"There is no time for recovery. I shall return to the battlefield to eradicate those evil things." The Fox King grimaced over his wounds, but he immediately grabbed his battle armor as he wished to return to the battlefield.

"No, husband. You are still seriously injured! Let me hold them in Hong City." The Fox Queen blocked her husband’s path.

"Our sealed secret realm has been breached, and those evil things are slaughtering our kins as we speak. It’s either we die or they perish. I might die, but I will drag that Demon King to God of Hell with me." The Fox King pushed his wife aside and took out his war spear.

"Mom..." The young little pink fox grabbed her mother’s sleeve with a teary gaze, understanding the scary situation would occur.

"I’m sorry, princess. But, you are our hope. We need to fulfill the Queen’s last wish." Yao bit her lower lips and hurriedly fled with her thousand shadow steps, leaving the palace and the city.

Several tens of kilometers from the Capital City, a great battle between the demi-humans, mostly foxkin, and the demon invasion reached its final breaking point where the invaders attacked brutally, but the defenders were not afraid to die.

In the center of the wrecked city, besieged fortresses became battlegrounds as the demon army laid siege against the city walls. Brave defenders held fast relentless against assaults with unwavering determination even as their supplies dwindled and their numbers were depleted.

In the sky above, sorcerers duel amidst swirling vortexes of magic. Their spells tore through the air as they vie for supremacy over the forces of nature. Lightning tore the clouds, fire rained down the city, and earth trembled beneath their feet.

As the tide of battle turned against them, the defenders of the foxkin kingdom had no other choice but to resort their desperate measures to turn the tide of war in their favor. Ancient artifacts were unearthed and forbidden rituals were performed.

"Hahaha, that’s useless! You are prey from birth. Be obedient and surrender. We shall grant you a painless death!" The Demon General laughed mockingly at the destroyed defense troops.

"Never once in my lifetime. I will not allow you despicable demon to go any further than this." The Fox Elder held his ancient artifact with his hands full of blood, ready to burn his vitality to drag the demons to the deepest hell.

"We’re born as a proud demi-human. We will put your ambitions and evil intentions to rest." The nearby Tiger Elder spat out a mouthful of blood and sneered.

The other elder remained silent, but she sent an order for other forces to speed up the evacuation to the Capital City. They and the remaining defenders would hold off the demons as long as they could.

"Do you think you can buy time for that futile evacuation? Charge! Kill all those who resist, capture the women and children!" The Demon General raised his greatsword high.

The demon army roared out loud with their battle cry, charging at the enemy’s forces in droves.

The three elders tried their best to survive, assisted by the remaining guardmen. Unfortunately, they were outnumbered and couldn’t withstand the onslaught.

The desperate measures were half performed, but reinforcements suddenly arrived.

Several white flames rained down, blasting the charging demons. A white scarf descended to save the surrounded defenders.

"You really don’t put this king in the eyes, Demon General Yorn. Do you think I will let you do as you please in my land?" The Fox King squinted his eyes and brandished his spear at the ugly great demon below.

"Fox King Bai? Why can you recover so quickly after being beaten by Demon King Argus? No... you’re just pretending to be tough." Demon General Yorn widened his red demonic eyes in disbelief. Even so, he tried to reassure himself with confidence because he could gain unmeasurable prestige and benefit if he brought the Fox King’s dead body to the Demon King.

The Demon General had his eyes on the pink Fox Queen and licked his lips, thinking she could be used as a perfect furnace to improve one’s cultivation.

"How bold. Today is your death day, demons. Your king shall follow after you!" The Fox Queen unsheathed her longsword and slashed the air, manifesting several wind blades to the demon army formation.

"Follow my lead!" Fox King Bai raised his spear.

Since reinforcements from Capital City arrived, a great battle between the defense army led by Fox King Bai and the demon army led by the Demon General Yorn ensued for another rounds.

Against all odds, the defenders of the foxkin kingdom united in a final, desperate stand against the demon army. With the strength of their unity and the courage of their convictions, they pushed back the demon invaders out of Hong City.

Hundreds of mid-rank and below demons died on the spot, but the surviving forces decided to retreat from the destroyed city.

"..." Fox King Bai took cover behind the wall and knelt down, supported by his spear. His wounds and repercussions flared up, making him vomit blood.

"Husband..." The Fox Queen helped her husband drink a healing potion, but it wasn’t enough for him. Therefore, she took out another one, but her husband grabbed her hand suddenly.

"Yun... save the rest. They are waiting something outside the city walls. I’m afraid the Demon King will arrive soon." Fox King Bai looked up with a sharp gaze.

"I’ll accompany you even in death. I’ve sent Yao to take our princess to a safe place." Fox Queen Yun’s lips trembled, realizing that her husband would drain his vitality to kill the Demon King soon.

A black vortex emerged out of thin air, and a demonic hand suddenly strangled the fleeing Fox Queen Yun.

"Ack!" Fox Queen Yun tried to resist, but the Demon King instantly suppressed her spiritual energy. She trashed around, but the Demon King was too big. Her kick and fist couldn’t reach the enemy.

"Yun!" Fox King Bai widened his eyes in shock.

"It’s Demon King Argus! It’s our win, hahaha!" Demon General Yorn cheered happily, enlivened by the other demons.

"Yorn, you are so pathetic. You got beaten by these prey like a loser." Demon King Argus frowned at his lousy Demon General.

"My King, they are one Emperor and four Saints. I am only a 7th Rank demon. It was my honor to fight to a draw against them." Demon General Yorn tried to reason, trying to avoid the blame.

"That makes sense. You did well." Demon King Argus nodded in understanding.

"Let go of the queen!" One of the elders shouted out loud and made his move to free the queen from the Demon King’s grasp.

Unfortunately, a dark thorn suddenly spiked up out of thin air, impaling him to the ground.

"Elder Jing..." Fox King Bai gritted his teeth. He straightened his back and prepared to fight it out.

"Do you want to save your wife? This is interesting. Which is more important between her and your trusted people. Kill one of them, and I will ’relieve’ her." Demon King Argus stared at the other elders around Fox King Bai.

His eyes glowed bright purple with wisdom to reduce the number of enemies without effort.

The argument broke out, but the Demon King wouldn’t wait. He began to count, until finally, one of the elders stepped forward onto Fox King Bai’s spear.

"My king, please save the queen and our kingdom. My life was taken by Her Majesty, and my death is surely what must be paid if it can save her." The nearby green fox lady smiled with a gaze full of consent. She pushed the king’s spear through her heart, and she died on the spot.

"Hngh!" Fox Queen Yun screamed in sorrow and regret. She tried to break free to call the dying elder’s name, but she couldn’t say anything because she almost ran out of air from strangulation.

"Hahahaha! This is really amusing. You will kill anyone, including your subjects, mercilessly if it can save your family. So, what’s the difference between you and the corrupted king?" Demon King Argus laughed loudly.

Demon King Argus punched the Fox Queen’s abdomen, crippling her in one movement to ensure she would pose no threat. He then threw her to the dead fox elder.

"You!" Fox King Bai gritted his teeth in anger. His spiritual energy was already erupting in fury, ready to explode at any moment.
