Chapter 449: Why Should I Suffer?
Chapter 449: Why Should I Suffer?
It would most likely take several days for Vanessa to find her uncle and aunt, but fortunately, she came with Luna and Lynn. The soul fox possessed the power to foresee the intermediate future, and it made the search much easier.
"Hum, anyway, why did you choose to live in seclusion deep in these remote mountains? If it wasn’t for Luna and Lynn, it would be hard to find you, uncle, aunt!" Vanessa expressed her discontent, but she couldn’t hide her joy.
"Hmm~ you have become a big tigress already. The Tiger Paw Forest is no longer suitable for us to live in, and we also want to get rid of the problems related to those fire lions." Leila, the light brown tiger, stroked Vanessa’s head gently. No matter how great Vanessa had become, this white tiger would still be her lovely girl.
"Hm, please enjoy our banquet, esteemed guests. Anyway, is your master coming with you? There is something important I would like to discuss with her." Theo, the dark brown tiger, put down some fresh meat and a barbeque set.
"Our master and the Goddesses are aware of it. They’re now investigating the matter." Luna unfolded her folding fan, responding casually and elegantly.
"So, they already know about the Polluted Sea God, huh... Then, this old man can feel relieved." Theo breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hum, why does the Beast Continent only have a temple for the Beast God. They should also build the Temple of Magic or the Temple of Light to honor the world’s savior. The church is also fine! That fat fire lion barely did anything against the Ruvoid’s invasion, but why does he get all the credit here?" Vanessa grumbled in dissatisfaction.
"What can we do? The beasts on this continent don’t like humans to begin with." Leila shook her head as there was nothing they could do about it.
"Hmph! Then, they can take care of themselves. Uncle, aunt, how about you come with me to serve my master?" Vanessa suddenly proposed an idea.
"This is so sudden..." Leila was taken aback.
"Please consider my request, but please know that the Winged Tiger Palace is with me, and also, my master is forming a monster army consisting of many powerful beasts. So, come with me! We need you!" Vanessa emphasized her request as if she didn’t want to hear no answer.
"Fufu, don’t be in a hurry, okay? We will consider it and prepare everything in a positive light. You all just returned today. But, it’s almost midnight. Please stay overnight here." Leila took several beds out of her storage bag.
"Hum, but it’s still dusk in the Human Continent’s holy capital. We can go back for a family dinner. You can meet my master there~" Vanessa leaped onto the table and picked up several fresh meat to grill.
"Well..." Theo scratched his head, feeling like his niece had somehow become a pushover, but the offer was good and promising.
"Are you okay? I mean, don’t you want to visit your homeland?" Lynn asked her fellow sisters in concern.
"Well, I already have a new home. The rest is meaningless. I still find it difficult to meet the Fairy Empresses and Emperors. I was a shut-in hermit, but they sold me out! Thankfully, our master is Goddess Ely, not an ugly or evil God." Yae expressed her grievance, but she wasn’t really angry because her current fate was good.
"Fufu, but you are now grateful for your current situation. You are a mesmerizing fairy. Despite everything, our master is so kind and takes good care of us." Morfina laughed gracefully.
"Yeah, you’re right. Thanks to our master, I feel this world has become too small to explore. I can’t believe I chose to be a hermit and refused to explore the world." Yae sighed and lay lazily on the pillow.
"That’s because you are relatively lazy, but I can fix you." Morfina gently poked Yae’s cheek with her finger.
"Well, enough with me. What about you? You are the best talent in the elf younger generation, high in demand, and countless men will bow under your feet because of your beauty and talent. But, you were reduced to a servant. I remember you once stared at our master with a death glare." Yae pushed Morfina’s finger away with a smirk.
"It was their fault. But, it’s alright. There are no good people in the Almithara Clan. Just like your Raloquinal Clan, I feel like an outcast there. Also, becoming Goddess Ely’s servant is a high honor above myriad of people." Morfina grasped her hand and faintly smiled.
"Well, I’m sure they received a huge sum of fortune because they sold us out. But, they never knew that we received heaven in the Elysium Family. The other younger generations who thought our fate was sealed would definitely be very jealous if they knew how amazing we are now." Yae took the nearby grape and ate it slowly.
Lynn felt relieved even though her fellow sisters were so indifferent to their respective homelands. So, only one remains. "What about you, Lyla?"
"I don’t have any attachment to any place in my home country. My home is Elysium Family now." Lyla shook her head.
"I heard the dwarves are crazy about technology and craftsmanship. The Dwarven Race and Devil Race have amazing advanced technology. Aren’t you at all interested in taking a look?" Luna closed her eyes.
"I don’t think so. Xentia’s technology is so advanced and developing rapidly. I couldn’t take my attention away from her." Lyla clasped her hands with a beaming expression. It was her greatest honor to collaborate with Xentia.
"I almost thought your Goddess is Xentia instead of our master, but okay." Lynn smiled in amusement. She then approached the only mermaid in the family.
"You need to be patient, Dory. After further investigation and a grand meeting, we will raid the world boss to punish the Polluted Sea God’s main body along with her clones and minions in the far eastern sea." Lynn held Dory’s arm with great concern.
She had no idea why, but Dory’s fate was often falling into pitiful situations with paths of suffering that came one after another. She and her mother had a divination some time ago, and the Lorelei Clan was no more. It was a massacre that occurred about three years ago.
"Five years have passed. Waiting a few more days won’t be any different. I’ll be very patient, Lynn." Dory smiled in reply and picked up a fresh meat.
"Stop, what are you going to do? You are an authentic vegetarian who cannot eat food for carnivores. It will ruin your body." Dory held Dory’s hand and put down the fresh meat. She offered some fruit and vegetables to Dory instead.
"They said I would get sick if I ate meat. Thus, I have never touched food for carnivores since then... They would definitely reprimand me harshly every time I eye the food for carnivores."
"When I was little, I almost died because I ate meat that was somehow included in my meal. My father burst into a rage and imprisoned the chef. He then invited dozens of the best physicians to cure me."
Dory muttered softly, lamenting the past. The room suddenly fell into silence as everyone knew Dory was grieved over her family’s demise. She was the only survivor of the Lorelei Clan.
Even if the best situation miraculously occurred, the entire Lorelei Clan only had a tiny chance of surviving the Polluted Sea God’s dominion.
Most of the Aquatic Race in the eastern seas were transformed into the Polluted Sea God’s minions, the water demons with no mind of their own. That was what she discovered when they took a little detour across the western region of the Beastkin Continent on their way to Vanessa’s aunt and uncle.
"Lynn, you can foresee the past and future, right? Can you please tell me why all these things keep happening to me?" Dory looked aside, staring into Lynn’s eyes, feeling a sense of injustice.
Lynn could see Dory’s mentality was shaken and so unstable. She hugged Dory tightly and whispered her answer near Dory’s ear. "Everything will be fine. We also have our share of the tragedy that befell us. Our master shall protect us. We are with you always."
"Then, why? Just tell me the reason. Do I still have to suffer and encounter a similar situation in the future? Our master is so powerful, and we have a Goddess of Fate in the family. They can do something for me, right?" Dory’s eyes were blank as she felt lost.
"Sigh..." Luna sighed as she had to act because Dory’s faith kept decreasing.
She beckoned her daughter to make a little space for her as she had to take care of Dory’s matter personally.
"Dory, Dorienne Lorelei... do you blame our master for this situation? She did a lot to save this world. Have you forgotten your vows and oath?" Luna held Dory’s arms, talking face to face with a solemn expression.
"Why should I? She is a Supreme One. I was just wondering why she is a bit cold and indifferent despite possessing the divinity of omniscience. She should know everything and be able to prevent it. Does she still think of me as her servant?" Dory asked with a blank expression.
"Omniscience is not as great as you think, infinity just means unmeasurable, life trial is so tricky, and fate is so fond of toying with people. We will go through many trials in life to hone ourselves to a higher level. Do you know what our master has gone through?" Luna beckoned Dory and used her power to make Dory lie on her lap.
She then shared a little story about what their master had gone through. Since their master reincarnated several times, then their master went through many life-death situations. However, the most painful thing was definitely watching one’s loved ones die one by one, leaving behind none but strangers.
As for fate, Dory’s fate had been changed since their vow to their master. However, there were still many variables that would come to bring them some misfortune.
What Dory experienced in Quadtria was an unexpected incident that occurred due to their carelessness while their master’s was sealed. As for the current matter, it was because of the Polluted Sea God’s ambition.
"Our master wishes for us to live an eternal life. We need to achieve our godhood and accompany her journey. To reach that level, we need to go through many things and obstacles. If this situation and setbacks hinder your path, causing you to give up, then--"
Luna spoke to Dory gently while occasionally stroking Dory’s long pink hair, whispering some revelation to help Dory’s mind sober.
"Sorry, sorry... I’m a bad servant. I shouldn’t have said or thought that." Dory covered her face, feeling embarrassed and sad at the same time.
She silently cried, but she had to overcome it and punish the evildoer to avenge her family. If such a setback caused her to fall, then she wasn’t worthy to follow her master.
Her master did nothing wrong, and it was just her life trial. If it weren’t for her master and her role as a representative for the Aquatic Race, she would still be in her clan, and the Polluted Sea God would have reduced her to one of the water demon minions like the other Aquatic Race in the far southern seas.
Since she was still there, then she had to do something to avenge her family.
"Our master is aware of your situation. We will meet our master and Goddesses soon. Do you know what you have to do, Dory?" Luna looked down at Dory’s face with a tender smile.
"Yes, thank you, Luna. I need to seek master’s guidance immediately." Dory propelled her body to sit and wiped her tears.
"I’m glad to hear that. Should we return now?" Luna was happy because Dory regained a clear mind and composition of the proud mermaid.
She felt a bit guilty to foresee the future for Dory. The Lorelei Clan was no more, but Dory had to accept it because they embarked on the path of truth. The fallen ones had died as honorable warriors. Dory should avenge the fallen and free the polluted sea by punishing the great mastermind.
