Chapter 150: Erasing the Shadow of the Enemy

Chapter 150: Erasing the Shadow of the Enemy

The Mission Begins

The scent of damp earth clung to the air as Seraphis and her team advanced through the thick, moonlit forest. A faint mist lingered above the ground, swirling around their feet as they moved silently toward their target—a rival Assassin’s Guild nestled within a fortified compound in the town of Black Hollow.

This was not just another mission.

It was an extermination.

The rival guild had been a thorn in the side of many for too long. They had crossed the line too many times, taking contracts that should have never been touched, targeting those who should have been untouchable.

And now, they would pay the price.

Seraphis's fingers lightly tapped the hilts of her daggers. Tonight, she would paint the walls of their guild red.

A Silent Approach

They crouched near the outskirts of the compound, eyes locked on the towering walls of the enemy guild. The entrance was guarded by two sentries, their postures relaxed—too relaxed.

They didn’t expect an attack.

That was their first mistake.

Seraphis signaled with her hand. Kaela and Sylvaine moved first.

Two swift movements. Two blades slicing through the air.

The guards never even had the chance to scream. Their bodies slumped against the walls, blood pooling beneath them.

Seraphis nodded.

They slipped inside.

Inside the Enemy Den

The interior of the compound was eerily quiet. The guild hall was lit by dim torches, casting flickering shadows along the stone walls. The scent of alcohol and smoke drifted through the air.

Laughter echoed from the main chamber.

They had no idea that death had already entered their home.

Seraphis motioned for the others to spread out.

Sylvaine took the left wing.
Kaela and Elowen moved toward the dormitories.
Theia went to the rooftop.

Seraphis herself advanced toward the grand hall, where the Guild Master of the enemy assassins resided.

The First Kill

A lone assassin stumbled into the hallway.

Before he could react, Seraphis was upon him.

Her dagger pierced his throat, cutting off any sound before it could escape his lips. His body dropped lifelessly to the ground.

She didn’t even spare him a glance.

The Slaughter Begins

The sounds of combat erupted from the different wings of the compound.

Seraphis moved like a phantom through the corridors, cutting down assassins as they rushed out of their rooms, caught between confusion and desperation.

A masked figure lunged at her with a curved blade.

She dodged, twisting her body to the side, then drove a dagger into his kidney, twisting it viciously. He gasped, eyes wide, before she silenced him forever with a second strike to the heart.

Blood sprayed across the stone floor.

She stepped over the body and kept moving.

A Fierce Resistance

Near the main hall, a group of elite assassins had gathered, forming a defensive line.

Seraphis smirked. Finally, a challenge.

She threw two of her razor-sharp metal playing cards, and they zipped through the air, slitting the throats of the first two enemies before returning to her hand.

The remaining assassins charged.

She met them head-on.

A Dance of Death

Blades clashed in rapid succession.

Seraphis parried an incoming strike, twisting her wrist to deflect the blade before plunging her dagger into the attacker’s gut.

Another enemy came from behind—she ducked, spun, and slashed his Achilles tendon, sending him collapsing to the ground before finishing him off with a quick slice across his neck.

She moved like a specter of death, her speed and precision overwhelming her foes.

Blood painted the walls.

Screams faded into silence.

The Grand Hall – A Final Stand

The last remaining elite assassins had retreated to the guild master’s chamber.

Seraphis kicked the door open.

Inside, the Guild Master of Black Hollow stood waiting, flanked by his last two lieutenants.

He was an older man, his face lined with scars, his dark eyes cold and calculating.

"You’ve made a mistake coming here, girl."

Seraphis only smiled.

"No. The mistake was thinking you could hide."

The Final Battle

The Guild Master rushed forward, his movements still sharp despite his age.

Their blades met in a violent clash, the force sending sparks flying.

He was fast. Stronger than she expected.

But Seraphis was faster.

She dodged a downward slash, countering with a vicious kick to his ribs.

He staggered back.

One of his lieutenants lunged at her—she sidestepped, her dagger slashing across his throat in a fluid motion.

Blood sprayed as he fell.

The other lieutenant attacked from the side, trying to take advantage of the distraction.

Seraphis flipped backward, using the momentum to hurl three of her metal playing cards at him.

The first slammed into his shoulder. The second pierced his chest.

The third?

Right between his eyes.

He crumpled, dead before he hit the floor.

Decapitating the Master

Now, it was just her and the Guild Master.

He charged again, his strikes becoming more desperate.

She blocked, deflected, countered with ruthless efficiency.

He faltered.

That was all she needed.

Seraphis twisted past his final attack and sliced cleanly across his neck.

His eyes widened in shock as his head separated from his body.

Blood sprayed in an arc as his head hit the ground with a sickening thud.

His lifeless body crumpled seconds later.

The battle was over.

A Message to the Rest

Seraphis wiped the blood from her blade.

Then, she turned to the bodies of the Guild Master and his top assassins.

She didn’t just kill them.

She took their heads.

Carrying them outside, she and her team mounted them above the entrance of the now-silent guild, a warning to all who dared oppose them.

Victory in Blood

The streets were eerily quiet as they left the scene, their mission complete.

Seraphis glanced back once.

The severed heads loomed above the entrance, staring lifelessly down at the empty streets.

She felt no remorse.

This was the world they lived in.

And in this world, only the strongest assassins survived.
