cleared the misunderstanding. Thought those misunderstandings stemmed from her little sister... Mingyue misunderstood her as a criminal and kidnapper who targets beautiful and talented young girls.

Bad rumors spread out there, but that was the opposition faction doing. The truth, she actively sought and recruited several beautiful, talented young girls under her banner.

Her maidservants were also her disciples and the people she recruited.

The untold truth was she did need their blood a bit to increase her cultivation and satiate her bloodthirst. They were happy to give their blood to her every month. However, that was just between her and her maidservants.

"Fufu~ Miko is so tempting. I wonder what her blood tastes like. It must be very delicious." Feng Xue rested her cheek against his hand with an intoxicating expression.

"My lady, please be mindful of your words. You can raise another misunderstanding with that."

"I don’t know if it’s lust or desire. You already have us, yet you crave for the other."

"Fufu, you’re scared of Saintess Miko’s white flames, my lady. So, please behave well. You’re human, not a demon."

"Hm? Even the authentic blood demon is so well-behaved than our thirsty lady. Fortunately, they didn’t hear what she said, or it would be a big problem."

Feng Xue’s maidservants covered their mouths and chatted casually while subtly satirizing their Empress.

"Huh?" Feng Xue looked right and left. Only her and her maidservants remained in that room. So, her murmurs just now wouldn’t raise another misunderstanding. "Well, I behave so well, you know? Never mind. Let’s go. We need to catch up with the others."

After saying that, Feng Xue left with her maidservants.

For the next several hours, Ely investigated the Heavenly Demon’s underground ancient ruins.

She used her eye ability to map hidden dangers, and her people did their jobs to secure some cursed artifacts and key items. They avoided the traps and started exploring the unknown ancient civilizations.

"Fwahh..." Ely yawned and covered her mouth.

"Not good." Yuuki noticed Ely was exhausted. She muttered softly, but it was pretty clear for everyone to hear.

"Not good? Is there a hidden danger?" Mingyue put her hand on her sword’s hilt.

"..." Yuuki didn’t know what hidden danger Minyue was talking about. Yet, the surrounding people were already prepared to face the danger.

She asked via hand gesture as she wanted to know Ely’s well-being, but Ely replied with a no.

’We need to blow this ancient ruins, seal it, and bury it hundreds of meters underground to ensure that this place will never see the light again. Beyond this, there are too many dangers.’ Ely gently rubbed her eyes and muttered nonchalantly via the telepathy talisman.

She used her eye ability too much today, and her eyes feel sore. Not to mention, drowsiness would soon win her over. She truly wanted to go to bed soon, or she would be screwed tomorrow morning.

Therefore, she hoped they could immediately settle the matters here or delegate everything to someone else. After all, there were plenty of reinforcements there.

"!?"

Ely’s core disciples and her friends understood Ely’s intentions very well. They had gone quite deep into the ancient ruins, and the risk would be too great if they went any deeper.

They also couldn’t find anything valuable so far apart from some cursed artifacts and key items to open some accursed sealed rooms. Thus, blowing up this wicked place and burying it deep underground was more satisfactory.

"No, don’t try to open this gate. I’m not sure it’s wise to deal with more trap mechanisms here. We should blow this place and bury it deep underground."

"The Heavenly Demon is dead, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility that another one will rise another day. We must seal this place and ensure these underground ruins will never return to the surface."

"We need to bury hidden dangers. There is a reason why dangerous ancient ruins are always found deep underground. It’s the best option available."

Evelyn and several of Ely’s disciples prevented anyone from trying to open the gate before them. They had gone far enough, and everyone was tired. Several disciples also immediately supported the decision.

Feng Xue put her hand to her chin. She glanced at the nearby great elders. Several people said the danger, and they took it seriously. "I see... That makes sense. It will bring us no good if we go much deeper into treacherous trap territory. Then, let’s return and gather people to make sure this place is sealed deep underground. That way, there will be no more hidden danger from this place."

With that being said, the investigation was over. People gathered to form a gigantic formation to destroy the ancient ruins and bury that accursed place deep underground.
