My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 440: Self-Detonation

Chapter 440: Self-Detonation

In the turbulent sky above the polluted river near the fallen city, a fierce battle unfolded between the skywater jet riders and the relentless water monsters.

Riding atop sleek, aerodynamic vehicles known as skywater jets, the brave Extermination Squad soared through the clouds. Clad in lightweight armor and armed with an array of high-tech weaponry, they began to eradicate the encroaching horde of water monsters.

Guerrilla warfare tactics were used to divide enemy forces. The warriors would engage in frontal combat for a few minutes and immediately flew high into the sky, breaking through the clouds, periodically.

*Vroom!*

Sylvia throttled her skywater jet and landed near the fallen city. She felt the entire battle was too easy but still fun.

"Nice shot!" Elysia killed the last water monster standing, and obliterated it into water vapor, leaving a small piece of fragment behind.

The nearby devil warriors shared the task of picking up the dropped core fragments like they were securing the scattered diamonds.

"Hum..." Yuuki lowered her ice bow as the battle was already over.

"Good job." Xentia raised her thumb up, appreciating Yuuki’s ice arrows to set up the crowd control.

"I got the most kills." Zera blew her riffle’s muzzle and declared her achievement proudly.

"You won narrowly." Ai shrugged her shoulders.

"Phew..." Mio wiped her sweat while panting. It truly put her under tremendous pressure to follow Zera’s commands.

"I’m still alive!" Erina was also panting. She had driven various kinds of vehicles and combat mechs, but it was her first experience collaborating with a Goddess, flying around the void.

All she had to do was to follow Ai’s commands in the competition against Zera, but she thought she almost died several times!

"Hey, this feels really easy, and I’m not sure they can be called a threat. We haven’t even encountered any primary clone. They’re just minor clones and minions." He-Dao recharged his weapon’s barrel.

He had quite fun, but everything seemed strange because they never encountered the monster capable of destroying the big city, which caused Wales City to collapse.

"Father, are those all the water monsters? I’m not sure you would abandon the city just because of them." Sylvia also felt those monsters were too weak.

"Yeah, they’re just the monster minions created by Sea God’s divinity, not the real clones from his divine soul core fragments. I’m sure you know that Sea God can split its existence into three thousand, right?" Dylan took a deep breath as he stared deep into the city.

"Yes, and what’s the situation? The minor clone isn’t part of the three thousand, right?" Elysia took out the pearl-like core.

"I assume you have discovered everything. Those water mermaid-like demons are just minor clones. One of the mentioned three thousand... we call them primary clones and one of them resides in Wales City’s underground facility. This one is the cause and primary target in this mission." Dylan got off his skywater jet and took out a high-energy blaster gun.

"O-oh~" Sylvia finally understood the situation.

"Sylvi, how about you take the lead to eradicate this regional boss? That one is the one who destroyed your hometown. You can take care of this primary clone just fine." Elysia proposed an idea, and Sylvia’s eyes sparkled with radiance.

"That’s a good idea. Please wait here for a moment. I’ll pull that Polluted Sea God’s primary clone out." Sylvia summoned her divine spear and leaped high into the sky.

"Don’t insta-kill her as we need to try talking to her first." Elysia kept her cannon and immediately followed Sylvia using the skywater jet.

"Hey! The weakening radiation is quite strong down there. Move according to plan!" Dylan shouted in warning before rushing after Elysia and his daughter.

"Worry not. Even though you are only one step towards godhood, I have already stepped into the threshold by the higher world standard, father." Sylvia raised her hand to reassure her worrywart father.

"..." Dylan grumbled under his breath, looking at Elysia with complaints because his daughter would only listen to Elysia’s words now.

"Go, follow them." Ai gently poked Erina’s back.

"O-okay." Erina throttled the gas and drove the skywater jet towards the sky, following Elysia.

Mio immediately followed suit because Zera didn’t want to miss the fun. As for Xentia and Yuuki, they stayed behind to oversee the overall situation, including the Extermination Squad who were still busy picking up the core fragments.

"Hmm..." Xentia scanned the skywater jet and disintegrator rifle for reference only. However, her technology and mechs were still the best for all situations and conditions.

"Is this good?" Yuuki looked around.

"No. Our mech battlesuit and advanced weapons are far superior. This machine is just for fun purposes. My technology is also cooler and more beautiful." Xentia felt proud when she said that.

"Mm, our master is so fond of you. You always do your best in this kind of field, Xen." Yuuki patted Xentia’s back. Everyone never said it out loud, but everyone appreciated Xentia’s efforts.

"Mm, that’s all that matters. Everything for our master." Xentia replied with a determined gaze, feeling happy with her family.

---

Right below the destroyed palace, an abandoned underground facility that was once used as a place that gave birth to many of the Devil Race’s advanced technologies was already reduced to ruins.

Nothing remained intact, but all the important parts had been evacuated, leaving only a messy, empty laboratory.

A blob-like squishy female water demoness was sleeping, curled up around a reactor that was emitting mysterious radiation.

"It has a weakening effect, but why that thing is so fond of it?" Sylvia shook her head in amusement.

She swung her divine spear and smacked that sleeping water demoness with its blunt side.

*Bam!*

The ground shook and the nearby rubbles began to collapse due to the powerful impact.

"Graa!" The water demoness woke up furious, wondering who dared to wake her up with a sudden attack.

"Hey, old hag! Are you tired of being a fake gentleman? It’s so funny to see you retire early just to be a woman. I don’t know what your goal is, but screw you! Go fck yourself!" Sylvia raised her middle finger before escaping from the underground facility.

"Presumptuous dead meat! I want to devour you whole!" The water demoness screamed in rage and rushed after Sylvia.

It slithered like an agile snake, passing through gaps, and leaped to the surface quickly.

"Oh God..." Erina widened her eyes when a giant purple water demoness emerged from underground, chasing Sylvia with a mouth full of fangs opened wide.

"Stay on the ground!" Sylvia turned around mid-air, throwing her divine spear for a fatal strike straight at the giant water demoness’ core.

*Swoosh!* *Rumble!*

The spear covered in red lightning and red blood vortex shot out like a drill, piercing the giant water demoness from the mouth down to the stomach, and stuck into the ground, leaving a big crater.

The giant water demoness was shocked beyond measure. She looked down and her body splashed into helpless water, flooding the destroyed palace with purple liquid.

Just when everyone thought it was over, the disintegrated giant water demoness rose again from the pool of purple water, spewing hundreds of poisonous water balls into the sky.

"Hahaha! It wouldn’t be fun if you died that easily! My name is Sylvia Transcendent. State your name before I kill you!" Sylvia evaded the ball of poisonous water with agile movements.

"Puny devil. This venerable one is the 976th Sea God’s fragment. The one who will be killed is you, puny devil." The giant water demoness rose up, forming a water pillar that showered the surrounding terrain in slimy liquid, manifesting a purple water domain.

"You destroyed my hometown, and I shall make you suffer." Sylvia’s expression suddenly became cold. She retracted her divine spear and began to shower the giant water demoness with various black flames and blood techniques.

"Please leave the rest to Sylvi. She is more than enough to handle that giant water demoness." Elysia stretched her hand to the side, stopping Dylan from intervening.

"..." Dylan just glanced to the side and sighed.

"Eww, no wonder devils abandoned this city. Look at that disgusting purple liquid and the stench. This city is already contaminated. Goddess Ely just purified this city’s downtown area a few hours ago..." Amy covered her mouth and nose as she slowly moved away from the city.

*Bam!* *Rumble!*

Sylvia punched the giant water demoness barehanded, unharmed by any kind of substance. "This is for my house, this is for your arrogance, this is because you annoyed me. You made me covered in dirty liquid!"

After several beatings, the house-sized giant water demoness reduced in size, leaving only a child-sized demoness. She was dizzy and moaning in pain, wondering about why those physical attacks could harm her water body.

"Who exactly are you? Don’t think you can escape from this. My comrades will avenge me!" The water demoness asked in fear, half melted, but unable to escape the devil’s grip.

"Heh, we’ll hunt them soon. Or, we can also go straight to the world boss in the far eastern sea." Sylvia gripped the half-melted water demoness’ chest tightly. She then raised her hand to signal Elysia and everyone.

"Well done, Sylvi. Err... you can release her now. Bind." Elysia smiled awkwardly because Sylvia squeezed the half-melted water demoness’ breasts tightly.

"You..." The water demoness was so frightened when she discovered the descending girl possessed a divine aura.

"Tell me, who you really are? You are not Oceanid, the original Sea God, correct?" Elysia averted her gaze, peering deep into the water demoness’ core and soul fragment.

"Heh." The water demoness smirked. She self-detonated herself, creating a burst of deadly water explosion.

"You’re so desperate, huh..." Elysia gripped the water demoness’ soul core fragment, preventing further destruction.

"How..." The water demoness widened her eyes in shock. She failed to harm a Goddess with her death, but she had already burned all of her remaining energy.

"Ely, we are all sticky and slimy." Sylvia chuckled in amusement.

"That thing is so afraid of you. Under the most desperate situation, that thing sometimes will blow itself up, but that’s to create an opening to escape. Just now, that thing’s goal is to harm you. Why is that?" Dylan landed in complete astonishment.

"..." Elysia felt a bit gloomy. Luckily, she was protected by a protective barrier. So, she wasn’t actually exposed to the dirty liquid.

Even though she was dejected because the target had disappeared, she could only sigh. She handed over the fist-sized red core covered in purple liquid to Sylvia and used magic to clean their bodies.

"Thanks, Ely. Uhm, this is for you, father. Consider it as our additional gift. Anyway, what do you want to do with this soul core and shard fragments?" Sylvia handed over the fist-sized core to her father.

"This one held the power to support the semi-eternal region-grade reactor. It also can operate a massive floating island for tens of thousands of years." Dylan wiped the precious core carefully.
