Chapter 516: Entrusting the World’s Future
Chapter 516: Entrusting the World’s Future
As Elysia prepared for long-distance teleportation to Quadtria, a sudden darkness spread from the distant void, casting a chilling shadow over the surroundings.
The atmosphere grew heavy with a sinister presence, crackling with malevolent energy. Xero, the Heretic God, had come to confront Elysia, preventing her departure.
The Heretic God stood tall and imposing. His humanoid form twisted with demonic features. His skin was as black as the void, covered in jagged, crimson veins that pulsed with an unholy glow. His entire body was covered in three kinds of hellfire... black, red, and blue, exuding hellish intense heat.
His eyes burned with fiery blood, piercing through the darkness like twin suns of malice. Devil horns curved menacingly from his head’s parietal ridges, and his elongated fingers ended in razor-sharp claws. A wicked smile twisted his lips, revealing rows of sharp, predatory teeth. His voice, when he spoke, was a cacophony of torment and rage, echoing with the suffering of countless souls.
Elysia faced Xero with unwavering resolve. Her divine aura clashed against his oppressive hellish demonic energy. The tension between them was palpable.
He-Dao hovered in front of Elysia as he could feel the inevitable clash. He had no idea what happened between Elysia and this unknown Demon God, but it might be the enemy. Yuna and Amy were also ready to fight.
"You secluded yourself in the deepest hell for years, and you expect us to disturb you?" Elysia returned the question with a voice of a harmonious blend of power and grace.
Xero laughed out loud. His laughter seemed to send shivers to the void and atmosphere. "We’re running out of time, but you’re right. So, is there anything you wish to say to me?"
Elysia crossed her arms, then tapped her chin as she could tell Xero had just returned from hell. "Have you met the other Gods and read our letter on the Cube Island?"
"What are you implying?" Xero frowned because he remained oblivious to the world’s affairs during his seclusion.
’What should we do? Shall we explain the situation first?’ Elysia consulted her Goddess sisters.
They were initially just going to send a farewell message to the other Gods via telepathy before they went to Quadtria, but Xero suddenly came out of his seclusion and confronted them.
Considering their past history, Xero might become a friend or enemy, depending on how they could handle each situation and exchange.
’Alright. Let’s try to recruit this Heretic God to contribute to the world instead of letting him create problems.’ Lifa opened a vote and almost all Elysium members agreed with it.
Therefore, their departure would be postponed because of Xero. It might take them several months or years to return to Vrelenia again. The world would be entrusted to the local inhabitants. So, they might as well make a proper farewell.
*Bam!*
He-Dao made his move without any prior notice, hitting the Demon God’s solar plexus as he had to take down the possible threat first. The impact was great as his suppressed divine power clashed again against the Demon God’s hellish attributes.
"Not bad. I was wondering who you were, but you dare to challenge me?" Xero grinned widely. He spread his arms, making a swift motion to clamp the attacker’s head.
"Evil thing. You’re under my mercy." He-Dao retreated a step to evade the counter. He raised two fingers, releasing divine shackles to suppress the evil.
"Stop right now, or you’ll force my hand." Elysia held Yuna and Amy by the arms and warned the two big guys before the fight broke out.
Lifa, Nell, and Rhea came out of the Nature Realm, floating behind Elysia. They felt like sighing because anyone who possessed the holy and sacred attributes would indeed have the great urge to punch Xero in the face due to his hellish demonic aura.
"Give me the reason why we need to spare this evil thing?" He-Dao made a claw gesture, exerting more force to restrain the Demon God.
"!!!" Xero was flabbergasted. The man before him was strong, but he wasn’t a weak pushover. He manifested the hellish corrosion to break the divine shackles.
"He was once the Devil God, then the Evil God, but he became the Heretic God. Even though he had committed many sins, he was actually just a desperate child who would do anything to protect this world. He embraced the path of redemption. As the enlightened devil, we have no reason to punish him more than what karma already gives him." Lifa shook her head.
<| Lv. 211 | Xerroth | Heretic God | Male (N/A) |>
<| Talent: 5 Stars | UR |>
<| Luck: -88 | Fate: -666 |>
"..." Elysia nodded in confirmation. She could see Xero’s fate and luck points were minus. Because of his sins, his fortune was pretty bleak, and she could do nothing about it.
"..."
"..."
He-Dao and Xero stared at each other with hostile gazes. It was their first encounter, but the conflicting forces and various other factors caused them to become a sudden arch-enemy upon their first meeting.
Unfortunately, Elysia had already spoken and they would only suffer if they invited her wrath. Thus, they had no other choice but to put down their dispute.
"We shall return to the Cube Island for a moment." Elysia nodded in satisfaction after the two big guys were no longer fighting.
---
A few moments later, Lifa and Nell explained several important things to Xero, including their aim to save the otherworld. They also ’forcefully’ assigned Xero with the task of eradicating the evil seeds from Vrelenia.
"I see... so, it’s like that. It all makes sense, and I don’t mind doing it. However, I only ask one thing from you." Xero crossed his arms, looking at Elysia.
"What could you possibly need from me?" Elysia blinked her eyes with an innocent look while pointing at her face.
"Are you aware that you almost died before? How confident are you in returning alive from the otherworld’s problem this time? Do you want to be a world-saving hero who saves the world here and there?" Xero stepped closer and asked in an imposing tone.
Since Xero’s height was more than two meters, Elysia had to look up to meet his gaze, but she had no idea what he wished to imply. "Hm? Why do you think so?"
"You might die, and those around you will be dragged because of you." Xero averted his gaze.
"Do you think I will allow my people to suffer just because we wish to help others?"
"..."
"The great evils will only bring massive harm and destruction. The great evil’s remnants must not be allowed to grow. So, what is your request?"
"I don’t know why you treat it lightly. The request of mine is just me. Take me with you after you’re done saving that guy’s home world."
"E-eh?"
Elysia was stunned after hearing Xero’s earnest request. His condition for carrying out the task assigned by Lifa was so easy to fulfill. Xero only wished to visit the higher other world.
"Sure." Elysia smiled in reply.
"You promised it." Xero held out his hand for a handshake to seal the deal.
Elysia didn’t think long and shook Xero’s hand. The exchange was that simple, and she didn’t need to do anything. Sadly, she was unaware that Xero tried to join her family, and it was his first approach, but she treated it as a simple otherworld travel ticket.
"..." He-Dao crossed his arms. He felt there was an implied meaning and hidden intention behind the Heretic God’s request, but he also noticed something in Elysia’s answer.
He already knew it. Elysia held the power of supreme, but she had yet to return to her prime. Elysia still wished to help him out even though there was a big risk of dying. She once said that she had already reincarnated several times, so one extra probably wouldn’t bring trouble. But, he already promised his dao heart, and he wouldn’t let her suffer, let alone die.
"We updated Mr. Cube’s database network. You can check a lot of information there." Rhea pulled Elysia’s hand from Xero’s grasp because she noticed he was unwilling to let go.
"At your service." The floating cube hologram AI replied like a good assistant.
"Then, our task here is over. We shall leave soon." Elysia nodded to her Goddess sisters.
The World Alliance’s leaders and the Gods exchanged some words with the Elysium Group. The supreme leaders worldwide and all the Gods, except Regulus, were present. Elysia and her Goddess sisters bid their farewell one more time before their departure.
"We entrust the Vrelenia’s future in your hands. We’ll beat you up if the world is ruined again." Nell waved her hand.
She and her fellow sisters had left many precautions hidden in the Cube Island for emergencies. But, she hoped that the Gods and the World Alliance could prevent the tragedy from befall Vrelenia.
"Sigh... what have I missed now? I can’t even overpower that random guy with my current power. Who is he really? Never mind. Mr. Cube, show me the latest world news. Also, show me the details related to the Polluted Sea God’s incident." Xero sighed and tapped the nearby floating cube. A virtual screen then popped out, displaying all the requested information.
He frowned after reading some of the important points behind the incident. Everything came from Sea God’s indecency, and the evil seed from the hidden corrupted tomb wasn’t the only one to blame.
"I need to return to my ongoing task immediately." Oceanid broke into a cold sweat as Xero stared at him with a fiery gaze. He rushed to escape as he was afraid that Xero would burn him in the hellfire purgatory.
"Wait." Xero pursed his lips in great dissatisfaction.
The surrounding Gods and Emperors became wary. Broadly speaking, nobody could suppress the Heretic God if he wished to overpower them in the Elysium Goddesses’ absence!
"Why don’t I see anything about the Beast God." Xero checked several data, but nothing mentioned the Beast God’s involvement. Thus, he stared dagger at the nearby fire lion, Regulus’ descendant. "Tell me anything about this fatass, your ancestor."
"Err... this is the situation..." The Fire Lion Emperor spilled the bean as he had no other choice.
The Beast God, with his wives and the clan’s main members, secluded themselves in the sacred mountains, refraining from the world’s affairs.
"Hmm, the world’s task waiting for no one. Let’s beat him up first and drag him out of his cave." Xero gritted his teeth. That lazy lion received no task, and it was truly asking for a beating.
Sorush, Aether, Timus, and Oceanid immediately agreed. They had to delegate some responsibilities and tasks to Regulus as well.
"Hm?" Xero then noticed the features offered by the Cube Island. This top-tier divine artifact was given by the Elysium Goddesses and it possessed many facilities to nurture the high-level experts at Spirit-level or above to become godly warriors.
The highest-level combat training a trainee could attempt was a challenge against the final boss, the mid-level Ruvoid God!
"Interesting, really interesting! Hahaha! I will try this one first. That fatass lion can wait after this." Xero laughed loudly. He immediately went upstairs. In his steps, he whispered to himself, remembering that he had become much stronger than at that time. "I’ll pay back the great humiliation you inflicted on me by a thousandfold. After testing my power, I shall eradicate your remnants soon."
"What? He wants to challenge the final boss?"
"He was the first to fall that day, and it was his greatest setback in life."
"Let’s go upstairs. Let’s see whether he ends up with injuries, or manages to defeat the final boss."
"Mr. Cube, record the Heretic God’s combat training. Leave no details behind."
The four Gods immediately followed Xero to the top floor as they also wished to witness the outcome.
The Emperors looked at each other and then also went upstairs. Even though they couldn’t watch the live broadcast, they aimed for the battle record. The battle between Gods was something they couldn’t witness easily, and it might bring them some enlightenment.
