My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 482: Assassination Attempt

Chapter 482: Assassination Attempt

"Hic, that’s impossible..." Sylvia muttered softly as if she couldn’t believe that her team would lose.

"Hmm~" Yuuki faintly smiled with a smug expression.

Lynn and Vanessa were pretty rich, and they managed to secure a large amount of money and energy cores. That was just from the bets, not the grand prize.

"Our master brought lots of pizza and went to the museum and magic exhibition." Vanessa tugged Yuuki’s sleeve.

"Can we pay a visit to the magic store in the central district after this? I heard the academy’s best products are sold there. I want to take a look." Lynn checked the academy environment plan.

"Mm, let’s go." Yuuki nodded in reply.

"Father, sorry you lost a lot of money." Sylvia muttered softly under her breath.

"It’s a small amount of money. No need to make a big deal about it. It just changed hands from us to your friend." Dylan flapped his hand nonchalantly. He threw money like garbage, and it was still a drop to a bucket for him.

"That’s because of Lynn. This kind of game won’t be fun as long as the opponent has mind-type abilities. Divination is a super cheat." Sylvia clenched her fist and went towards the museum as she craved to confide in Elysia.

"That’s a good game. See you later, president." Darkness waved her hand and left with Sylvia.

"Uhm, that... Yuuki and her two friends are beastfolk, right? Foxkin?" Milena pointed at the students walking away.

"I think so. She hides her tail, but her fox ears are real." Yasmin nodded in agreement.

"Hmm?" Sylvia looked around the museum’s hall, but Yuuki and the others had just disappeared even though they arrived only two minutes earlier than her.

She scanned the surroundings one more time. Elysia and the others gathered in the rest area in a corner covered by a barrier. She could see it thanks to Elysium Channel.

"Ely~" Sylvia waited for nothing more and asked for some comfort.

"Ah, hi~ Welcome back, Sylvi, Darkness." Elysia waved her hand, but Sylvia suddenly hugged her.

"Did you know? Yuuki and Lynn were just playing dirty. And, hmm?" Sylvia was about to confide, but she noticed the oddity.

Erina was surprised by something and was inspecting a girl with ponytail hair in a black suit uniform.

"Wow! You are transformed. Such a tender arm and tummy, can you transform them back into steel-like muscles?" Erina checked Mio’s arm, stomach, and many other limbs with great curiosity.

"I guess, this is a body refinement technique. My muscles are still there, but physical strength doesn’t require a big build. That is the essence of this technique." Mio rubbed her arm, but she felt a bit overwhelmed by her lady’s curiosity.

"That’s wonderful, Mio. You will no longer have to worry about looking for clothes, and you can wear pretty dresses again." Erina clasped Mio’s hands with great joy.

"Is that girl really Mio, that bulky female bodyguard?" Sylvia asked in wonder.

"Mm, yes. She is Mio, our golden diva’s personal bodyguard." Elysia nodded in confirmation.

"Then, can we tour as a group? It’s a bit less lively if it’s just a team of three or four..." Jophiel held her master’s arm with a pleading expression, but her other hand slowly moved to separate Sylvia from her master.

"Hmm, what do you think, Eve?" Elysia looked aside to ask for advice.

"Hum, I thought it would be better to move in a smaller team, but it seems like we’re used to adventuring in a big group. But, wouldn’t that be too conspicuous?" Evelyn put her hand to her chin, truly considering it.

"We are still in the outside world for leisure time." Elysia checked her wristwatch. They still had three hours before the academy’s private world would open.

"Then, is it set?" Jophiel asked enthusiastically. She wished to spend more time with her master. Her master nodded, and it brought joy.

"They call this a magic exhibition?" Dylan looked around and shook his head. The magic items, magic inventions, and various kinds of devices on display were nothing more than cheap and low-tier things by his standards.

"If they combined the diffusion magic inside the core, it would probably produce a perfect reaction."

"Hum, this one looks very flawed. Once the caster channels some magic energy to the core, the imperfect magic formation will make it overheat. The magic circuits collide. They need to change the circuit."

Xentia muttered to herself as she observed every conspicuous magic item around her. She felt that the magic inventions on display were all flawed, and she accidentally mumbled about the solution.

Unfortunately, she was unaware that several magic experts noted her mumbling from a safe distance.

"???" Xentia noticed an announcement in the group chat and turned around to return to Elysia’s side.

"Please excuse me, miss. Can you spare a little of your time?" A wizard blocked the magic genius from leaving as he wished to hear more from her random mumble which actually made perfect sense to improve the existing magic inventions.

"Hi, Xen. We’re about to leave. We should regroup with everyone." Luna fetched Xentia up and took the sought girl away.

"W-wait." Several mages tried to stop the girls.

Unfortunately, Luna only required a glance, and they couldn’t move a finger for several minutes. She took Xentia away from the limelight quickly.

"Truly... Xen, don’t you realize that they are trying to take advantage of you? They recorded all your mutterings, and some of them wanted to kidnap you." Luna advised Xentia with relief.

"They would never dare. Even if they dare, they are the ones who will suffer. But, what are students supposed to do? We are students for a day, right?" Xentia tilted her head with a deadpan expression.

"Ah, never mind." Luna heaved a subtle sigh and brought Xentia back to Elysia’s side.

Once everyone gathered, it became a big group tour. They visited many places, but in every place they visited, they would reserve the entire area, clearing the spot from other visitors.

They enjoyed their time in peace and bought anything they wanted undisturbed.

"..." Elysia didn’t know what to say. Her girls were on a spree, and luckily, they bought their own stuff.

Her personal money in Vrelenia’s currency was not much, and she would go bankrupt if she had to support everyone alone. Fortunately, everyone was capable ladies, and she indirectly mooched them...

"The end is near. It was only postponed... The God has abandoned us..." A cloaked man muttered with a hint of despair, walking while staring at the ground.d nothing wrong, then she put the matter aside.

"It’s almost noon. Let’s move to the primary building. The principal is waiting for us." Ella reminded everyone regarding the appointed time.

"Uh, is it already time? Time flies so fast, huh..." Rosa felt a little reluctant to part with Elysia and everyone. It had been a while since she could enjoy her time like this.

*Bam*

Rosa’s arm accidentally bumped into a cloaked man who happened to be passing by. She apologized by reflex and moved on, but the man she bumped into remained silent.

He suddenly trembled and turned around in a sudden swift motion, taking out a blade from his sleeve. "How dare you to bump into me, btch!"

*Clang!*

"!!!" Rosie pushed Rosa aside and caught the blade. Because the gravity of the matter was serious, she took action first before anything else and subdued the assailant, pushing him to the ground with a deadlock.

"Wha- hey... I just accidentally bumped you a little. Why do you have to be so extreme?" Rosa was shocked, but fortunately, Rosie saved her in time. If she thought about it, she hung out with the Elysium Group, and nothing would go wrong with her for sure.

"Tch." The cloaked man clicked his tongue as he stared at Rosa. However, the knight lady above him suddenly smacked his head, rendering him unconscious.

"We will interrogate you. Rosa, is it possible that someone targeted you?" Rosie frowned, feeling something was wrong. She began to scan her surroundings warily.

"Ah, hahaha... how is that possible? One enemy is too many, and a thousand friends are still too few. I am a good and law-abiding person." Rosa waved her hand. She had never made any blood feud with anyone.

*Swiish!*

An arrow shot out at breakneck speed, aiming for Rosa’s neck.

"!!!" Rosa closed her eyes by reflex as she knew that she couldn’t avoid the sudden attack.

However, the arrow never touched her. She opened her eyes, and the sharp arrowhead stopped a few centimeters from her face.

"Gulp..." Rosa gulped her saliva as she started to break out in a cold sweat.

"Hmm, no outside party is aware of us. They are targeting you, Rosa. Don’t rush to leave, sir. This arrow is yours, so we will naturally return it to you." Elysia swung her finger, returning the poisoned arrow back to its owner at the speed of sound.

*Boom!*

The arrow missed its target, but it penetrated the assassin’s trousers, nearly castrating him.

"Wait-" The assassin tried to beg for his life, but several devilish girls already surrounded him.

"I guess, someone is tired of living." Darkness grinned.

"Sorry, sir. Your living pass has expired. You should greet the king of hell to extend it." Sylvia congested a blood ball, ready to torment the assassin.

"Wait. I will investigate this situation. Rosa will be under my protection for now." Rosie tried to stop the two demonesses, but she seemed a little too late.

The assassin is already tormented by Sylvia’s blood curse. He screamed in pain and writhed like a caterpillar on fire, but his voice was shackled. His blood flow became chaotic, giving him unimaginable torture, but his desperate cry couldn’t escape his mouth. He wished for a quick death, but nobody would grant it.

"Uh-huh? Okay then. Luckily he didn’t aim his arrow at my sisters, or he would have died a thousand deaths." Sylvia released the assassin, but he was already so pale as if he had lost most of his blood.

"Rosa." Elysia called out all of a sudden.

"Y-yes, your honor!" Rosa saluted by reflex as if she would do whatever Elysia would say.

"Someone wants you dead. You’re still under our protection, but you need to take refuge in the Holy Church. Never leave Rosie’s side for the time being." Elysia stared at Rosa’s eyes with a profound gaze.

"As your wish, your honor!" Rosa was still shocked, but Elysia’s words brought her relief because the way out was right before her eyes.

Elysia assigned Rosie to escort Rosa. The knights and guards immediately took action right after they caught the news. Several high-level mages were also dispatched to investigate the case.

The Mage Association, Knight Association, Imperial Guard, and even the Holy Knight Order mobilized their teams under the Emperor’s order.

Therefore, Elysia’s group could leave the matter to authorized people. After bidding each other farewell, Rosa and Rosie left the scene while Elysia’s group went to the academy’s main building.
