My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 333: The New Hero (2)

Chapter 333: The New Hero (2)

Satria immediately grabbed the envelope under his pillow and read the letter.

He wasn’t sure whether it was a tomboy-looking girl or a lady-looking boy. However, that person’s skin was smooth white and had beautiful long hair. That person was definitely not ordinary because only the rich and powerful could maintain such a fair appearance.

[Thank you, Mister Knight. Go and achieve your dreams.]

"..." Satria was silent for a moment after reading the letter. It was just a word of gratitude and encouragement.

The handwriting was also beautifully written. It was clearly not a man’s handwriting but a noble lady’s!

However, a ticket suddenly fell from the envelope he was holding. It was a plane ticket to Beijing, China.

He also found another one in the envelope. It was a flyer of a superhero academy in East Asia’s main base.

"Haha..." Satria slapped his forehead, feeling like he was holding a joke.

He had no idea how that person could come up with this offer. Even though he really wanted to be a superhero, he was not someone who was blessed with superpowers.

"Kyah!" The nurse stumbled. She closed her eyes reflexively when she knew she was about to hit the floor.

"!?" Satria was surprised. His mind registered the command to help that nurse, and his body responded with a superhuman movement to catch the fallen nurse before she fell to the floor.

"???" Satria and the nurse looked at each other, confused about what had happened.

The nurse was flabbergasted because the patient suddenly moved like a superman to catch her.

However, Satria was no less surprised because he knew he had just moved at super speed.

"Are you okay?" Satria helped the nurse to stand up, still feeling confused.

"Ah, yes. Thank you." The nurse blushed a little, feeling this patient was so handsome.

His eyes and hair were as dark as obsidian, skin as tan as caramel, teeth as white as milk, and a temperament that resembled a knight. His face is not very striking, just barely above ordinary. However, for some reason, he was sparkling. Those bruises and bumps didn’t even diminish his dashing persona.

’What’s wrong with me?’ The nurse covered her face with both hands, feeling herself strange. She then excused herself and left the room.

"..." Satria had many questions in his mind. He tried to lift the heavy hospital bed, but it felt light like cotton.

However, his superpower suddenly disappeared a few seconds later.

*Bam!*

Satria couldn’t lift the heavy hospital bed anymore and dropped it to the floor, producing a loud sound.

"What in the world..." Satria looked at his hands questioningly, but excitement immediately enveloped his heart, knowing his awakening superpower.

Even though he still had no idea about his superpower, his hope of becoming a superhero finally came to him.

He spoke nothing and immediately prostrated himself on the floor, facing west. He chanted countless praises to God for the blessing he received from Heaven.

"That’s right... The newly awakened ones should report and register to the Esper Association. It’s only a matter of time until the higher-ups notice me, and it looks bad to be picked up by force..." Satria just remembered something.

However, he began to wonder about that tomboy-looking girl’s identity. She had something to do with his awakening. She also suggested he join the superhero academy in East Asia’s main base.

"Indonesia doesn’t have a superhero academy. She wants me to go international. It’s in Beijing, huh... Okay, I can speak fluent English and know Chinese a little. No problem. Let’s register first, resign from that black company, and achieve my dreams!" Satria clenched his fist with determination.

He took the offer and immediately grabbed his things. His smartphone ran out of power, but he wasn’t worried about being scolded by his boss because he would bid farewell to his loser life.

As for his family’s massive debt, he could pay it all off sooner or later because superhero salaries were considered one of the highest of all occupations.

"Oww, ooww..." Satria hissed in pain, only to realize that he was still injured. His face was even a bit swollen, and his body was covered with many bruises.

Regardless, he still packed his things and left the VIP treatment room. He could no longer wait to greet his bright future.

Several doctors and nurses tried to restrain him from leaving because he was still injured, but he was adamant about going.

Since the patient’s medical bill had already been paid and he could walk well, no one tried to stop him anymore.

However, Satria visited the reception desk first, hoping to get a hint about that person. That tomboy-looking girl was his savior, and she was the only one who could tell him what happened last night.

"I’m sorry, sir. The one who paid your treatment bill didn’t leave his name." The receptionist shook her head.

"Alright. It’s okay. Thank you, miss." Satria scratched his head and then raised his hand in farewell.

His old black sedan was parked in the corner of the parking lot, and it took him tens of minutes to find his car.

*V-v-v... Vroom!*

Satria started the engine up and then stroked his old car. It was an old model with an outdated engine but still his greatest treasure and asset. "Thank you, old friend. You’ve accompanied me everywhere during my difficult journey. Once I gain a lot of money, I will upgrade you to the super sedan too."

Satria drove his car and visited the Esper Association branch office to register as a cadet. After a few minutes of waiting, he received the ticket for his entrance test and went to the test room.

Several people would be tested, and a burly instructor was waiting in front of them with a fierce expression.

"The test is fairly simple. Just show us your superpower. If you have an offensive move, try to punch that big boy over there with all your strength." The instructor pointed to a giant doll in the middle of the room.

"Haha, it’s show time. I will be the first, sir." A thin man raised his hand.

"Go for it." The instructor nodded.

"Uraaa!" The skinny man took his stance and accumulated his hidden power. His body bulged and filled with flesh and muscle quickly.

His skinny body suddenly turned into the big, tall, muscular man, the ideal shape of a world-famous bodybuilder.

After that, he punched the giant doll, but it only swayed. A symbol then appeared on the big doll’s head.

"Jonathan Sinaga. Super muscle transformation. D Rank. You pass. You can join our army or try to get the recommendation exam to join the superhero academy at East Asia’s main headquarters." The instructor nodded slightly.

"I thought this doll mocked me by showing me a big D. But, D Rank, huh... That’s not so bad." Jonathan laughed in satisfaction.

He went to the corner of the room to watch the other newcomers, waiting for at least a friend to accompany him to the next test.

People took the test in turn. Some passed the requirements to try the next exam for a recommendation ticket to join East Asia’s headquarters. Yet, some were only suitable for the local training facility.

"It’s my turn." The scary-looking man with a big blue tiger’s head tattoo on his right arm stepped forward.

"It’s rare for a thug to join the Esper Association. They usually go against the law and the government, doing as they please."

"Hey, watch your words. He looks strong."

"I heard he is a hidden expert from the Tiger Tooth Gang who controls this province’s underworld. Not that underworld, but the city’s dark side."

"It’s scary..."

Several people whispered to each other, feeling afraid of the tiger man.

"..." Satria frowned. He remembered what those thugs said about the Tiger Tooth Gang after beating him black and blue last night.

"The tiger hidden in my soul. Come forth!" The tiger man shouted, and blue flames emerged from his arm to cover his entire body, forming a humanoid blue fire tiger.

He punched the giant doll with all his might. The heavy doll was blown away and bounced until it hit the wall, but it bounced back toward the other participants.

"You...!" The nearby girl took out her iron pole and elongated it.

"!!!" Satria widened his eyes when he saw the giant doll fall towards him and would crush him within seconds.

It would also harm other people. At that moment, his body received a tremendous after-effect stimulus to move. He moved like a flash, catching the giant doll mid-air and returning it to the ground, producing a loud thud.

"Hmm?" The instructor was ready to make his move, but someone had already preceded him.

"Impressive. Byakko Hong, Blue Fire Tiger transformation. B Rank. We will keep an eye on you, and don’t try to trigger anything funny in the Esper Association." The instructor reminded the tiger-looking man firmly.

He then looked at the young man who caught the giant doll with one hand. That thing weighed about three tons and received the after-impact from the tiger punch.

That young man moved like lighting and handled everything like child play. However, that young man’s superpower was still somewhat unstable and fluctuating, which was obviously due to his newly awakened ability.

"Satria, B Rank ability. Superhuman reinforcement. The B Rank and above must take the test for the recommendation ticket." The instructor nodded in satisfaction with the results.

This year’s recruits were quite interesting. Even though those new cadets would train overseas and build careers in other countries, their home country would greatly benefit from various sources.

"O-oh, okay..." Satria scratched his head in surprise. He replied with a tactical nod and left after getting his pass paper.

"Haha, you’re not bad, young friend. My name is Jonathan Sinaga. Just call me Jon. Let’s go to the next exam." Jonathan patted Satria’s shoulder, greeting his new friend with a friendly laugh.

"I am Satria, Sir Jon. You look like a senior rather than a newly awakened ability user." Satria couldn’t help but smile in wonderment.

"I’m an old scavenger who lives under a bridge. Heaven somehow wants me to save the world. I also wish to improve my quality of life before I die. Let’s try our best, young friend. Haha!" Jonathan laughed out loud.

"..." The girl with the iron pole in hand fell silent while staring at the muscular old man and a young man for a moment, then glared at the tiger man.

"Hmph. Is it only B Rank? I thought I could achieve S Rank." Byakko snorted sarcastically and extinguished his blue tiger fire. He walked away from the room proudly.

"He’s just a veteran criminal and hitman... why did he join the association now? He already became an esper years ago. But... it’s good. You’ll pay for all your sins soon. I’ll ensure it." The girl murmured under her breath.

---

Two hours later, Satria came out of the Esper Association branch office with a recommendation ticket, an identity card as a superhero cadet, and an envelope containing scholarship money in hand.

Since he already had a plane ticket to Beijing, he could save some money thanks to his savior. The state covered his tuition fee, and he also received pocket money!

"Good gracious. A superhero cadet’s pocket money is even bigger than my annual salary..." Satria widened his eyes when calculating the amount of money he received.

The cash in the envelope was only 8 million IDR. Considering the current inflation, it wasn’t much if he converted it to USD or CNY. But, the amount that entered his bank account pleased his poor soul.

*Bzzt* *Bzzt* *Bzzt*

Satria could feel his newly recharged smartphone vibrating in his pocket. He took it out and found it was his boss’ call and notification of 21 missed calls.

He picked up the phone call and received shouts of abuse from his boss. Unfortunately, he was already the carefree superhero cadet and would bid farewell to his loser life.

"Haha, I’m sorry, boss. I’m leaving the shitty black company of yours. I resign, and goodbye." Satria responded with laughter.

"Do you think you can resign because you said so? Hurry to the office now. There are a ton of tasks you need to complete today, ungrateful dumbass!" The boss shouted angrily.

"Sorry, boss, but I’ve become a superhero cadet. I’m not sure you want to offend the government, the national military, and the international Esper Association, right? I’m going to East Asia’s main base today. Good luck with your company!" Satria hung up the call without waiting for a response from his former boss. He was free to achieve his dream now.
