Chapter 151: Ascending to Magic Tier 6

Chapter 151: Ascending to Magic Tier 6

A New Goal

The moonlight streamed through the windows of Seraphis’s quarters, casting long shadows on the wooden floor. The night was still, the air crisp, yet she couldn't sleep. Her mind was racing, her body humming with an undeniable need.

She had to advance.

Magic defined strength in this world. No matter how skilled an assassin was, there were limits to what the physical body could accomplish alone. She had already mastered countless assassination techniques, refined her combat style to near perfection, and pushed her physical abilities to their peak.

But magic?

She had only scratched the surface of its true potential.

And so, tonight, she would begin her ascension.

Her goal: Magic Tier 6.

The Path to Power

Reaching Tier 6 wasn’t as simple as just training spells. Magic in this world wasn’t just about knowledge—it required essence, catalysts, and ritualistic refinement.

Each Tier of magic represented a deeper connection to the world’s mystical flow.

  • Tier 1-3: Basic magic, easily accessible to any mage.

  • Tier 4-5: Advanced magic, requiring attunement and refinement.

  • Tier 6: The threshold where a mage steps beyond the realm of mortals, gaining an aura that distorts reality itself.

To reach Tier 6, she needed three key components:

  1. Essence Stones – Rare, raw mana crystals formed in high-density magic zones.

  2. Catalysts – Specific items that enhance and stabilize magical transformation.

  3. Mental and Physical Conditioning – Breaking through a magical threshold was as much a test of the body as it was the soul.

She exhaled slowly. The path was clear.

Gathering the Ingredients

Seraphis donned her black cloak and stepped out into the chilly night, moving through the empty streets like a shadow.

Her first destination was The Midnight Market—a hidden trade hub where only the most valuable and illicit goods were sold.

Navigating through the labyrinth of dark alleys and hidden pathways, she soon reached a seemingly abandoned building. A single blue lantern flickered outside the entrance—a silent sign that the market was open.

She knocked three times, then twice more.

The door creaked open.

Inside, the air was thick with the scent of exotic spices, alchemical fumes, and rare metals. Hooded figures haggled in hushed tones, merchants displayed their wares under dim magical lights, and guards armed with enchanted weapons kept a watchful eye on the patrons.

Seraphis moved swiftly, knowing exactly what she needed.

Acquiring the Essence Stones

She approached a short, bearded merchant, his face partially obscured by a hood. His table displayed glowing blue crystals, their surfaces humming with raw magical energy.

Essence Stones.

"I need three of your best."

The merchant eyed her warily. "That’s a steep request. Tier 6-grade stones aren’t cheap."

Seraphis tossed a pouch onto the table. It landed with a heavy clink—inside was a fortune in gold and rare gemstones.

The merchant’s eyes gleamed.

Without another word, he handed over three large Essence Stones, each pulsating with energy.

One ingredient down.

Finding the Catalyst

The next item on her list was a Draconic Emberstone—a rare fire-element crystal formed in dragon-infested lands.

Only one person in this city would have it.

Seraphis made her way to a secluded alcove in the market, where a lone woman with piercing golden eyes stood behind a table of forbidden artifacts.

"You’re looking for an Emberstone, aren’t you?" the woman smirked.

Seraphis nodded.

The woman retrieved a fiery-red gemstone, its surface shifting like molten lava.

"Rare. Dangerous. Expensive."

Seraphis didn’t flinch. She handed over a small vial of Phoenix Ash—a priceless ingredient even more valuable than gold.

The deal was made.

Second ingredient acquired.

The Training Hall – Preparing for Ascension

Seraphis returned to the Assassin’s Guild training hall just before dawn.

The vast, open chamber was lined with spellcasting circles, reinforced walls, and enchanted dummies for combat practice.

This would be the site of her breakthrough.

She placed the Essence Stones and Emberstone in the center of a ritual circle, drawing runes around them with enchanted chalk. The air began to hum with power as the elements resonated with her intent.

This was it.

She knelt in the circle and began channeling her mana.

Breaking Through to Tier 6

The moment she activated the ritual, the world around her shifted.

A roaring force surged through her body as the Essence Stones began to disintegrate, releasing raw, volatile magic into the air. The Emberstone glowed with furious intensity, feeding the transformation.

A searing pain erupted in her core as her mana circuits expanded, stretching beyond their natural limits.

She grit her teeth.

This was the price of ascension.

Her mind felt like it was being torn apart, her body burning from within, but she refused to break.

Seconds turned into minutes.

Minutes felt like eternity.

Then—

A surge of power exploded outward.

Rebirth in Power

The air around her distorted, the very fabric of reality bending under her presence. The ritual circle shattered, and the training hall shook from the magical release.

Her entire body felt lighter, stronger, overflowing with energy.

She had done it.

She had broken through to Tier 6.

Seraphis clenched her fist. Her aura was different now. It was stronger, denser, almost overwhelming. The power that radiated from her was enough to make even seasoned mages tremble.

She had finally stepped into the realm of high-tier magic.

She smirked to herself.

Now the real fun begins.
