Chapter 514: Elemental Guardian Knights
Chapter 514: Elemental Guardian Knights
After the corrupted monsters’ stampede, the knights and priests diligently inspected the river, estuary, and coastline.
The once tranquil waters were now murky and tainted, remnants of the monstrous chaos lingering in the form of scattered debris and twisted plant life and corpses. The knights, each attuned to a different elemental force used their abilities to assist the others. They worked together with the priests, mages, and other warriors to cleanse and restore the area.
The holy light purified the polluted terrain, the flames burned the corrupted corpses, torrents of clean water swept away the debris, the earth reshaped the damaged land, and gentle winds carried away the foul stench of corruption.
"Phew... that’s a lot of work to do. It’s a shame we can’t witness the godly battle in the eastern ocean." Brian Chapman, the pyro knight, wiped his sweat after burning the last corrupted monster’s carcass from the river bank.
"Yeah, it’s a shame. The blinding light yesterday was truly something. I thought a tsunami would come, but my worries were unfounded. The summons came from the Goddesses, after all." Raphael Marsh, the anemo knight, controlled his power over the wind to obliterate the stench from the surroundings.
"If it wasn’t a battle in the middle of the ocean, we might be able to give it a chance. Why did the Emperors make that a mission exclusive to Spirit-level and above?" David Moore, the electro knight, couldn’t help but sigh as he stared at the vast ocean to the east.
"What can we do? Can you fight in the middle of the sea? I’m an exception because my performance won’t decrease, but not for you all, especially the new guy." Ashton Spencer, the hydro knight, puffed out his chest confidently while sweeping away the war’s remnants with water waves.
"The new guy, huh..." Theo Griffith, the cyro knight, sat on the nearby ice boulder while watching the geo knight who was busy repairing the breached city wall in the distance.
Billie became the 6th elemental guardian knight with the cooler form and advanced elemental power output. However, Billie received the power from Goddess Elysia directly a few days ago. The advanced power and it was more powerful than the other guardian knights!
Broadly speaking, Bilie received the latest model, while the other elemental guardian knights were still the flawed old model with a slight setback. Also, Billie already met Goddess Elysia upon her return, the divinity whom they serve, when they had yet to be graced by her presence!
"Your mastery is amazing. Can we use the blessed power in our non-morph form?" Billie was done with his work and leaped to the battlefront. He was a new recruit, and he had many things to learn from the seniors, his comrades-in-arms.
"You may not know, geo knight. But, it can be achieved once you grasp the true secret of your Morph-E Driver Belt. You can use the blessed power in non-morph form. Although the output is relatively weak, this can save a lot of energy." Brian cleared his throat, speaking like an experienced senior.
"Morph-E Driver Belt? Is that the name of this magic artifact?" Billie put his hand to his belt, deactivating his elemental guardian knight form as it was pretty energy-consuming.
"We agreed on the name. E is for elemental, and it can also be interpreted as our Goddess’ initials, but well... your item is the latest model, right? I hope I can meet Goddess Ely and request an upgrade." Brian inspected Bilie’s belt closely.
It was hard to accept, but Billie possessed the greater power and energy effectiveness with that item. The elemental knight form was also cooler than the old model. Goddess Ely obviously had improved it. After all, the elemental knights other than Billie were fully aware that their drivers were still rudimentary prototypes.
"She once said that she would meet her guardian knights after the war." Billie couldn’t help but smile. So, the awkwardness he felt earlier was because of jealousy.
"Really?!" Brian, David, and Ashton immediately responded enthusiastically.
Elysia was once their classmate, but her identity as a Goddess’ disciple soon changed everything. She became the newly ascended Goddess, loved and worshiped by many. Five years had passed since Goddess Ely graced her presence to them. After missing in action for five years, she returned to their world safely, and it would be their greatest honor to meet her again.
"Let’s finish our cleaning duties, and teach me to the non-morph partial power use." Billie looked at the surroundings. They had to take care of the aftermath as soon as possible so he could seek some pointers from his seniors.
As the six elemental guardian knights worked, a sense of unease settled over them gradually. Though the immediate threat had passed, the land still bore the scars of the monstrous invasion, and everyone knew their task was far from over.
Yet, the ground suddenly shook, and a gargantuan golem-like monster of darkness crawled out of the ground. Its eyes glowed bright purple, emitting an intimidating aura no less than a Spirit-level monster. It attacked the nearby warriors.
"Everyone, emergency retreat! It’s a Spirit-level dark golem! Beware of the dark mud!"
"We missed one, huh? This one is courting death."
"Where did that thing come from? I didn’t sense it coming."
"Anyway, let’s deal with it quickly."
Six boys rushed forward. They used their belt to morph into their elemental guardian knight form.
The cyro knight tested the dark golem’s defense by releasing several giant ice spears. Unfortunately, the ice spears couldn’t even scratch the enemy.
"Physical attacks don’t work. Try to use elemental power. I will restrain its movement!" The cyro knight clenched his hand into a fist, blasting the ice spears into a shackle to restrain the dark golem in place.
"Let’s fckin go! Elemental reaction, let’s see if you have elemental immunity as well!" The pyro knight took the lead as the damage dealer, assisted by the electro and anemo knights.
The hydro and geo knight had yet to get their turn, but a fierce storm of great destructive power had already hit the dark golem. They couldn’t even get close nor had the chance to make their move.
"How’s that?" The electro knight landed with a high-voltage electric current.
"No, it’s less effective. It has self-repair." The anemo knight was shocked because the inflicted damage on the golem’s body was healed swiftly.
"That thing won’t self-repair endlessly. Let’s get it done quickly. The six of us, our elemental reaction must cause greater damage than its recovery speed. Let’s go." The hydro knight controlled the surrounding water to flood the dark golem until it was drenched.
Six elemental guardian knights worked together to take down the gigantic dark golem, inflicting greater damage than its self-repair.
The finisher move was unleashed by the geo knight. He created a gigantic earth fist to hit the dark golem, then used his earth blade to cut open the dark golem’s chest, exposing its core.
*Swoosh!*
An ice spear shot with high voltage electricity, accelerated by the force of the wind. It shot past the speed of sound and pierced the dark golem’s core.
It took them four minutes to destroy the enemy’s defenses and inflict enough damage to crush it to rubble.
"That took longer than expected. Is it just the one stray corrupted golem?" The geo knight jumped down from the dark golem’s crumbled body with its core in hand.
"No monsters detected within a two-kilometer radius. Scout mages, what’s the situation?" The anemo knight asked the people on the fortress city’s walls via a telecommunication device. The answer was similar, and that wild gigantic dark golem was the only one in the vicinity.
At that moment, an ethereal energy condensed from above. The approaching reinforcement and the elemental knights were alerted because of the sudden danger.
It was then that an unexpected presence made itself known. The air shimmered with a divine light, and the Goddess, the one who had bestowed the six chosen warriors their elemental powers, appeared before them. Her radiant form hovered above the river, her eyes filled with both sternness and compassion, cleansing the surrounding polluted area only with her divine aura.
"!!!" The six elemental guardian knights knelt in reverence as they recognized the significance of the divine’s sudden arrival. The priests, mages, knights, and everyone in the vicinity also knelt down to pay their respect to the divine being.
Elysia spoke to her elemental guardian knights. Her voice sounded like a melody of the natural world, asking them to prove their motivations and aspirations over the power she had entrusted to them. Each knight stepped forward, demonstrating their worth alternately.
Impressed by their responses, Elysia knew they were worthy of an even greater power. With a wave of her hand, she enveloped each knight in a cocoon of elemental energy, intensifying their connection to their respective elements. The air crackled with magic as their abilities were enhanced, their bodies glowing with a newfound strength.
Everyone received the blessing. Apart from the geo knight, the other five received an item upgrade, the Morph-E Driver, they named it. From now on, they could unleash greater power over their advanced elements and also the cooler knight form, similar to Billie’s artifact.
As the upgrade was completed, Elysia descended to stand closer to her elemental guardian knights. She addressed them with a smile, her eyes reflecting pride and hope. "You have proven your worth, my brave knights. In these dark times, your strength and unity are more crucial than ever. I grant you this upgraded power to protect our world from the encroaching darkness."
The reunion was filled with both reverence and warmth, the knights expressing their gratitude for her guidance and blessing. Elysia, in turn, spoke of the challenges ahead and the importance of their mission. She reminded them that their powers were not just tools for battle but symbols of hope and guardianship for all life.
The elemental guardian knights felt moved, especially Brian, David, and Ashton.
Unlike the other three with their prince identities... Brian, David, and Ashton could be considered insignificant, the side mob characters if it weren’t for Elysia’s favor. She entrusted them with a power.
Their Goddess was no longer a young lovely girl, but an elegant mature divine being with ethereal grace and beauty.
"..." Brian looked at the ground as he recalled the past. He had a secret crush on Elysia, but the gap between them was like the distance between heaven and earth. He might not be the only one as he knew Elysia was loved by many with millions of followers around the world.
"Please be aware of the source of corruption. The dormant evil seeds begin to make their way to the surface. Eliminate them before the seeds grow into the great evil." Elysia spread her arms to everyone.
"Please rest assured, O Goddess of Magic. We shall eliminate the evil seeds and protect our land." Theo represented everyone to answer the Goddess.
With renewed vigor and enhanced abilities, the elemental guardian knights prepared to continue their duty. The Goddess’ blessing had fortified their resolve, and the bond between them had deepened.
As they watched Elysia depart, her form gradually faded into the sky. They knew that they carried her divine presence within them. United and empowered, the elemental guardian knights stood, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, determined to protect the world with their newfound strength.
