Chapter 445: The Empress who Abandoned Her Crown
Chapter 445: The Empress who Abandoned Her Crown
Like the other continents which were ruled by a race, the Beastkin Continent was occupied by the Beastkin Race. The demihumans and werebeasts on the Beastkin Continent held their humanoid form in high regard, especially the ones dominant to the human in appearance.
In contrast to their neighbor, the Beast Race on the Beast Continent greatly glorified their beast form and looked down on any beast with human dominant form. A small part of their population could transform into their humanoid form, but it was beast-dominant and they seldom use that kind of ability.
Yhester Kingdom, the central region of the Beastkin Continent, the land where Soul Fox Empress Luna once held her sovereignty for hundreds of years.
Five years ago, the Soul Fox Empress who was renowned for her femme fatale suddenly announced her abdication, handing over her throne to the dragon king. She joined the divine group to protect the world. That sudden event shocked the kingdom and probably the entire Beastkin Continent.
An agreement and vow of the dragonkin had been in effect since the Dragon King Kazuma ascended the throne, even though he didn’t want it. Unfortunately, the Goddesses’ involvement left the arrogant dragons had no choice but to obey.
Since then, the dragonkin who usually didn’t care about world affairs inevitably became the guardians of the Beastkin Continent, especially around the central region.
"I know you all won’t perish that easily. Anyway, welcome back to Vrelenia." Dragon King Kazuma sipped his wine with a serene attitude.
"Luna, are the Goddesses also returning? Why didn’t they come with you? Nara wants to meet God Ely." The pinkish-white little dragon girl patted Luna’s lap, asking something like it was an emergency, but her expression filled with extreme curiosity.
"Nara, please be polite. Please pardon my baby daughter, Empress Luna. She has long wanted to meet Goddess Ely and demonic black dragon Sylvia." Azumi held her daughter close and sincerely apologized.
"Fufu, I’m no longer an Empress here. Goddess Ely is currently on Human Continent." Luna laughed gracefully and offered a big candy to the little dragon girl.
"Thank you, Empress Luna. Can we visit the Human Continent?" Nara received her big lollipop with sparkling eyes and looked up before putting the candy into her mouth.
"Hum, since you’ve returned, should I return your crown back to you? To be honest, I want to focus on my Drago Island." Kazuma put down his wine glass and made a steeple of his fingers with a solemn expression.
"My apologies, Dragon King Kazuma... we didn’t come to take back the throne." Luna shook her head.
"May I know the reason? Our promise only applies because you need to assist the divine group and the Goddesses during the decisive battle against the Ruvoid. However, those monsters have perished for good now." Kazuma frowned.
"You are a capable and strong Emperor-level dragon. I do not doubt your strength and ability to prosper your people. Please continue to rule the Yhester Kingdom."
"What are you trying to say? You suddenly become irresponsible. They are your people. They will be overjoyed at your return."
"Hmm, yes, but actually no. They are actually afraid of my soul fox tribe. Unfortunately, it’s just me and my daughter now."
"I don’t think so. Your Evroria Clan is still alive today. Those soul foxes are still healthy and prosperous."
"The bloodline running in their veins is the non-pure breed, the result of cross-breeding of branch families long ago. They survived the Blood Night Purge because they did not have soul fox’s trademark abilities. Everyone from the main family died that day, leaving us helpless mother and daughter as the sole survivor who carries the soul fox’s pure bloodline."
"The divination and soul manipulation, huh... your tribe is indeed dangerous and has long been an eyesore for many. So, what is your goal now?"
Kazuma suddenly felt a bit gloomy because he could tell Luna had given up her throne without any intention of taking it back. However, a sad atmosphere suddenly enveloped the room, and he couldn’t help but lament.
"..." Lynn looked down, feeling a bit sad. Her mother brought up a heavy topic, and that tragedy was truly cruel.
All soul foxes, especially those with pure blood, were slaughtered that night, leaving none alive. That was what it should have been, but her father devised an escape plan to ensure her and her mother’s safety at the price of his life.
Years after the blood night purge, her mother came into power with an iron fist and took revenge for the tragedy. All those involved received the most painful death penalty beyond a nightmare.
"I’m sorry for your loss, Luna. Please tell me what we can do to help you. We’re also Goddess Ely’s followers. I will help you to the best of my abilities." Azumi wiped the tears at the corner of her eyes and held Luna’s hands. She had heard the story of the tragedy, and Luna was actually a pitiful lady.
"It’s okay. Please continue to protect the Beastkin Continent, the home of our kin. We actually just came to visit to see how you deal with the Polluted Sea God’s clones and minions." Luna replied with a faint smile.
"Sigh..." Kazuma sighed as he knew Luna’s decision would lead to the soul fox tribe’s extinction, or rather, the world would lose the authentic pure-blood soul fox.
"So, you want to serve the Goddesses until the end of your life, huh. I can’t imagine what would happen if I were in your position. You are a great person. I hope you find happiness by the Goddesses’ side." Kazuma crossed his arms as he still couldn’t understand the Soul Fox Empress.
"Yes, we have a good master now. I couldn’t be happier on her side. Since here is probably the safest region compared to the others, then we’d better excuse ourselves. We need to visit the Beast Continent to look for Vanessa’s uncle and aunt." Luna signaled everyone because it was their time to go.
"Wait, master? Who is the master you mentioned?" Kazuma stood up in shock.
Unlike the Beast Race, if a pure-blooded beastkin acknowledged someone as master, then it would be the same as vowing to serve and spend the rest of their life with the said master. It would be fair to say they married their master!
He believed the foxkin wouldn’t seek out another mate after their spouse died, and would remain loyal to the memory of their previous mate. But, that didn’t seem to be the case...
"Yes, our best and supreme divine master, Goddess Ely." Luna waved her hand. She then whispered something to the little dragon girl, and Nara nodded in understanding.
"O-oh..." Kazuma rubbed his head. It would make sense to acknowledge a Goddess as a master. So, his previous conjecture was invalid.
Luna left the palace with her group. Luna’s purpose had been achieved. Kazuma would stay as the king, and the dragonkin under Kazuma’s sovereignty would continue to protect the Yhester Kingdom and Beastkin Continent.
Azumi then had a brief discussion with her husband to stop bringing up issues related to the throne to Luna. He should stay as the good king and rule the Yhester Kingdom for Luna’s sake as well. Their Drago Island was also not too far from Evroria City.
"Hum, I’m glad you understand. Everyone already respects you as a capable king, dear. Anyway, what did Luna whisper to you, precious?" Azumi leaned forward, looking at her daughter on her lap.
"Nara wants to meet Goddess Ely today, but Nara can only see half the sky." Nara looked up at the sky on her mother’s lap, but a pair of big melons suddenly hit her face. She pushed them away desperately. "Umff! Mom, don’t hit Nara with your heavy breasts!"
"H-heavy? Mom isn’t heavy..." Azumi pressed her fingers together, feeling a little down.
"Luna said we should visit the Human Continent if we want to meet Goddess Ely. Goddess Ely won’t go anywhere for now. Nara will visit Goddess Ely after finishing this lollipop." Nara bit the lollipop and chewed it.
"Mom is going too! Will you come with us, dear?" Azumi pumped her fists as she also wanted to meet the Savior Goddess again.
"Yeah, sure. We’ll visit Aeddoterra City in two hours." Kazuma looked up at the distant southern sky with a sigh.

In a room covered in a harmonious and cheerful atmosphere, Rosa laughed cheerfully like an ordinary girl, unbecoming of the Starlight Corporation’s president.
"Phew, this chili is the best, especially because this blessing was cooked and given directly by the Divine Goddess. But, how can fruits and vegetables grow that big? What am I supposed to do with them?" Rosa fanned her slightly reddened face and pointed to the nearby big gifts.
She only took several bites of Elysia’s spicy food, rekindling her love for Elysia’s cooking. However, those extra-large fruits and vegetables concerned her.
Those fruits and vegetables were probably from the land of giants because the size of one could make a whole family full all day!
"Haha, I know right! We harvested them on otherworld. You can plant some of those high-grade seeds and cultivate them here. Just imagine a garden of high-grade gigantic harvest. You’ll hit it hard in the market if you play it right." Sylvia laughed happily as she could tell Vrelenia’s agriculture would develop to a greater height with those seeds and samples.
"Ugh, they suddenly became too bright. Can I cultivate them properly? I only excel in sewing, design, and business." Rosa felt a little doubtful about the trust and opportunities given to her.
"You can do it, Rosa." Elysia entrusted some of the seeds to Rosa because she believed in Rosa’s capabilities.
From a pleasant conversation with Rosa just now, she managed to raise Rosa’s faith as a fruitful believer. Or rather, she brought Rosa’s faith to a higher percentage with spicy foods and gifts.
Regardless, she was relieved because Rosa no longer used her photos as a fashion model. Those pictures were withdrawn from the market by the Holy Church five years ago.
