My Goddess is Good at Pretending

Chapter 489: Sparring Match

Chapter 489: Sparring Match

The sparring match took place in the celestial arena, a magnificent structure floated among the starry sky in the outer space of the artificial realm manifested from the lite version of Elysia’s absolute domain expansion. The arena was made of gleaming cosmos-like energy, adorned with golden runes and ethereal energy.

Elysia used her God mode, the six-winged angel divine battlesuit with the vision of divine magic. Her six radiant wings spanned wide, each feather glistening with a golden hue. Her attire was sleek and shining. Her eyes glowed with a determined purplish-blue light. She wielded a sword forged from pure divine light.

Yuna morphed into her heavenly guardian mode. Her frame was clad in celestial armor, engraved with ancient symbols of protection and power. She also had a single pair of broad, white wings, resembling a valkyrie.

Yuna possessed legendary strength, renowned as the strongest agent, only beneath the Lord of Heaven. She commanded defensive magic spells, summoned barriers, and wielded her longsword with unmatched skill.

She looked at Elysia. Her opponent was the one known as the Supreme Goddess, the pinnacle powerhouse beyond anyone’s comprehension, far above the Lord of Heaven. Once she felt she could withstand the supreme counter, she unleashed her offensive technique without further ado.

The deadly slash caused dimensional turmoil, cutting Elysia in two. Yet, it was merely an illusory shadow. Elysia vanished like an illusion.

Elysia soared with a powerful flap of her wings, ascending gracefully. She dove down with her sword of light, aiming a swift and precise strike at Yuna.

Yuna raised her sword, summoning a radiant shield energy to block Elysia’s attack. The clash of their weapons sent a shockwave through the arena.

With a swift motion, Yuna swept her sword in a wide arc. Yet, Elysia evaded with a graceful spin mid-air, her wings fluttering like a dance.

Elysia used her agility to her advantage, darting around Yuna in a blur of light. She unleashed a flurry of strikes, each one aimed to test Yuna’s defenses.

Yuna remained steadfast, parrying and blocking with her sword. Her movements were precise, showing the experience of countless battles.

Elysia retreated and hovered above, chanting an incantation. "Calibourn."

Her sword glowed brighter as she summoned a beam of divine light, aiming it at Yuna.

In response, Yuna held her sword with two hands, summoning a protective barrier that absorbed the blast. She then charged forward, breaking through the remnants of the light to close the distance.

The two engaged in a close combat showdown. Their weapons collided with thunderous force. Sparks flew as the two swords clashed with each strike resonated with the power of laws.

Elysia’s speed and agility conflicted with Yuna’s brute strength and unyielding defense. Their battle was a perfect blend of finesse and force.

Elysia feigned a downward strike, then quickly changed her strike’s pivot, aiming a lateral slash. Yuna anticipated the move with a sidestep and countered with a powerful upward swing.

The force of Yuna’s swing sent Elysia several hundred meters back. Elysia recovered her stance mid-air quickly. Her wings flared out as she prepared herself for another round.

Everything happened in only three seconds. Hundreds of clashes occurred at a super high speed that could only be seen with advanced eye ability.

Unfortunately, Yuna didn’t move for any follow-up attacks. She lowered her stance to express her thoughts. "My lady, even though you have nice swordplays and flawless comprehension of laws, I can feel that the swordsmanship is not your forte. Are you looking down on me?"

"Hmm? What made you come to that conclusion? Isn’t this a spar between techniques and laws?" Elysia tilted her head slightly.

"This is also the battle of honor. I wish to see the power of the supreme. Please enlighten me!" Yuna stated her wish with profound determination.

"I see... swordsmanship is not my forte indeed. Magic is my specialty. I ask you one more time. Once I switch to magic mode, it may no longer be a good spar. Do you still wish to proceed?" Elysia dematerialized her sword of light.

"Yes, please enlighten me." Yuna summoned her divine shield. She would focus on the balance between the all-out assault and impenetrable defense.

"..." Elysia heaved a subtle sigh. Yuna was truly eager, but she could use it to test the depth of her power as well.

As a 16th Rank Immortal Lord, Yuna’s current prowess could easily rival the 17th Rank Immortal King. As for her, she was just a newly ascended Goddess, an 11th Rank Human Immortal.

The gap between their power was so massive like heaven and earth. Even so, Elysia was still confident to hold her ground. The sole reason why she could rival the 17th Rank power with ease hailed from her domain expansion and imaginary divinity, the lite version of divine creation.

Unless Yuna destroyed the lite domain, the absolute law under Elysia’s command would persist, whether to ensure everyone’s safety or grant her victory.

Since it was a spar to hone one’s skills, they would need to exchange blows and techniques, learning and training themselves with the opponent as a teacher. They would receive enlightenment and guidance during this friendly battle.

However, Yuna sincerely craved something else, and Elysia couldn’t refuse it either.

’Come to think of it, I have never tried to unleash my magic potential to the maximum. The last time I went all out was against Sera and the Ruvoid God. But, I have risen in rank and my opponent is not the troublesome Ruvoid. No, I still need to restrain myself.’ Elysia muttered to herself.

Her presence was known as a glass cannon. In exchange for her pathetic physical strength and defense, her magic prowess was truly insane. Once she unleashed her divine-class ultimate attack, she could trigger a supernova capable of destroying several planets and countless stars, or perhaps the entire solar system in just one casting.

It was still too dangerous to cast it on Yuna, but she could still use the other fancy move.

Once Elysia came to a conclusion, she summoned her divine magic staff from her inner space.

What everyone could see, she pulled a long divine magical staff out of her cleavage.

A magnificent crystal shard hovered atop the staff, roughly the size of a head. This crystal was a pristine aurora crystal, known for its ability to channel and amplify magical energy. It glowed with an inner light that shifted through all colors of the spectrum, creating a mesmerizing kaleidoscope effect.

The crystal was surrounded by a delicate, intricate golden filigree, crafted to resemble interwoven vines and coiling roots.

"It’s been a while since I tested my divine magic. I hope you can find what you are looking for, Yuna. Please be prepared!" Elysia began to gather her magical energy. She channeled her divine power into her staff, creating a massive sphere of light.

"Divine sun." Elysia’s soft whisper echoed throughout space.

The massive sphere of light was compressed into a ball-sized light. It shot like a cannonball towards Yuna.

"!!!" Yuna could feel her premonition alarmed her of the danger. That golden ball of light was by all means not simple. Her instincts warned her that tiny thing could kill her upon contact!

Yuna leaped hastily and flew as far as she could from the ball of light.

Yet, the compressed sphere of light soon exploded, forming a massive bright golden sun with intense gravity to suck everything to its surface. Yuna was caught by the sudden intense of heat, but she managed to break through the sun’s golden flames, barely keeping herself safe.

"Hey, put on your sunglasses now." Elena warned everyone in the spectator seat. She also smacked those who were still stunned in shock and awe only to emphasize her warning.

The divine sun was just a speck of dust from Elysia’s overall magical capabilities. Elysia possessed the power to wipe out the entire solar system in one move, but what would await Yuna after this wasn’t about that golden sun.

*Zap*

The divine sun exploded, causing intense heat and blinding light to spread hundreds of thousands of kilometers away, obliterating everything.

The audience was safe, but they were sent to the white backroom. Yuna was thrown to that place as well, but her entire body was still burned by the golden flames.

"Yuna, you are dead." Elena extinguished the golden flames and poked the dumbfounded Yuna with a wooden stick.

"Who am I? Where am I? I am, am I dead?" Yuna flinched a little, remembering what had just happened. She believed that she blocked the explosion, but her impenetrable defense was simply destroyed. "So, that is the power of supreme... hee-hee~ huu..."

She grinned and covered her face with her hands, laughing like a fool. She asked the supreme one not to hold back, but she lost just from a first move. Elysia was clearly still holding back for her safety.

"It’s not that kind of dead. Ely sent us here for precautionary purposes." Elena took a step back, thinking Yuna had become a bit broken.

On the other side, Elysia absorbed back the magical power that she unleashed. Once she regained the energy that she lost, she summoned everyone from the white backroom to the arena.

"Wow..." He-Dao was still at a loss for words. Nothing could describe what he felt at that moment.

The power of the supreme to rule over everything. The one who stood at the pinnacle of the universe. He finally could witness Elysia’s divine prowess.

However, a thought soon crossed his mind. With that kind of power, even Elysia had to reincarnate several times. The one who could defeat her during her prime in the past was incredibly terrifying.

"One more time! Please!" Yuna regained her balance and cried out, demanding another round.

"Sure." Elysia complied with Yuna’s request.

Henceforth, Yuna sparred with Elysia two more times and received many enlightenments. She also received several guidances. After several exchanges, she could finally put up a good fight against the Supreme Goddess despite knowing Elysia was still going easy on her.

Yet, she was unaware that she had become like a test subject. Elysia experimented with countless magic creations and tested several dangerous theories in action with her as a subject.
